Ok. This has nothing to do with the link you sent, but I love how Chrome will ask to translate it from Japanese to English. :lolAad said:
Oh com'n now, even Nintendo's not crazy enough to start Pokemon gen5 on the stopgag system that they themselves just made obsolete.ColtraineGF said:At this point, it's looking to be for the DSi or 3DS. But which one???

It says that it's the newest Pokémon game for Nintendo DS. Is it ambiguous?Jet Grind Radio! said:Ok. This has nothing to do with the link you sent, but I love how Chrome will ask to translate it from Japanese to English. :lol

None of those examples involve a successor system following closely after the start of a new Pokemon generation.Somnid said:Ugh, this thread. It's announced for DS, get that through your head and stop trying to second guess an official press release. If you really think it would be odd perhaps you've missed the fact that nearly every hardware iteration is preceeded by a Pokemon game and rarely followed:
Pokemon Red/Green/Blue: Gameboy Pocket releases 5 months later
Pokemon Yellow: Gameboy Color releases 1 month later
Pokemon Crystal: Gameboy Advance releases 3 months later
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire: Gameboy Advance SP releases 3 months later
Pokemon Emerald: DS releases 3 months later
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: DS Lite releases 6 months later
Pokemon Platinum: DSi releases 2 months later
Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul silver: DSi XL releases 2 months later.
You guys are really bad at looking at your "evidence." The best you can hope for is DSi/3DS enhanced.
Wasn't there a flowchart on the Japanese site showing all the mainline games (without remakes) leading directly to this new title?grandjedi6 said:None of those examples involve a successor system following closely after the start of a new Pokemon generation.
Is the speculation of the new Pokemon game being on the 3DS unsubstantiated? Yes. Is the speculation impossible or even implausible? No. Indeed, the idea that this new game will even be a mainline game is itself unsubstantiated speculation.

Um, no? The overworld is far different from RSE to DP.upandaway said:I am really confused at some of you guys' definitions for 'new'.
Engine? Come on. You walk in 4 directions. What is there to change about the engine? Pokemon is a time sink. The changes will be in the features, not in the base mechanics.
And even if they "change" the engine, so what? You will not notice anything. The engine changed between GSC and RSE, and the most we got out of it was the running shoes.

I wish that more could have been done with the Villa in Platinum. Instead, it was just a nice money sink (along with the million dollar Ribbon).Gravijah said:I'd prefer a customizable house (which can be visited by other players still) myself.

Well, you will notice some stuff. The framerate in Diamond and Silver was strangely low...I'd like that to be fixed.upandaway said:I am really confused at some of you guys' definitions for 'new'.

Well, it was running at 30fps, like most 3D-using DS games, in contrast to the GBA games, which ran in delicious 60fps, as did most 2D GBA games. That's probably what you noticed.Y2Kev said:Well, you will notice some stuff. The framerate in Diamond and Silver was strangely low...I'd like that to be fixed.

As an extra option, sure. But as the only method? God no.FreedomFrisbee said:My dream: completely touch screen interface. Walk around Phantom Hourglass style, then transition to selecting attacks with stylus! Would make everything much more seamless.
Maybe? Iunno. Engine gets thrown around a lot, but my point of susbstancial changes between Gens still stand.upandaway said:Just so we're clear, you do know what an engine is, right?
