Been playing it up to the 4th area. My thoughts on the battle mechanics so far.
Love that i can change moves on the fly, fuck that heartscale shit with tutors. But there isn't much need to change moves without a gyms and what not.
I like that status buffs last a few turns, gives extra depth. Not sure how i feel that it buffs both physical and special. Moves get too samey.
Moves being quick is great, though battling needs more visual clues rather spelling things out. Take shin megaten 5 damage number on hit or miss on miss, no extra text box.
I like the change to frozen, it was a shit status. Sleep not so much, should of been two stage, drowsy>sleep with two attacks. Trap move changes make sense for this game.
