I want to steal Europa away and pull it into Earth orbit. The ice will melt and we'll have a habitable second moon.
Still think it's crazy we sent something on a 9 year trip just to fly by it. Why not put it into orbit?
Its got other things to check out afterwards. They want to go check out some other Kuiper Belt objects.Still think it's crazy we sent something on a 9 year trip just to fly by it. Why not put it into orbit?
It is clearly an angel.Beautiful. Not really seeing a " heart," though. Not to sound lewd, but it looks like a woman's buttocks/ waist.

They figured out how to get CassiniHuygens out to Saturn and into orbit. Granted Pluto is way farther, bit I think they could do it.Because it would either require a ton more delta v or make the mission 100 years long.

No giant alien structures! Boooooo I say, boo!

That is absolutely incredible.
Any live stream of from NASA mission control?

NH is now 15,000 miles away, which is *really* close. Less than two Earth diameters.
thanks for the replies everyone
I'd be scared as fuck, I guess I'd get used to it over time, but damn, so near... majora's mask nightmares every night
So are we waiting on the four hour delay to say it passed, or in real time and we find out four hours later.
The flyby is happening now, but yea, we wont get any information from it til later. So are we waiting on the four hour delay to say it passed, or in real time and we find out four hours later.
I see so technically it already started zooming by.Delay. Nothing is being sent back at the moment. New Horizons is preparing for the flyby and will be too busy during the flyby to send anything. We should get something around 9pm tonight. The rest of the photos and data will start coming in tomorrow.
Seeing such things always makes me feel strange.
It is 5 minutes away from being the closest it will be.I see so technically it already started zooming by.
Like when you used to climb the rope in gym class?

At the moment, it is 8,000 miles away, which in space terms is incredibly close. Just one Earth diameter.
