back at FSU I started a pokemon battling group, and so I know tons of pokemaniacs in the early to mid twenties range. Its not so uncommon considering we grew up with those games. Plus everyone has respect for the theme song, and even those who don't play can't resist singing along.

I am so hyped for the AU release of this. I can finally play through this the way it was meant to be played (my only experience with the original game was messing around with a Japanese version for a while).
Any word on an Australian release date or will I have to import a bitch?

Here are the ones that you can't get in either version. There are also version exclusives, so if you only buy one of the games there will be an additional set of pokemon you can't get without trading

Turns out the first actually important exam I have is on the 18th of April, and two weeks after the games come out I'm off school for good. I have all the time in the world to play now!
The only problem now is the tournaments. My exams start exactly one month after the release date, meaning exactly when the tournaments start. I sure hope you guys will have a rerun in July or something.

I was in the same situation as you. Only played Red via Pokemon Staidum for the N64 back in the days. Was madly into pokemon, but without ever owning handhelds I couldn't continue the adventure until I decided to get a DSi and Heart Gold this xmas.DarknessTear said:

Anyway, I checked Prima's website, and found what I expected. The first strategy guide comes out alongside the game while the second one comes out a month later. The first one is for the main game while the second one is a complete National Pokédex and post-game walkthrough (assuming the latter part because that's how it's ALWAYS been).

I am hyped for this. Though I will probably wait. I play minimal multiplayer which I consider to be broken at the competitive level.
Man, I've been on a training binge recently. I'm planning a second team to potentially use in the tournament and have already finished two Pokemon and am working on the third. I forgot how fon teambuilding can be when you're not breeding for at least 3 perfect IVs, the correct nature and ability. :lol
Keep both. IIRC handing a power item to a pokemon when breeding causes the corresponding stat to always get passed over in HGSS. With a little daycare trickery you could get something really good.

Just seen that the special coloured pichu is released in europe this friday!!!!
Event runs from March 5th to 26th for european users, you download it off wifi so no store events, it unlocks a special event in HG/SS that gets you a spikey eared pichu just incase people dont know.
I cant beleive Europe will have caught up on 2 events in the space of 2 weeks, all we need now is the jirachi to be released next week and we will have it all!

Playin Soul Silver is gonna be like being a kid again =)
I'm still not sure if I should get this game. Part of me is weary about the $40 price tag, the developers not fixing the major issues I had with Diamond/Pearl, and having no way to transfer the hundreds of Pokemon I caught in Diamond into HG/SS. But part is me is like IT'S A WHOLE NEW WORLD WE LIVE IN POKEMON JOHTO
