PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

Looks like it is real time battle in VR instead of watching a replay in VR.

Edit : Apparently it has both. VR Viewer and VR Battle (more like a practice mode)

Ah, ok, so it's just training mode with invincible chars in a completely empty endless plateau. Kinda disappointing, but better than nothing. Barely.

It's not. In fact, he said the exact opposite of that. He mentioned people often expect it to be first person while he figured out many years ago that will never work with Tekken.

He also said maybe another game that is specifically concepted for VR might work in first person, but he sounded rather skeptical it would be fun.

Good info.

Amazon UK has PSVR in stock for £320, both from Amazon itself and a third-party.

Does this mean the stock issues are over?

Can anybody help us with Statik?!
We are playing the second multiplayer level and its driving us insane. Has anyone actually been able to complete the second multiplayer box? Right now I am thinking its just broken and impossible to solve...
Without getting into spoilers: We managed to complete two of three puzzles, but we have no idea what to do with the playing card matrix on the second screen app or the right side of the cube in the game.
Also the numbers you can dial after getting the smileys right seem to be totally random as well...After clicking the green call symbol nothing happened except for the appearing numbers, no audio file or anything else. Seems like something is not triggering.

Help would be much appreciated! ;)

-Turn mode #1, Smooth. Smooth rotation using the analog stick.
-Turn mode #2, Small Step. Instant 15 degree step rotation using the analog stick.
-Turn mode #3, Big Step. Fade out, rotate in the direction the analog stick is pressed (including 180) and fade in.
-Turn mode #4, Click. Aim the controller in the direction to rotate and click the stick to fade/rotate that way.

(You can adjust the rotation speed for the Smooth and Small Step modes. Lots of options for different players.)

Sounds good. I'll probably go with #4.

Have to admit the old school nerd in me is really happy about this game coming out next month. If this and a Star Wars X-Wing cockpit game with a single-player campaign are both available and of good quality, I've justified my purchase of PS VR right there.

If the Star Trek game eventually includes a "tourist mode" and brings in things like 1701-D and the original 1701 circa the movie era, of Wrath of Khan and others, I'd almost buy it for that alone.

I just hope there are enough players to get a crew going. I don't know 3 others to play with.

I watched a 45 minute gameplay video of Bridge Crew and I'm even more excited but my big question is what happens if it's only two players? Do you get AI players for the other stations?

I really wish someone would answer this.

Yes if you have only two then you play with npcs.

I was a complete idiot and didn't email them last night to take the time difference into consideration. So there's no way they will read my cancellation request before Monday =/

Now the question is do I attempt being responsible and just wait to receive the package next week, or buy it digitally tonight and hope I can sell the game on Amazon when it shows up.

I'm kind of under the impression they didn't even receive the game stock yet, which is why the orders have been in 'pending' all week.

Fake edit: Yeah, they just updated the page with "Pending stock arrival. * Expected stock arrival 04/29/17 *"

Oh I didn't notice this so I them a while ago just to get an update on my order too since the game said "sold" in my order status even though my order was still in preparing. I guess that 4/29 is why, though they probably should really be emailing us with updates without us needing to ask in a situation like this where it's passed release date already.

There isn't too much there could've been done with Tekken
Correct, not too much, but this is too little. Just give us some regular fighting modes in VR! Local multiplayer is not easily achievable, sure. But even if online is problematic, too, for whatever reason, there could have been one or more true vs CPU modes. Fighting without life bars is no fighting, it's training.
its not like its SF where you can do hadoukens with your hands
That would be gimmicky again.

Really? This is basically what I was expecting, except I thought you would be able to play VS and online this way.

Instead of shoehorning it Bandai Namco should use those resources and implement it in other titles where VR will actually enhance the experience. Their very own Ace Combat 7 and Capcom's RE7 are good examples of where their VR resources should go.

Why on earth does it have to be first person for VR anyway?

Have them fighting on a diorama in front of you..or as full sized fighters at a distance as if you were watching from a seat ringside with you controlling one of them.

I really don't know why so many devs are convinced that all VR games have to be first person.

That's what I expected as well, and really the only reason I was interested in Tekken 7.

Finally played Bound with the camera patch. The same way RE7 convinced me that most first person games should be in VR, Bound showed me that most 3rd person games should be in VR. A 3rd person JRPG with real size monsters would be

Ouf, Until Dawn ROB is pretty damn cool, just finished the 3rd level - am quite enjoying it.

I didn't expect it to be great and I didn't put too much thought into it but what little assumptions I did make about it was in first person. I was thinking this would be the perfect opportunity to take another crack at the first person mode they had back in the day.

1st person Tekken sounds like throwing up waiting to happen, SF makes sense since they have so many fireball characters but Tekken is all very acrobatic body movements. Outside of uppercuts and kick launchers, jabs, and standing kicks. Almost every other move would be a spinning, flipping disaster. The game has to be built for VR from the ground up or a game with, more straight forward moves.

I finally got around to trying out that Trinus program that lets you use the PSVR headset on PC VR games.

I couldn't get Fallout 4 to work properly (it was very squished and the depth wasn't quite there). I did get Minecraft working via Vivecraft. I just did keyboard/mouse controls, but you actually can use the Move controllers on PC too. I may tinker with that next time.

They really need to get a PSVR version of Minecraft asap. It was so awesome seeing my crazy old worlds in VR. I went to the top of one of my giant towers and jumped off lol

Happy to announce and share some new exclusive info about an upcoming PSVR game "Stratos Fantasea"

It is currently in early alpha development and will be releasing early next year. you will be fighting against dragons in the air using bow and arrow using a dual shock controller in this title, as you protect yourself and an airship. you move around by a node based teleportation grappling system, and will have many hours of gameplay, from what i was told. The dev told me the game has been in development for roughly 3 months.

Hmm, Mortal Blitz or Statik?

That's a tough one. But I really think Statik deserve your money. Brilliantly crafted puzzle, nice graphics, great sound design, great co-op experience too. Mortal Blitz is worth it only for one reason, it demonstrates roomscale in PSVR like no other games where you physically hide behind a box and hold up your hand to shoot (hopefully Farpoint will outshine it), other than that, repetitive monster, bad sound design, extremely short campaign. Training mode is pretty fun though.

Was it generic or had some type of hidden appeal for a possible remake for VR?

Would they even remake games for VR....???

The game was ok. The core mechanics worked well and controlled well but there wasn't a lot of content.
Unfortunately, the game got bad reviews from shit heads like IGN because hey were to stupid to either calibrate the Moves correctly or to properly train their fighters ingame.

Hidden appeal was having Danny Trejo yell at you.

From a random retweet from Shuhei Yoshida, I got a bit more insight into Sony's stance on, uh, more personal 3D VR content. There's a video app available in the Japanese PSN Store called Dmm.com, I'm guessing the app has been around for a while, but they just added PSVR support.

Sorry for all the edits, trying to decide on what to emphasize due to the nature of some of the app's content.

http://www.moguravr.com/dmm-psvr/
From Google Translate:
On April 26, DMM.com Co., Ltd., which operates domestic biggest video platform, announced that it is compatible with PlayStation VR (PSVR) for the video application "DMM.com" for PlayStation 4 (PS 4).

By doing this, switching the application to VR mode makes it possible to view VR movies purchased with DMM with PSVR. As correspondence contents, it can enjoy various VR exclusive videos sold in DMM from the stage and artist live to horror, gravure, adult, more than 1,200 works .

You can also watch real VR porn with the LittlStar app, for those who didn't know. Just google that and you'll get the directions. You just name the files correctly and the program recognizes them. They even recommend a site that lets you download some trailers. I was surprised by how hot the chicks were that they got to do these videos.

It's ArtHands, anything on PSVR to him is a gimmick and anything on Vive is perfect. If this was on Vive he would be praising it 24/7, so fake concern

I know of the LittlStar app, I thought this was interesting because it's a real app from the Playstation Store that has that sort of content available for purchase directly from it. Every other avenue for that kind of thing on Playstation has always been through user-supplied content.

I just received a new replacement unit after my last one was having some strange image issues after an several hours but this new one has a very noticeable issue straight out of the box and I have not read of this one anywhere.

Previously, close to black was a little noisy (which has been well documented) with a look like linen on games like Rush of Blood but at least it was uniform in nature. This new one has very obvious vertical streaks that become obvious as soon as you move your head in any near dark scene. Very distracting and immersion breaking. It's brand new UK stock.

Hoping it's not a trend due to a change in panel or something..

I played through Statik last night, it's brilliant, but something has been preying on my mind, and it's related to a worry I mentioned some time ago, back then talking about Obduction:

In terms of immersiveness, I'm excited. But there's one big but, here:

I've played Myst, I've played Riven, I've played (the similiar-ish) The Witness. I haven't yet played Obduction (I Kickstarted it, so I have a copy. Might even already be entitled to a PS4 version, I'll have to check!), but there's one thing the first three had in common that I was expecting to do in Obduction as well, and it's something that doesn't really work in VR: Making notes. Those of you who've played it: Is it necessary in Obduction as well, or are the puzzles sufficiently non-dependent on cross-referencing information? Or is there a solution within the game to make note-taking unnecessary?

I wouldn't relish having to do Myst's piano puzzle through entirely committing the key information to memory!

Back with Statik, within a puzzle, the retention of information required is minimal, but I have a suspicion there's some secrets that require cross-referencing information between multiple puzzles, and the lack of notes really bothered me in that. It's possible it's nothing - I haven't yet explored those extra avenues that made me suspicious - but if it *is* something... some form of in-game note-taking would have been advantageous. I suppose you could use the screenshot feature (although how effective is that in VR? I've not tried it), but it's still a layer of inconvenience.

Yeah an official app would definitely be way better. The files I tried out didn't always play perfectly. Some had audio issues, some had framerate issues, ect. Making it easy and proper is a huge step forward.

it was a good game, but had bad head tracking when released, with a patch fixing it a few days later, when reviews have already being published.

the major problem for me was the marketing.
it tried to sell as a fighting game, it would be more successful if sold as a fitness game.

the production valuers were really good, characters, the campaign, etc.
and I think it still better than 99% of VR combat games announced...

I decided to give O! My Genesis a try tonight and an hour or two later I was buying the other planets. This game surprised me. It feels like what Tethered should have been in terms of how you interact with the creatures and the world. It's tons of fun and has lots of clever bits of immersion that I didn't expect. I do hope that the developer keeps supporting this with more planets.

After I finished one of the DLC planets, I decided to fire up Eve Gunjack for a few rounds. As I was sitting there blasting incoming ships and missiles from every direction, do you know what I started thinking? I wish WB or whoever owns The Matrix license now would do a game around defending Zion (sp?) against the machines. Put me in an APC, give me that rush of hearing my character shouting "Reload!" when I get low on ammo. It would be so freaking awesome looking around and seeing the characters rushing out into the fray bringing me more shells, all while the waves of blood thirsty machines bear down.

I know The Matrix license is pretty much DOA as far as video games go, but you can't tell me that wouldn't be a rad experience in VR.

Finally played some Korix and Mortal Blitz. Korix is really awesome so far. If you like tower defense games at all, you should just buy it now.

Mortal Blitz is also very fun as a standing, near room scale game. It's way too short, but it's very well made.

First I've heard of this game:

Solid Sphere postpones release of "Kaiji: Steel Beam Crossing of Despair" game for PlayStation VR

Sad news for folks who want to reenact the death-defying games from Kaiji, a high stakes gambling manga and anime by Nobuyuki Fukamoto: Solid Sphere, the developer of the Kaiji: Steel Beam Crossing of Despair simulation for PlayStation VR, has announced that they have pushed back the release date of the game until July of 2017.

It was originally scheduled to be released in the Winter season of 2017.

This is rather neat. Love to see more free stuff like this.

Yes. It's much more varied than the two "static" visualisations in Harmonix Music VR and has some replay value in that you can choose alternate visualisers at a couple of points during the journey.

Having issue with the social screen - I have a hdmi multitap thing and it then goes to an HDMI splitter which means its not displaying the social screen.

If I plug it directly into my capture card - again no image.

I'm not that intelligent with things like this - is it a handshaking thing or just not possible to remedy?

Played through Summer Lesson a couple times. The translation is well done. Nothing stands out and the humor comes through just fine. I can't remember if it got a Pro update, but I was surprised how well the graphics ended up (for what it is).

Few gripes...

1) Game is super vague on how you're supposed to properly play well for higher rankings.

2) The subtitles are objects in the 3D space. So if Hikari or anything gets too close to you, the subtitles disappear inside her model. Not a big deal because it mainly happens during each day's hello's and goodbye's so you aren't missing anything you haven't heard 20 times already.

3) Any PSVR wobble in this game is absolutely nauseating since you're always either sitting right behind a table or stationary in her room.
