I think pretty much all Breeders are like this. They'll battle you every time they see you. Provided you leave the area and come back.
Don't new people only show up every 24 hours? There's nothing to do in Join Avenue the rest of the time.
no, they pop up immediately.
I ran around on my bike and no one new would show up.
trade on GTS, then they pop up right when you go in.

Certainly the worst I can ever think of. It's a boring maze with nothing noteworthy, virtually no trainers, loads of dead ends and a never ending supply of Rattatas.

It's like it exists to irritate with the long time pokemon player, bringing back Zubat and Rattata after our brief respite from them and putting them in the same area together?! surely nobody wanted this!

You need 2 DS systems to transfer the data. Or use Dream World save file syncing.

In regards to Join Avenue... how should I be dividing up having people set up a shop vs. recommending them to someone else's shop? I figured getting all of the shops set up initially would be best, but then I realized I have nothing whatsoever to base that thought process off of

Doesn't this game have a feature where you can tell what Pokemon are on what route using the Map or something?

Yeah the pokedex has a "habitat" list that shows the pokemon that are in the area around you.
If you kill it, it comes back later. Kill it harder, makes it better, do it faster, will make it stronger. DO IT!

Speaking of surf, do you still get it just after it would be really useful against Clay?
Discovering new places with Surf is the best thing about Pokémon.

Oh yes. When you beat Clay and the Driftveil Tourny, Cheren will tell you to come to Route 6, and he'll give you Surf at the Weather Institute.

....edit that. go into the house above the pokemon center, talk to the kid in orange, THEN it'll be on the runway.
