Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

So how do you raise the CP of Pokemon? The power up option requires one of those Candies, so that means I can't raise my Squirtle at all. =(
You need to catch more Squirtles.

Also, don't raise the level of a Squirtle. Evolve it, get that Blastoise, then worry about leveling.

You're going to have a hard time raising that initial Squirtle (not a common monster it seems). Most likely you'll find a better Squirtle or evolution even, later on and trade the weak one for a candy to the Prof.

By the time you catch another Squirtle to get the candies for powering up or evolving, the newer Squirtle will be a better investment anyway (likely higher CP starting point).

Evolving or powering up. Each uses candy

Whats up with the wierd battle system? Pokemon Co/Nintendo protecting the main franchise games?
It's hard to keep the original battle system on a mobile game where you expect people to stay at the same location only for a minute or so tops. Even worse if you have to fight to catch Pokemon. That is, unless they changed the whole system to make it so that you don't need to multiple Pokemon to be able to evolve them and whatnot :P

Helped take down a gym in downtown Seattle for Mythic, and reinforced another one on my train ride home. Feels good man! Also if I get one more zubat I'm going to scream.

If that is the reasoning, it's a poor move! No chance the "main" franchise is ever going to come close to how popular Go is.

More likely this system is more mobile friendly and allows fights to be MUCH faster.

High level Pokemon fights are either super quick or can last 20+ min easily.

I coulda swore that Anker battery case was under $30 bucks last week. Now it seems like its been selling out with a higher price and the earliest it'll arrive is next week! Whaaat

Yup. Also, I know a lot of people who find the original battle system too complicated and wouldn't be playing Pokemon Go if it was the same.

Yeah I think keeping it simple is intentional. I don't think a bit of added complexity for Gym Battles is a bad idea though, because most casual players will never even touch that side of the game.

Is a CP 381 Charmander worth evolving? I'm level 18 if that factors in at all. Or should I wait until I come across a much higher CP? Up until this one, the next highest I caught was a CP 230.

Retail Pokémon games can make as much money with less users. What a concept

The smartest thing to do would be to unlock features by owning both

400 candy to evolve a magic carp?

Its about as hard as the game was.

Observations from the past few days:

I am awash in pokespots. Which is great. However when I travel to parts of DC that are not as well off but just as filled with actual monuments or parks the pokespots disappear and the gyms are few and far between. Its really sad and a bit disappointing.

Given the amount of people I've run into who have been playing the game, I'm going to go ahead and assume everyone I see on their phone is playing. Its been a great bonding experience in my neighborhood. But its sure brought out the inner bully of people my age who apparently really never matured.

And has anyone else on iphone noticed that pokemon go is ceasing the health app from counting steps? I'd much prefer to have my steps counted over the long term as I've been doing for years but Go seems to be the cause.

your level dictate the cp when it evolve, unless you worry about the hp stats (size) just evolve it.

Yeah it's easier for people to do without having to worry about any of the deeper stuff. I doubt they will ever change it either just keep it simple.

You really think they are going to make the same money off the retail games? I can't see the revenue coming close to this, but happy to be proven wrong.

Nooo! I encounter a Blastoise in my street. After wasting many berries and balls it ran away. Then another appears nearby, I proceed to track it down. While tracking it down a Golbat Icon appears as well. I failed miserably and my consolation prize was a Weepinbell.

granted, none of the later gens surpassed RGBY, but they still sell in the millions. they don't even make spin-off games when they absolutely could. I'd love a Pokémon Snap 2.

Fortunately, people will still buy experiences that are superior to mobile.

Do you have to hold a gym for a full day in order to get rewards? I live in such a busy area that most gyms are lucky if they last 2-3 hours.

No. You'll be able to claim rewards every 21h. The amount you're rewarded is in relation to when you make your claim. So if you can occupy slots in as many gyms as you can in those 2h and claim. You're pretty good. (also I'm guessing you're not on an underdog team if you can hold it for 2h :x So you'll do ok ;D )

Why wouldnt they? They sell millions at 40 bucks a pop. I dont see why it wouldnt be over this still. Either way it doesn't matter cause they can crank out both and reap the money from both experinces.

I cannot stress enough how much I want an Arcanine, he is my second favorite pokemon and my only option really is to hatch Growlithe from an egg. It is such a struggle

lol the GPS is screwing up on my phone so it sent me for a walk about two blocks up the road and back, was able to hit a Pokestop up the road without even leaving the apartment. Good for my eggs I guess.

So i'm reading everywhere that the Gym Bonus is every 21 hrs but i took over a gym and became the gym leader and decided to train 5 times to raise the prestige. Afterwards I noticed that the 21 hr timer went down to 16 hrs after only 15 minutes of battling there.
