PlayTracker estimates Starfield has surpassed the 2 million player milestone on both Steam (1M+) and Xbox (1M+) with just the Premium Edition

I think everyone expected this so no surprise. It will have huge up front numbers. In my opinion, the only interesting discussion regarding Starfields "performance" is going to revolve around if it has the same legs as Bethesda's previous tentpole games.

Wild numbers already. So that means 1m at full price, I wonder how many of those on xbox are full price too or just upgrades.

I'll be surprised if they dont sell 10mil in the first full month of sales. In fact i wouldnt be totally surprised if they did that just on Steam alone.

It will do well, probably not as well as their past games that were multiplatform. That's a given though.

Yeah, great game, well deserved.

Agreed. For people getting into it for the first time, go into it knowing it's an RPG first and not a fucking sim. Then enjoy the myriad of amazing graphics, physics, attention to detail, quests, exploring, vast and empty planets, shit to find in space, shit to find on land, and there's already more than, what, 400 mods and it isn'r even full release time yet. Certainly might not be the cup of tea everyone enjoys, but if you're a space head it scratches an itch that NMS and Elite could never accomplish.

People still don't understand a fraction of games price goes to publisher and developer?
Well Steam takes 30%, but from what we understand thats usually lower for big games and big publishers. And i would assume they get pretty much everything from Xbox.

I'd guess they probably need to sell 3mil copies to break even, maybe 4mil if the game had a big advertizing budget (and i dont think it did.
It will probable sell more than that in the first week.

He knows you're paying for the expansion when it releases right?

I think people just want to focus on the early access part and not even think about everything else that's included in the upgrade.

You're basically getting the same / more content than most releases have in their "Deluxe" editions at launches.

But I thought Starfailed was confirmed to be flop? Hmmm.

You'd think so, from some of the talk here.

you did it ya cunts, you normalized paying for early access for AAA single player games and made it popular!!!

I still dont see how this is bad unless you have no self control and/or no money. Regular players get 5 days of actual player impressions before the actual release, the publisher gets to milk the whales for extra money and the whales get to feel special.
Seems like win/win.

Haters spend an entire week shitposting 24/7, coordinating, digging for any possible controversy from the title screen to the tiles to random NPCs.

Meanwhile Phil and Todd looking at the early access money and pre-orders:

I feel sorry for anyone who spent their energy being so incredibly useless. And I would stop expecting a port any time soon...

It is a bit of a scummy practice imo, BUT something that has been happening more and more over the last couple of years, so i'm not sure why people are acting like Starfield is the first game to do it.

As long as they properly support modding don't see why it wouldn't.

Bigger question is if sales going to be more like Skyrim or Fallout 4. Personally I suspect they will fall in between, well depending on how you found GamePass players. If strictly counting sales, suspect it will be below Fallout 4 but not by much. Mostly from Steam.

I never thought of tracking achievements like this. It's up to 39.49%

Edit: 79% of those 39% have reached level 5.

Says 38.54% for me now on the Xbox app on PC, I just looked at a random person from TrueAchievements who was one of the first to unlock it. Interesting to see it updates regularly on the app then, because TA only does it once every 24 hours.

Interestingly he has only unlocked that one achievement in the game, on 31st August. Play time 2 hours 6 minutes 🤔 (Yes it is probably weird me stalking this random person but their stats are public.)
