Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

Maybe we'll see new Pokemon animations on PS

Hopefully. That's pretty much all it's good for.

Also, some cool speculation going around that Zekrom's Terra Voltage ability will let it hit Ground-types with Electric moves. :O

Really, really doubt it. That would mean Turbo Blaze would have to do the same for Reshiram, but no types are immune to Fire.

I'd say that it's much more likely that Terra Voltage is simply referring to teravolts.

So Terra Voltage will probably just Up the power of Electric moves?

I hope they mix the box system from Platinum with HG/SS for Black and White. The thing I hate about HG/SS box system is the lack of the "yellow hand" ability to move Pokemon in mass (unless I just haven't been able to figure it out yet lol).

That, the Vs. Seeker, and being able to put the map on the bottom screen while searching for roaming pokemon are the three things I miss the most whenever I play HG/SS.

Well it looks like the Poketch will be back so the last thing should be returning, at least.

Probably, and Turbo Blaze will likewise just be a glorified Blaze, either making its effects instantaneous or increasing the multiplyer.

It'd be nice if the abilities were a little more unique, though.

So we can probably guess that Flaming Ape is going to learn Belly Drum, at least. Now I really need either Firepig or it to have a second type so I can justify carrying both in my party.

Serebii of Serebii.net posted in GFAQs that Fire Baboon's Ability, Encourage Boost the power of all it's attacking move while removing the side effect the moves have( guessing Headbutt won't flinch, Fire Blast wont inflict burn etc)

Pignition's most likely gonna be fire/ground, since pigs are used to dig truffles.
That will be kinda cool actually. Hopefully a special version of Torterra (with new special Ground attacks).

Ookami-kun said:
Man, all these new abilities make it seem like they're broken.
Earthquake Spiral: At most, this will only boost him once without stacking up. There are way too many boosts going on in a battle for this to be broken.

Fire guy: It's kind of like a worse version of Normalize, though the Pokemon should be stronger than Delcatty. Seems pretty good but secondary abilities save my ass every day.

I thought they changed Earthquake spiral to overconfidence due to mistranslation.

Right. The ability is "jishin-kajou" (じしんかじょう). They originally thought of it as 地震渦状 "earthquake spiral," whereas 自信過剰 "overconfidence" makes a lot more sense, both in terms of the ability's function (strength boost upon toppling an opponent) and in terms of the language itself (i.e. 自信過剰 exists as an expression in Japanese).

PokeBeach says there is now an indicator that shows you the status of the weather. Was this in the scans? I looked at them again and couldn't find anything in the battle screenshots.

Yeah, there's a small screen of the battle menu on the scan with the map of Isshu. You can quite clearly make out some sort of indicator showing that is raining.

Watch them remind you every turn that it's raining anyway.

Oh that's the battle menu? Looks pretty great. I wonder if they will have similar icons for Spikes or Stealth Rock.

I'm reading the Platinum thread start to finish now and the complaints boil down to:

1. Battle speed, mostly because of weather effects and status conditions
2. HMs

It seems like they may have knocked the first one out, just need to do the second, then yes, you'll be right. Handheld Games of the Forever.

Hey, remember this list I made a while back?

1) Speed up battle animation - Weather effects are easily the worst offenders. Instead of wasting time every turn telling me it's raining, how about actually SHOW IT RAINING. I'm sure the DS/DS2 can handle that.

:D :D :D

2) Animated Pokemon sprites - Nothing too major, DQ style idle and attack animations would be enough. It would add SO much life to battles.
:D

3) Make stat mechanics more transparent - Just add some way to see EVs/IVs in game; we already have a hundred ways to manipulate them! not necessarily the raw numbers, just some bars for each of the stats would be sufficient. you could even call them "special training/natural talent". A personality trait and a ribbon just don't cut it anymore.
Who knows?

4) More unique Pokemon types - I'm pretty sure that we have enough Rock/Ground and Bug/Flying Pokemon. How about Electric/Poison or Ice/Fighting? Hell any Fire Pokemon at all would be a nice change.
:D

5) More diverse Pokemon available - There are currently 493 Pokemon. Four hundred and ninety three. So why am I still seeing Zubat and Geodude in EVERY CAVE?! mix it up people!
I'm hopeful.

6) Make every Pokemon available in the games - This doesn't mean that there should be no version exclusives, but i should have to go to a particular shop miles away from my house because some ultra rare Pokemon is going to be available the for two days only. I don't care if I "don't need it to complete my pokedex", don't do it. sealing them away in side game can get lost too. (I'm looking at you, Jirachi/Manaphy.)
:(

7) HMs, fix them - Either make them all useful in battle, make them not take up a move slot or remove them altogether.
Maybe...

8) Improve the endgame - Basically, combine everything done so far. a brand new area to explore post elite 4 preferably with its own gyms, rebattle defeated gym leaders, battle the protagonist of a previous game and a battle frontier.
This is practically guaranteed after Platinum and HG/SS, right?

9) A more robust online system - What we have now is really good for a first try but next generation we should have much more:
A. Clamp down on hacked pokemon being traded on GTS. Nobody wants them.
B. Give player the ability to choose rules. We can already do it in PBR.
C. Some sort of Quick Match system too.
D. Unlimited replays! Or at least more than 3.
:D :D :D

10) Customisable trainers - you did it in PBR, bring it over to the mainline games!
No, but they look pretty good as is.

I'm quite surprised at how much they've hit already with the game still far from release.

it's raining! did you see that? we told you it's raining. See we're showing you it's raining. Just in case you're confused, it's raining.

If weather is in play, it should just remain animated over the action. Showing rain between turns makes no sense. Just play the rain over the battle as it plays out. No need for messages. Same with sandstorms, sun, whatever.

I dunno if we should be too hasty with our excitement, though. The original Japanese states that you can check the current weather conditions during a battle when choosing what to do, but it doesn't specify whether that means in-game weather or real-life weather.

Or are people just excited about not having to deal with "Rain continues to fall" and all of that anymore? :lol

Basically, exactly that.

It's not a huge deal to me personally, I'm just sick of people complaining about it. :lol

So are you guys expecting anything of significance at E3? I can't remember how much Gen 4 and 3 stuff were shown at E3 in their respective years

I'm expecting what's been shown so far, and English names.

Pokemon usually isn't at E3 because they're not announced for America in time. But this time... they are. I remember D/P being at E3 but only because they were announced way ahead of time to gear up hype for the DS.

Naw, I expected coro-coro scan and it already revealed.

If your referring to me I get all the fan art I post from Deviant Art.

Mainly because, for Pokemon fan art, the fans over there seem to be much more creative, talented and diverse as a whole given the other popular option "Pixiv". Pixiv doesn't do it for me . . . the only one I can find a decent amount of fan art for over there among the new 7 Pokemon is Chiramii because its already cute so it goes with their "cutification" agenda very well :/

NEW FAN ART!

Im really starting to think HMs are gone. I mean things point out to this being a more comfortable game to play, still having the archaic HMs that they should have changed after gen 1 would be damn stupid. Im guessing either they`re gone, or no more unnecesary text "Looks like Bellsprout can cut this stupid tree, use cut ? YES NO are you sure ? YES NO really ? YES NO ok."

But i really hope they give us a fucking lawn mower.
