Saw two kids playing in my neighborhood for the first time today. Overheard one of them ask, "when do the shops appear?" Didn't have the heart to tell him.
Also considered letting them know Bulbasaur and Wartortle appear nearby at night... But nah.
Tried exploring the closest mall today. There is still just nothing, everywhere.

Even if you have no pokeballs, you can enter the capture screen and, you know, I guess wave at the pokemon or feed it berries for fun.

I found a Pikachu and Diglett in this one bird sanctuary near my apartment in Chicago... only problem is that it's a notorious gay cruising spot. Don't wanna look shady walking around alone looking at my phone hahah - I can see another Pokemon Go police story in the making.

Hmm, seems like 10 is the max pokemon you get gold for as I'm currently holding 11 gyms and I still only get gold for 10. Seems fair.
Used the exp egg and did my evolutions to boost my character from lvl 12 to lvl 14. I should probably grab more eggs and just continue leveling my character to make more pokemon appear.
Feels like I've combed through most of the small town I live in and I'm only at 45 pokemon seen. Was hoping there would be more spots for rare pokemon with reliable spawns, would be nearly impossible to evolve them otherwise

This game is something I have never seen in my live as a gamer. Today I decided to walk some random road and visit some pokestops for items. I see 3 pokestops which where injected so decided to go there. No kidding there where more as 50 people!! All sorts of age etc and we kept injecting it. Had to leave now because it was 10 pm and getting dark but dammit this game.. got some really good ones too and had a great time, everyone was like:'wow this is insane all those people here etc!'
In my live as a gamer and I didnt think I would say this about a mobile game, this is the best game ever because as a game dev it captures everything you want to accomplish and is driving on HUGE nostalgia. The app isnt even out here yet!

What backwoods town do you live in where you can control 10 gyms consecutively for any sustained period of time?

Go for a walk to the 3 pokestops in my village to top up, then along the fields to get this damm egg hatched (nearly) and don't get this till i'm about to put the key in the door!
That shot was from Elyria, Ohio. There are three pokéstops in the city center, and one gym. Nothing by the mall. I live in Lorain right now and there are some areas populated with pokéstops, but none within convenient walking distance. The closest ones are actually a town over. And I hate to drive and get them... Goes against the ethos of the game. I'd love to be able to go on walks with my son and snag new supplies, but that's impossible right now.Whoa. Now that they see how far-reaching the appeal of this game is, they are getting a ton of feedback on this issue and I do believe they will try to rectify it.
What's especially disappointing about the two closest spots are that they are on either end of a playground. How much of a creep would I be to stalk back and forth while kids are swinging all around me?
Somehow the local gyms are still stocked with 1000+cp Pokémon. Kids must be playing nonstop.
Every time a post like this ends with this line, it blows my mind apart. There must be some other people here that have worked in mobile or software in general that understand how off-the-charts nuts that is.

I just realized the same attacks do the same damage .
Its just that the same Pokemon can have the different attacks.
Eevee for instance has
Quick attack (10) or Tackle(12) for primary
while
Dig (45) or Swift (25) or Body Slam(50) for special

How do you hold so many gyms at once? Most of the gyms around here are constantly under attack. There are a couple near my house that are far enough out of the way that I was able to hold one for 24+ hours. It's located in a gulch that can't be reached from any roads, you actually have to go hike down into the gulch to capture it.
Downtown though I can't hold a gym for more than a few minutes before it's gone.

Game is imbalanced as fuck.
Lures are wonderful in theory but they're way, way too good. You get more walking a single block with 1-2 lures than you do walking 2+ km in the country. That's just wrong. If you did a single loop with those lures you'd get more Pokemon in 30 minutes than I would in two days.

Let them have their lures. Just improve things for the rest of us.
Each point is a pokestop where you can get items. The ones with the flower petals around them means somebody has place a lure there attracting pokes to the spot.
I agree. That screencap is from work in the middle of the city. Back in my Brooklyn neighborhood, it seems more balanced. Less stops, scattered around, a good amount to encourage actual walking vs camping... and the occasional lure in the distance. It should be like that everywhere.

As for the latter, I doubt it. I actally saw the kitten getting thrown out of a house by a girl.
Like, she didn't even bothered to gently put it on the ground, she just threw the kitten from high enough that I thought it could have gotten hurt, but that didn't happen fortunately.

I'm in europe where the game isn't officially out yet, I guess that helps. There are people playing here and gyms are exchanging hands between teams, but usually that happens every couple hours or so and in the more populated areas. There are also gyms at the edge of the town which no one seems to be visiting.
Haven't also encountered a pokemon stronger than 500 CP in the gyms while I dropped two 700 electabuzz and a 900 CP vaporeon into my gyms. (mostly thanks to the lvl 12 - > 14 bump I got today)

This game needs more Pokémon. If I have to run into garbage Pokemon all the time at least let me see Roggenrolas in addition to Zubats, or allow me to evolve my Zubat into something cool.

I thought I had hit the Stardust cap today. Turns out I just hit 9999 by complete coincidence. Glad there isn't a limit, or, if there is, that it's higher than that. I also hatcher a Machop from an egg, then caught a Machop about 5 minutes later! Which means I'm one Machop away from a Machoke! Oh yeah!
