Pokemon: Black and White 2 sell 1.619m in 2 days

When they get to the 3DS version.

Seriously Pokemon 3DS is going to be so good just for all the new features they'll get to use. Pokewalker + C-Gear is basically a proto-streetpass anyway.

Good way to pick up chicks.

Pokemon Stadium, Coliseum, XD, and Battle Revolution all say hi

If Colosseum and XD are symbolic of the future of the RPGs, then the future looks awful. So slow.

Fortunately, Game Freak have been moving towards speed in the battle system; I can't see them moving to 3D models if it sacrifices that much speed.

If they go to 3D games they should have some stylistic choices and not linger on characters; lots of very full on comic book style animations that are sharp and punchy. As the 2D games have.

Much like the actual Pokemon shows have/had. But obviously more animated.

Well, they already sorta did going from GBA to DS, so...

Worst comes to worst, battles will probably run at 30fps constant, or (30fps 3D/60fps 2D).

The thing I wanna see the most is what style they'll use for the 3DS ones. Sprites on 3D plane again for overworld? All 3D, with stylized 3D models? One thing's for sure; they'll definitely be using those 3D Pro models in the next games, since they finished them.

I'm excited to see what they can do with the 3DS. We've been moving towards fully 3D games, at least outside of battle, and I think the 3DS will finally give Game Freak the excuse to bite.

As much as i would hate full 3DS games the features that they could do would be amazing. They could make trading, battling, and acquiring event pokemon a lot easier and a lot more fun.

The only problem with keeping sprites is that they would have to be created from the ground up in order to accommodate for the higher resolution. Slap another 100-150 Pokemon on there, with animations, and you're looking at shitloads of work. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it's very likely that they'll switch to full-3D. It's easier and it pushes the device's namesake harder than sprites would.

Nintendo really needs to make a Pokemon MMO for Wii U, the printing of money will last decades.

No, they need to incorporate MMO features into the current engine and have it available for Pokémon Gin and Tonic on 3DS.

Honestly, if they just added servers which simply allowed players to chat, trade and battle it'd make Pokémon a billion times more appealling.

Man, Pokemon Black has to be (thus far) one of the worst Pokemon games I have ever played. So far (before getting to the 4th gym leader), I've encountered nothing but normal and fighting type Pokemon O__o

I really hope B/W 2 fixes this.

Actually, I much preferred Pokémon Black to Diamond, much much much preferred it.

I'm just hoping they make significant improvements for Gin and Tonic.

Nothing will beat Diamond/Pearl and fire types.

They have now recreated all Pokemon in 3D in the new Pokedex Pro for the 3DS. I seriously believe those 3d models are what we'll get in Pokemon 3DS. I doubt they'd take the time to create so many models just for some nebulous pokedex app.

Purrloin (Dark)
Munna (Psychic)
Pansage (Grass)
Pansear (Fire)
Panpour (Water)
Blitzle (Electric)
Roggenrola (Rock)
Woobat (Psychic/Flying)
Drillbur (Ground)
Tympole (Water/Ground?)
Sewaddle (Grass/Bug)
Venipede (Bug/Poison)
Cottonee/Petitil (Both Grass)
Sandile (Ground/Dark)
Darumakka (Fire)
Dwebble (Rock/Bug)
Sigilyph (Psychic/Flying)
Yamask (Ghost)
Maractus (Grass)
Trubbish (Poison)

Non-normal/fighting types you should have encountered before the 4th gym.
Your point is invalid.

There's always the console battle sim for Wii U.

BW has some of the best wild Pokemon availability and variety in the series, outside of a few types like Ice.

You're not looking hard enough or getting super unlucky.

I've seen a little over half of those in the wild.

I saw my first legit grass type with Maractus like 30 minutes ago and it's completely shit.

Well, you're doing it wrong or you're unlucky. As was said, BW has one of the best early type distributions in a non-3rd game Pokemon game ever.

To be fair you can only get one of the "Pan" monkeys as a gift and Drillbur is like the Tabune of caves.
Even so, non normal/fighting types should be in the majority.

Also, don't hate on Maractus. Have some class ;)

From what I've seen of it, it still looks like they're using the N64 models on the old ones. Pikachu had the same animations, anyway.

I was going to say I had a Roggenrola, Blitzle, Pansear, Woobat, Sandile and Oshawot(I don't remember where exactly each one evolved at) all in my party by the 4th gym. I also didn't have a guide or any clue as to what pokemon were available in any areas. You could also technically count the starters. Either way by the 4th gym you can get every type pokemon outside of Steel, Dragon, and Ice.

Are you avoiding the grass or something? Most of these I encountered an annoyingly amount of times except for maybe the grass and electric types which were a bit more uncommon.

I've been thinking about the game's overworld style for 3DS. I feel (hope) it will be more like a traditional JRPG style. Take a look at Tales of Legendia (in towns and such). Something like that? Probably with more chibi-like characters instead of the cross-over you see in Legendia? Hard to put into exact words.....

Something like Digimon World 3, except actual 3D models instead of sprites.

I wish they finally get rid of grid gameplay and go free movement (even if it's still with sprites). There was a reason it was there in the first place due to Gameboy limitations, but they're carrying over too much legacy stuff that can be done much better already. Besides, counting character steps instead of tiles is almost as easy to implement and will make RNG abusing a much harder chore.

It's a shame that GF engineers are almost one gen late with all of their games. GBA games pale in comparison to launch stuff like Golden Sun (especially in the battles) being just a minor upgrade on GBC games. 4th Gen could have been done without much effort on the GBA and it took them like 4 years into the DS lifespan to make usable touch controls because in DPPt it looked like they just developed a non-touch one-screen game and just told the interns to cram the touchscreen menu interface in the last month of development. That's why I don't have much faith in 6th gen, because taking precedents into account it will be just a resolution upgrade over 5th gen engine at best.

At this point, I would be happy if they just manage to encrypt the savegame hard enough to avoid script kiddies downloading and cloning their usual cookie-cutter shiny pokémon hacked to perfect genes directly from strategy sites and using them at tournaments. I haven't personally been to any of them in real life, but a friend of mine did and told me it was so obvious that most people had pokémon with the same nicknames in the very same teams.

That's good to know. Colosseum and XD still used N64 models. Not sure about Battle Rev.

BR is guilty of this as well. Advanced shading and lightning can only disguise so much, but low-poly N64 models for old pokémon are still there in full force.

All the screenshots I've seen of it lead me to believe they are using Pokepark models.

Pikachu in particular looks way better than it did in Battle Revolution.

It is pretty obvious that GameFreak is slowly building up a (higher quality) library of 3D Pokemon models, I can't see how they won't use these in future 3DS games. They would save so much time and effort on animations with a switch to 3D for all Pokemon games.
