Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I get a Blastoise. I thought my post made that like, abundantly clear.

I tried to get xposed and shit to work in a second account. I still wanted a legit account and use the second for checking out locations, but the game immediately doesn't liked it when you activated mock locations

I have a few questions, probably ones that have been asked a million times:

Do Pokemon always appear in the same place?
How often do the Pokemon refresh?
Is there any way to see where the nearest Gyms are?
What does tapping on Nearby Pokemon do, besides adding a circle to them?

Yeah, this is really fucking unfair. They need to expand the criteria for Pokestops to ensure that there is an equal number in each 5 mile block.

Story of my life, I don't want to drive to enjoy this, they need to add way more pokestops everywhere and do something like let you setup a home and you can get items there like every hour or something like that. I just ran out of pokeballs tonight and luckly I just leveled up otherwise I'd have been screwed :(

My account just got wiped. It is starting me back at the beginning. I lost all of my coins and Pokemon. I'm salty, but I'll get back to level 11 in no time. Has anyone else lost everything?

So John Mayer really likes Pokemon

Seems like a bunch of other celebs are really into it too haha.

Honestly I have no idea who these people are, these are celebrities?

No, but if this starts to happen, we have a big, big problem.

Did you download through an APK?

I lost all my shit but that was when I switched from alpha to the wide release

Still salty I lost all the Pokemon I captured in the alpha, and in addition I lost my alpha nickname. The price I had to pay to test that janky ass app fam

Yesssss
Bout to turn in from walking my dog when
One of the last 10 I managed to get in Blue. Took off after that mon like he owed me money.

Yeah I might just head in for the night. I managed to get three Eevees so my Jolteon plushie lures seem to be working! :D
Awesome! Now I need to get some clearly

Come hang out in Pittsburgh with me. Scythers appear a lot near The Cathedral of Learning. I've caught about six or so.

I wonder if The Pokemon Center/Nintendo NY is getting bombarded with Pokemon orders because of this.

How does the "nearby Pokemon" thing work? I had a Squirtle near me and I couldn't get his footprints down from 3.
If he moves up in the list of nearby Pokemon he's getting closer! (Or other Pokemon are appearing in between but generally it holds.) Otherwise yeah it's kind of a crap shoot what direction they're in. :/

That's pretty funny. Ingress was a lot harder to grasp for a beginner though, everyone understands throwing Pokeballs at Pokemon and then building from there.
There's a little more to it I think- Ingress was cool, but the vibe it was going for was this sort of cyberpunk paranoia tech spy thriller deal. Every once in a while while I was on that I'd eye someone with another cell phone wondering if they could be playing, and feel a sort of suspicion about them, if they were a normal person or part of the war, which was what the game was going for and effective in that regard.

When I see another person out playing PoGo it's essentially glee. Childlike glee. Like Ash running into Brock and Misty (please don't correct me and mention that they were all angry at each other when they first met or something. It's been years. I'm just saying). We're all just pokemon trainers out there in the field.

edit: Edit okay now that I think about it Misty and Brock were Gym Leaders first and then... abandoned their gyms for some reason to roll around with Ash and Pikachu. Whatever still pretty much works actually.

First one I've ever seen around here!

yeah I'm betting these 20 year old characters are actually the most popular they've ever been right now.

How much have you ventured around South Florida?

I wonder what Kendall's like.

(Kark says my neighborhood is actually Pinecrest because it's apparently the white part of town, but it's Kendall I swear.)

I gotta assume people are just playing nonstop and eventually getting strong ass evolved Pokemon in the wild because I refuse to believe someone is running around all day collecting same type Pokemon to evolve low scrub ones. I'm clearly not the target audience as my work keeps me busy all day so I'm still like level 6, it's frustrating seeing all these guys with Pokemon with cps like 500+ when I'd be lucky to hit 300 with buffing.

Has anyone checked out Nintendo NY and see what's over there. I'm guessing lures constantly

That place will be a real hell hole if they decide to do an exclusive event there

Jimmy Fallon just opened his monologue discussing pokemon go
there is nothing more mainstream than a jimmy fallon opening monologue.

Very extensively around Broward except for downtown, but that's it so far. I'm betting Miami-Dade is completely on fire.

edit: Actually here's a shot of FIU from a couple hours ago, from the SoFla League group i'm in on FB:

The worst part is that in meetups, people just look down at their phones. I guess there's just some things you can't avoid.

Just came from the park and while I was there, there were a couple of two old people, around 80, almost 90 i'd say. And they're walking towards us and he suddenly says "Are you trying to catch em all, I'm level 6."

Lmao, that was fun as hell

Man, I love this game for walks. I go on walks a lot with my family so this is great. I just hope the wife doesn't get too annoyed with me constantly stopping to catch stuff :-P

The tracking thing is currently glitched, in that three prints are super unreliable. The tracker list won't refresh correctly so Pokemon with three prints who should have vanished already are still there and where the distance never changes no matter what. Best bet if you are hunting a Pokemon is to reboot the app frequently as too keep the list updated and accurate.

Ash actually stole Misty's bike in the pilot, and she stayed with him to make sure he bought her a new one. :P

Probably depends on your area. The town square by my apartment is filled with folks laughing and having a good time meeting new people. Everyone sharing tips and Pokemon locations. It's the most fun I've had with a game in a long long time.

Cops played with all of us last night. There was like 80 people at the park at 11pm. They seemed to be having a great time

Cops came and joined in with like another 200 people at my local park. Even walking past the bar the other night, the security told us the positions of where Pokémon were. "Boys no Pokémon on this side of the bar, some on the other side near the back". Granted this was in Sydney, Australia so cops generally are top blokes

I had everyone talking, laughing, cracking jokes and so on at our meet ups. And then someone shouts "Dratini" and we all run like loons.

We've had campus security join us whenever large meet ups occur on campus. They play but they're also definitely there to make sure nothing bad happens.

I wish I didn't live in such a sketchy part of town, I pretty much can't leave my house at night. Used to take my dog on walks at 2 am at my old apartment.

So I snooped the traffic and found a few things.
That long pause you get when the white screen shows - its doing nothing network oriented.

The "sign up" page that shows? it shows that even if it can't resolve a single server and you have no network connectivity at all.

After the app starts, it talks over SSL to the DNS of

pgorelease.nianticlabs.com

which for me, is a server in mountain view - part of the googleusercontent cloud.

It also talks to an app analytics company, and an in-app adverts company (upsight-api.com)

Yeah, it's all about your Trainer Level. Don't sweat it, just get dat XP.

I have to say, that really hasn't been my experience!

Well that's a solid motivation if ever I've heard one XD

This game is a death trap, my sister just told me she goes goes around looking for Pokemon while driving and playing at the same time. Im sure there are thousands doing the same if not more.

The Pokemon game launches are bad enough. D:

Damn. :O

I'm probably not visiting any time soon though to check myself. Probably in December. We'll see how the game is holding up by then.

Gonna have to head over there sometime. Sadly the Aviary is not full of bird pokemon.
What area are you in and is it all Drowzees and Zubats like it is in Oakland?
