We will get it (hopefully) sometime between today and January 2017 (assuming 1 country per day and we are the very last country to get it). Keep the hopes up!

I bet on monday for Japan, because France is more likely to get it tomorrow, and I don't see them release it on a sunday.

But they're really stupid to not release it today or tomorrow, just before Yokai Watch 3 releases. They could totally crush it, and they don't event take advantage of such a wonderful timing. And the 3 days week end also.

That doesn't make any sense.
 
Not too many amazing finds today but I did just catch a 800+ Pinsir which is awesome. I almost have enough candies to get Nidoking too.
 
40 minutes walk around our local park, not a single Pokémon. Get back to a road, 2 Pokémon pop up straight away.

Do you HAVE to be close to a road to catch anything?
 
I don't understand why they are releasing it in more countries when the servers are still fucked in the current countries. I mean I don't know anything about servers but that seems counter productive to me. Is there a method to the madness?
 
This morning selecting the local gym to check it out from distance has been hard crashing the game (droid, official latest build uk). "Pokémon GO isn't responding" and "unfortunately Pokémon GO has stopped", neither of which I've seen before.

Anyone else?
 
Was half an hour away from getting my defender bonus and some punk half my level just bruteforced their way past.

Gyms are disappointing. 21 hours is way too much for this sort of game.
 
Well I'm finally at a point where leveling is super tedious since I can't get enough balls from the few stops in my town to make a dent in my experience. I don't blame people at all who are messing with the GPS who are in a similar situation or even worse. For me to even find 2 overlapping stops I need to drive nearly 30 minutes and there's no guarantee they're constantly lured. Seeing people in cities have 3-4 lured spots all dropping rare pokemon is disappointing.

You do realize you can just wait to collect and then takeover some gyms before finally collecting?
 
Hatched a ton of my eggs tonight.

New pokemon that I didn't have yet were Abra, Magnemite, Pikachu, Voltorb, and Omanyte.

Also got a Magikarp from a 2km egg but that saves me some farming for candies anyway.

And I caught a Porygon!

If they use local server farms, deploying a new country/region with it's own servers would ease the load on the other servers.
Don't know if/how they do it that way though.

Since Google is co-owner I assume they use googles infrastructure to host:

I fear for the servers when Japan gets it.

Currently in the UK the servers go to hell at around 7pm, which is 11am PDT/2pm EDT but the day is absolutely fine.

When Japan gets it, the day will die for the UK :(

I'm pretty sure I lost the same one to a case of server-falling-over.

From what I've seen though Brighton is a pretty great place to play it, tonnes of landmarks/art/places of interest around and super high population density.

So you wait until the timer runs out for your collection and it wants you to tap it to collect. It's not automatically done if you hold a gym it's something that you actually collect yourself. So once your timer has ended just go takeover a couple gyms and then press collect so you get the rewards. No need to hold a gym for 24 hours.
 
I'm sure this has been discussed in this thread already but I'm curious as to people's opinion:

When they eventually add new pokemon (how long do you think it is until that happens?), do you think they will add Gen 2 or will they go to Gen 7 (to hype up Sun & Moon) and eventually make their way through the other generations?

I assume they'll go with Gen 2...? I was thinking.. if they release them every half a year, that'd be 3.5 years.. damn. Maybe they release new gens every 3 months until they match the mainline games? Or maybe make it so that their schedule eventually matches their Gen 8 release with the Gen 8 Pokemon game?

I wouldnt put it pass them to try some form of cross promotion with Sun and Moon. Now how they do that who knows.
 
Stupid question from a beginner:
When does the app actually count the distance you travel?
It doesn't seem like it's working when it's running in background or standby.

You're not supposed to keep the screen on all the time, are you?

It isn't, you need to have it open. Go in to the settings and turn on 'Battery Saver' which will at least dim the screen during use.

There's a battery saver option in Settings that dims the screen when you have your phone upside down.

Of course, the times I used it sometimes made my screen unresponsive.
But yes. You can't have the game in the background.

Can I call this "dumb design"?
I mean it makes sense when you out for Pokèmons or gyms, but it's a total waste if you are just hatching eggs when taking a walk.
 
Went to a Keep the glass at a craft beer and wine bar at a downtown area near my home, that place and the surrounding area was lit with pokestops, gym's and lures. The sweet thing about it was, me and my homie and a few other people were drinking. People kept dropping lures right were the bar was which sat right in between two pokestops! felt like I had an infinite number of pokeballs lol! got quite a few pokemon I didn't have or seen.

I really hope they dont go past gen 3 MAX

Can you imagine trying to catch 700+ Pokemon

There is not enough bag storage in the game

Maybe they will sell new gens as DLC

I think it's smart design... for them. That way they lapsed Twitter, Snapchat and all the other Apps in usage. For catching Pokémon and walking I think it's ok but for biking it's dumb. I'm not interacting with my phone anyway.

That's absolutely not happening. They'll sell bag storage (they already do), but selling the things you have to spend money to capture wouldn't make sense in any way.

I'm not sure they even will roll out Pokémon by generations. At least, as far as the older generations go. That seems like the most obvious way for long-time fans, but I think there are various other ways that would work better for a game like this. Seasonal, holiday, event-based (i.e. a batch featured in the newest movie, a batch from the most recent game, etc.), theme-based ("The baby update!", "The evolution update!", etc.), popularity-based, etc..

Either way, I kind of expect it to be several months at minimum.

For hatching it would be nice if for example the step tracker from the iphone would work...but maybe we will get something in one of the updates...i mean somehow they have to incorporate those "notifications" i granted them^^
