PlayTracker estimates Starfield has surpassed the 2 million player milestone on both Steam (1M+) and Xbox (1M+) with just the Premium Edition

But I thought Starfailed was confirmed to be flop? Hmmm.

You'd think so, from some of the talk here.
The sony brigade was out in full force the last month trying to downplay Starfield as much as possible. Just negative thread after negative thread.

But nothing is stopping this train.

Says 38.54% for me now on the Xbox app on PC, I just looked at a random person from TrueAchievements who was one of the first to unlock it. Interesting to see it updates regularly on the app then, because TA only does it once every 24 hours.

Interestingly he has only unlocked that one achievement in the game, on 31st August. Play time 2 hours 6 minutes 🤔 (Yes it is probably weird me stalking this random person but their stats are public.)
I'm checking on the xbox dashboard itself, I'll check later to see if they change to gauge the update frequency.

I bet that person started the game, to then have their wife call them into the other room. The console sits there for 2 hours before shutting down. 🤣

As long as they properly support modding don't see why it wouldn't.

Bigger question is if sales going to be more like Skyrim or Fallout 4. Personally I suspect they will fall in between, well depending on how you found GamePass players. If strictly counting sales, suspect it will be below Fallout 4 but not by much. Mostly from Steam.
Skyrim has sold 60mil and had had mutilple releases. Fallout 4, i have seen conflicting reports but 30mil or 40mil is what it says if you Google search.

I could see it possibly matching Fallout 4 years from now, but i think Skyrim, and 50mil, is not going to happen with no Switch, playstation version, and the game bing on Gamepass.

I still dont see how this is bad unless you have no self control and/or no money. Regular players get 5 days of actual player impressions before the actual release, the publisher gets to milk the whales for extra money and the whales get to feel special.
Seems like win/win.
Speaking as a whale since I could afford the whole $30 to play early, I can say it wasn't about feeling special it was about playing a game I wanted to play and getting the first DLC, easy buy for me

Its funny though that in the early access thread someone brought up how us whales look down on others as second class citizens yet its those people who call names and the snarky remarks about the people who bought early access

I expected more tbh

How many bought ultimate and then paid $30, only to realize they don't actually own the game afterwards. Gaming is in a sad state

I'm not even trying to be snarky, I appreciate the people who are invested in the games and who effectively subsidize some of my gaming. I got the premium version of FH5 as my son was really excited and I was always going to buy the expansions just like I eventually did for FH3 and FH4.

That is really good for early access. I am sure Microsoft is happy right now.

What time does Starfield go live today?

Probably way less than 1%. I know the general masses can be stupid soemtimes but i highly doubt there are many who would sign up to Gamepass then suddenly think they now own 400+ games to keep. Especially as most of them will already be used to sub services like Netflix and Prime etc.

Not surprised in the least bit. Once I saw the 250,000 concurrent players on Steam during early access period, I knew this game would do massive numbers. Considering this is a Bethesda game, it will almost certainly have strong legs too. Looks like Microsoft buying Zenimax was a great strategy after all.

yeah I got the game off Greenman for 20% off. Made the premium edition kind of a no brainer for $80. It's really about the DLC.

Absolutely, and let's not forget Elder Scrolls.

Haters spend an entire week shitposting 24/7, coordinating, digging for any possible controversy from the title screen to the tiles to random NPCs.

Meanwhile Phil and Todd looking at the early access money and pre-orders:

I feel sorry for anyone who spent their energy being so incredibly useless. And I would stop expecting a port any time soon...
Reading "the review thread" I almost believed it's another cyberpunk, there's a consensus that this game is a massive flop there.
Guess fanboys gonna fanboy

This guy must be smoking some serious stuff 🤣

Deserved, great game. Unless you've been living in the review thread with your head up your arse, it seems most people agree.

you did it ya cunts, you normalized paying for early access for AAA single player games and made it popular!!!
bravo!

In the long run this will be might be a more of beneficial thing for better, more stable releases, but it requires people who buy early access to take the phrasing 'early access' 100% literally.

Not surprising, this game is going to sell 15-20 million within 18 months alone just from Steam.

And it's going to have legs for years.

Not sure why people doubted anything but, even SoT sold 5 million in 18 months from Steam & that was 2 years after the original launch.

Edit: Laugh now, you'll learn soon enough 😘 mejin mejin

It is a bit of a scummy practice imo, BUT something that has been happening more and more over the last couple of years, so i'm not sure why people are acting like Starfield is the first game to do it.
Honestly, the early access is just an iteration on waiting for games to go on sale. There was always a premium for getting in day 1. This new style of early access is like getting beta access for pre-ordering except its now early access for pre-ordering DLC.

I bought premium edition but then sat and played D4 with the wife all weekend instead cause they were running a bonus XP weekend haha ... Oh well, happy wife happy life. Still feel it was money well spent for the DLC etc

Todd thanks you for your purchase

I'm confused, that's the number of players playing the game correct?

But how many units have actually sold?
The only people who could play in the early access period are those who purchased the premium edition for $100 or paid $35 for the GamePass version of the premium edition. In other words, each individual account playing = 1 purchase.

But this game is empty and boring and terrible though. I bet Todd Howard and Elon just paid for bots to play it.

Not all of gamepass. I'm talking about paying $30 for Starfield only to realize a month later after GP sub goes out, you can't play the game anymore without subbing again

With gamepass having Xbox live, I think most people are forced to have that sub, or sub to Xbox live gold(new gamepass).
Another shit reason why paying Online mode sucks bad.

Right i get you. i dont know but expansions, dlc's, mtx, have been available in games that have them on Gamepass since the start, and i have never heard any horror stories about that, and they would certainly be posted on this forum if there was lol.
