Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Fuckity fuck. My bags are full.

Can I just discard my 81 potions if I have 30+ super potions already?

Potions can be nice if a super potion doesn't completely heal a Pokemon and you don't want to use a Super Potion for say 15 HP. I wouldn't throw away all your potions.

Now, unless you are actually actively challenging rival gyms and have Pokemon fainting, Revives should be the first thing you get rid of.

I'm taking my game to the next level this afternoon:

You too? I bought this:
JcDBGXE.jpg

Magnetic pad you stick on the back, then snaps-in/off really fast on the mount. Works great for this game. Got several people who were playing the game ask me about it.

I figure i'd have to drop all of them if I want to clear room in my bag, right?

Or is it a total limit?

When you click on the trash can, you can select how many you want to drop, up to the total amount of those items you have.

Again, I'd say Revives are more expendable than Potions, but it depends on how you're playing the game.

was taking over a gym last night and set it to neutral 3 times. each time, within the 5 seconds it took to put a Pokemon up, someone snatched it from me. this is at 1:30AM in a small town.

first, what kinda asshole would steal the gym out from under someone after they set it to neutral? second, who would do it when the person you stole it from is probably a quarter block away. third, who would do that at 1:30AM? but yet, different people did it each time.

So that's

Pokémon is more relevant to my life right now than it was in 1996. XD

Lol, any links to these, I saw the USMC one.

Ah thanks for the replies. I didn't see the total item counter at the top. Figured it was just items slots that were limited but the stacks could go up unlimited.

So today one of my friends has been moaning on the group chat about the fact his town has no Pokestops of Gyms in his area at all. I told him to write a letter to his Local MP demanding that they build new prominent landmarks in his town so that he could have some Pokestops.

Anyway he clearly wasn't up to the challenge and asked me to do it for him, so I did and have emailed it to our local MP. Hope I get a reply.

Dear Mr. Mills,

I am writing to you on behalf of a concerned citizen of Somercotes, Mr Tommy Sharples. It is a problem that has recently been raised that has huge implications for the town of Somercotes in regards to the complete lack of Pokestops and Pokémon Gyms our beloved town has. Since he was a boy he has always dreamed of being a Pokémon Trainer and finally technology has advanced to the point where he is able to fulfil his childhood dreams with the release of the Pokémon Go app.

While not officially released yet in the UK his excitement was so high that he created a US account purely so he could begin his quest to be the best, the very best there ever was in regards to Pokémon. He set out into his town of Somercotes to begin capturing Pokémon and he quickly realised to his horror that there was a huge problem.

You see the Pokémon Go app pulls data from Google maps to place Pokestops and Gyms in real world locations. Mostly these are tied to landmarks that are well known areas for the community, however in the town of Somercotes there is none. There are no notable landmarks in our town that the app can pull data from Google maps in which to create any Pokestops and Gyms in our area.

This is hugely disappointing that our entire area does not have any prominent landmarks for which a simple Pokestop can be placed. Obviously this has a massive impact on his ability to be a Pokémon Trainer and as such he is currently looking at relocating out of our beloved town to a place like Alfreton down the road which has many Pokestops and Gyms all in relative close proximity.

I know he is not alone in this however and there are hundreds of disappointed Pokémon Trainers in the Somercotes area that are also going through the same thing. This could actually lead to mass migration from the town of Somercotes to different, more Pokémon friendly areas. This in turn would result in a massive loss of revenue in the form of Council Tax and local businesses as people flock to new areas. It would mean a huge destabilisation for the economy from the loss of income putting huge amounts of pressure on the budget to keep services like the Police, Fire and Healthcare running, bins wouldn’t get emptied and pot holes wouldn’t get fixed. Within a short space of time the entire town of Somercotes would be an abandoned ghost town, it's only purpose to serve as the opening for a new Call Of Duty game.

As you can see this is not simply a man complaining about a “stupid game” but a genuine concern for the town of Somercotes and the huge ramifications if no action is taken. I urge you to look into all possibilities to create new prominent landmarks within our town that will give the people something to be proud of and put Somercotes on the map and help budding Pokémon Trainers like Tommy fulfil his dreams.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely

It's annoying that you have to waste time healing your pokemon before you can use it in the gym you just won. Gives ample time for sniping.

Holding a gym for more than 10 minutes seems impossible. We had a level 5 gym, filled up with 800+ and one 1390 flareon. And it was taken out like it was nothing, and filled up with pokemon around 500CP.

I think the gym battles are very poorly unbalanced in favor of an opposing team, unless you have a 6+ very high CP guys.

So evil yet so beautiful

You know anything can become a Pokestop/gym even just a bench on a park. The only requirement is that the place can be access by the public (so even a restaurant/bar can be elligible) It's that the problem Niantics closed the suggestion page in 2015 with their game Ingress.

So the truth, it just mean there was no In gress players or not a lot in rural areas. Niantics said they will try to re-open someday the submissions page after they found a way to register all the submissions more easely.

Just ran out of Pokeballs just as I was trying to catch a Squirtle... lol.

Will have to get more pokeballs tonight. I want to avoid spending money frequently. I don't mind spending, but obviously want to make it something like every other week, if I have to.

did you know you can fight gyms with your friends? how a 6-person team can ever withstand 2 6-person teams is beyond me. anyone who has a single other person to go out with them can utterly destroy a gym.

It's just fucked in so many ways. It's impossible to take over solo. It's impossible to hold against a group.

It took three days, but I finally hatched a 5km egg. I had 1.5km left on it, and just worked up the energy to finish it at lunch today (while walking to a restaurant I like that's a bit of a walk away)

It was a Cubone :D

I was hoping for Porygon or Pikachu, but that'll do.

Hey that's awesome then hopefully I can get some more Pokestops in my town too then. Anyway the letter has kept my friend happy that he thinks something will be done about his lack of Pokestops

so, after 2 days, this is the wisdom I have found for new players, and I did it wrong:

- ignore gyms, level your player level first

- don't level any pokemon, because as your player level rises you will find stronger pokemon in the wild, so every stardust or candy you use early level is pretty much wasted

- however, you can use evolving very common pokemon as a way to actually gain player levels because that gives tons of xp. save a lucky egg (doubles xp gain) and tons of common pokemon and their candy and evolve them all when you activate the egg

- walk around, go to every pokestop you can find, catch every pokemon you can find, put eggs in the incubator(s), get tons of stardust and candy but don't use them

now the only question I have at what point it makes sense to level your pokemon and make them dominate. is there a level cap?

When you hit level 20 start team building and making your chosen few pokemon beasts. At level 20 and up you start needing 25k more exp per level it seems. I'm 21 now. Leveling is going so much slower that it's pretty much time to put together your best pokes and conquer the world.

Tried it and am really disappointed honestly. The whole point of Pokémon for me is the battles - I loooooove love love competitive Pokémon battling but they completely ruined the entire battle system in this game.

Not for me I guess. Kinda bummed, I hate being "that guy" but nothing in this looks remotely fun to me. :(

Hung around some lures for a bit and caught a fuck ton of Pidgeys, Ratattas, and Spearows...nothing else really, though. Maybe I just have supremely bad luck
