Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

You like Mijimaru, your opinion is null. :P
Mijimaru for life! ^_^ I like both of the new legends for different reasons. Reshiram because it's all white, simple, and could be a pure flying type. Zekrum because he has both wings and arms and looks cool, and is on the box of the version I'm buying. =D

it's alright cause it's all white!

Does this mean us with non-DSi's are gonna have a sucky game? =/

Or does it mean that it'll have certain DSi features and that it will simply use the region restriction?

Lati@s are Dragon. Rayquaza is too.

Giratina too of course.

Oh right, forgot about Giratina. Anyway, the Lati@s aren't that important (they're just roamers and even then they aren't important in the lore).

For those that didn't catch it:

Reshiram. Shiro = White

Zekrom. Kuro/Kro = Black

I'm also crossing my fingers for a new Light type.

Old Pokemon that I think could be retconned as Light type =

Happiny evo chain (Normal/Light)
Clefairy evo chain (Normal/Light)
Jirachi (Steel/Light)
Mew (Psychic/Light)
Togepi evo chain (Flying/Light)
Palkia (Light/Dragon, so it wouldn't be completely inferior to Dialga)
Cresselia (Psychic/Light to make it more of a counterpart to Darkrai)

I hope the DSi features just consist of the new wireless encryption.
It would be such a dick move to release a game I actually want that has good DSi features right before the 3DS is out.

Wait for the enhanced Grey version!

If this doesn't have at least the new WiFi stuff, I'm going to throw a fit.

and still buy the game

I don't want a Light type, we have the perfect amount of types now.

I agree. And besides, what would happen to Pokemon like Solrock, Lunatone, Ampharos, and Gardevoir who already fall under a "light" category? Either Gamefreak would need to go back and redo the typing of certain Pokemon or be inconsistent and only give it to new ones.

It would cause too much confusion, I think.

Exactly, furthermore Light type sounds lame :^p

Will a euro DSi work with American/Canadian DSi enchanced game?

Nope. Fucking stupid but it won't work. Importers like me are really starting to feel Nintendo's dick up their ass these days. Luckily this hasn't affected me too much yet, but I'm sure one day there will be a good UK DSi game that I cant play on my US system.

Crap I hope it doesn't have DSi features, because it would be region restricted. I don't want to play on my DS Lite...>_>;

Unfortunately it will be locked to same-region systems, the product code guarantees that. Nintendo had better make use of the DSi features. I wouldn't be surprised if it's region locking and nothing else because we all know how pissy Nintendo can get with importers, especially when dealing with Pokemon.

Didn't they already do this to some Pokemon in Gen II?

For example the Magnemite evo chain is now Electric/Steel. It's not like it's completely unheard of.

Types were added, but I don't think types were changed.

It's no more arbitrary than 'Bug' or 'Ghost'.

Er, that's what I'm saying. Get rid of these!

edit: ideally, i'd like 9 types - 3 sets of 3 that work in a rock-paper-scissors fashion. ah well.

they just added a type, this would require changing 100+ pokemon and the need to rebalance the entire game

That seems too formulaic. I like it when it's tangled and complicated.

The only thing that needs to be fixed is the type relations. I already went over this before, but Poison is pathetic, and it deserves better seeing as it's fucking POISON and it should kill everything. At the very least, it should be strong over Psychic (it's the opposite right now for some fucked up reason) and Fighting. And it always confuses me how Ice isn't strong on Fighting (though Fighting should stay strong on Ice too).

Bug has its place too. It should be strong over Poison, especially if you make Poison stronger. And of course no type/attack/Pokemon can ever be removed from the games, because of the kids. It can only pile up more and more.

They need to rebalance the game as is.

What I'd like to see most is a system that makes early stage Pokemon usable. I'd love to have a Surskit if it could actually do something with it's typing, but it's just a useless Pokemon.

Very few old ones were changed, most of the Dark and Steel types were introduced in Gen II.

That would be great, but I doubt they would take away types.

Magnemite/Magneton are the only ones though. The sole exception.

I think the types could use better balancing nowadays but there are better ways of doing it then adding another type. Plus, as we saw with the introduction of Steel and Dark, adding a new type to balance them only leads to really arbitrary weaknesses/resistances.

I'm wondering. . . this question probably can't be answered yet, though. . .
Lets say you bought a North American 3DS when it launches, and then ordered Pokemon Black/White from Japan, since it is a DSi enhanced game, would you be able to access those features?
I know that Nintendo has the DSi region locked, which sucks, but I wonder what will happen with the 3DS.
Hopefully it won't be locked at all.

You won't even be able to play it. Assuming it is on a DSi cart.

the bare minimum of course is region locking. dsi features, camera maybe?

If it doesn't have the DSi logo I doubt it would use any feature except for region locking. But then again maybe it's not final boxart.

3DS is compatible with DSi games.

With the game coming out so soon in Japan when can we expect all the new Pokemon to be shown? I forgot how early they released pictures of Gen IV's new Pokemon.

They showed trading between Gen 4 and 5 is possible. Now they're showing Reshiram and Kekrom.

That's about all I got, but there could have been more.

But we're talking about a JP DSi game on a US 3DS. Not a chance in hell that the game will be playable on that machine.

Oh, theres DSi enhancements?

Suck on that, Andrex!

With gen 4 they trickled info out over the course of . . . years I think the final month before release is when most Pokemon were shown in Corocoro.

But before there there had been Lucario + the mons in his movie and the starters.

If by enhancement you mean region locking. No DSi logo means no features.

Also, it using TWL and not whatever the 3DS's codename was means they won't be 3DS-enhanced. So suck on that Black-Wind!

If my memory serves me, then the Wi-Fi logo wasn't on the pre-release DP boxart either.

So we really shouldn't assume "No DSi features" yet. :)

Maybe not. I still contend with my original statement that these games have nothing to do with the 3DS though. :)

What Nintendo game has had DSi enhancements? You guys just need to accept that the DSi was just a stopgag system you were tricked into buying and that Nintendo is never going to risk splitting the market by supporting it seriously.

Here's hoping Nintendo made it so you have to actually download event Pokemon onto the card. I don't want the secret 2 or 3 they put in there to get found out this time.

That'd make things fun.

They almost have to be on the card. All the assets for each pokemon have to be on every cart, or else if you went to battle one you wouldn't be able to see it. They could leave some space and allow you to download it somehow if you were to encounter one, but that seems like an unsure and messy way of doing things.

I know it's unlikely but still. Having Darkai, Shaymin and Arceus known about right when d/p came out was a big disappointing.

Which they'll make available only for 1 week then never again (in-store events) or 1 month (wifi events) then never again? No thanks. Even if I wanted to get in on Gen IV now I'd be sooo missing out on lotsa things cause of these limited time events. An idea like this would only work if Nintendo decided to leave their mystery gift server on 24/7 for the 4 to 5 years each generation lasts >.>
