More sales on one platform than Last of Us 2 had in two years.......Imagine the budget difference between those two games.
I love Helldivers II.
Can understand why Sony wants to focus more on Gaas if they get a hit like this.
? nahhh lol
First, The Last Of Us 2 is almost 5 years old, why would it move 11 million in the last 2 years? It moving 2 million in the last 2 months is impressive btw ,but expecting 11 million over 2 years (many years after launch btw) is odd and seems like a wild reach to compare as if that was a normal thing or expected or something like this.
Second, Helldivers 2 is not only cheaper, but released on 2 platforms.
Third, I don't see any evidence Sony is seeking GASS "more" as in over SP games or something like this, as they literally got companies that focus only on online to do those games ,they did not remove ND, Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch or something weird like this, in order for GAAS to exist to suggest "more"
I think Sony wants to focus on GAAS as much as they want to focus on Single player games, as to why Death Stranding 2, Ghost Of Yotei etc exist along with all their other single player games still in development.
The success of Helldivers 2, is not some argument against the existence of AAA single player games no different then Horizon Zero Dawn moving 25 million units or God Of War moving 25 million units didn't magically stop Sony from making online focused titles too.
This is business.
McDonalds doesn't stop selling Big Macs cause Fries sell more and have a higher yield. As someone that invest in real estate, I don't fucking ignore properties cause I have some that make more money....as in me buying a duplex or 4 plex provides me more money, that doesn't mean ignore single family homes (as you can get a good deal that nets you solid profits in the right neighborhood, state etc especially if its qualifies for section 8)
The point is to make money period, it is not some odd fucking absolute to make ONLY the one that provides some exact profit margin, as this makes no sense and most seem to have a wild idea about this that either down own businesses or don't manage businesses etc
Using this flawed logic, McDonalds should just sell fries, I mean hey "imagine da budget difference" i'm sure they'll do fine selling 1 thing /s
