He's pretty generic in design, as well as Dragonite.

Seriously, wtf is so special about Dragonite? He looks like Barney with wings. From awesome Dratini to super awesome Dragonair... then wtf Dragonite?!
I agree wholeheartedly. Something similar to Milotic was what I originally thought Dragonair might evolve into. Then it was like WTF? Generic dragon? Boo!!!

...btw, that's a really good fake...too early, though.
In terms of stats Garchomp is awesome but no when it comes to design. A land-shark-jet... ew. But everything else is fine. I'd put Garchomp behind Dragonite and Metagross but before Salamence.

edit: And I love Garchomp in my team (until it became tournament-banned) so I have no bias against it.

I like the look of that grass....thing. What animal is that supposed to be based on? The rest seems pretty forgettable though. I don't know what the hell is wrong with that dolphin looking thing.

A fire/bug would be interesting like that, I suppose. Looks like someone found that "fire ant" idea that was mentioned in here a few pages back.

edit: So what would be gaf's opinion on a fire ant Pokemon? Would its advantage against Earthquake outweight Stealth Rock?
I'm thinking that Stealth Rock is going to get nerfed, somehow.

Also, what advantage against Earthquake? Its ability will be Blaze.

If they only make Stealth Rock have a max damage of 25% then all should be good. At least Yanmega will somehow still be usable.

Bug is resistant to ground. It would still do normal damage but earthquake would do more damage to a pure fire type than with a bug/fire type.

What is GAFs opinion on removing moves? Like just completely deleting the move off of Pokemon brought into BW and not having it in game? For stuff like Stealth Rock.
As long as it comes with an entire makeover of the franchise I'd be find with that.

I'm Ok with that or just fixing the moves after they have realized that they have made a big mistake.

They need to focus on making more types seem appealing . . . theres like HOW many strong bug attacks? 1 or 2? >_>

Hmm...I would rather see a move tweaked rather than removed. Or, add other moves to counteract, maybe.

I personally would be fine with it, but I think the more hardcore segments of the fanbase would throw a hissy fit and I doubt they would ever actually do that.

They'll have to save that for a true series reboot, methinks.

Gosh that fake water starter is ugly as fuck. The other two are pretty good, though. Would love a three-line fire scorpion Pokemon.

Keep it. All you Charizard lovers can suffer for all I care. :P

Hate the idea. Nerfing a move is one thing. Deleting it is one another.

Yeah, I think simply making stealth rock much weaker would suffice. Completely removing it is asking for trouble

Ok, I can't wait for this. I'm like dangerously addicted to Pokemon Platinum at the moment and I need more asap.
I don't really give a shit about starting pokemons, though, my owl guy is only like the 3rd best of my crew.

Make Flying types immune to SR, duh?

They like are suppose to be Flying and shit. Them rocks can't touch me!
But if you throw a rock at a bird and hit him, that bird will be going down pretty fast.

Either way, trying to find logic in the weakness chart in Pokemon gets confusing pretty fast.

Owl?

They should at least make it so Stealth Rock requires 3 layers to be put down before it can do it's maximum amount of damage like Spikes. AS it stands, one layer of Stealth Rock can get 50% damage on some Pokemon whereas Spikes requires 3 layers to even do 25%.

Nerfing a broken move (as Stealth Rock by all accounts, is) by bringing it back down to reasonable levels (layering, turn-limiting, introducing better counters or making existing counters more available etc.) will not completely invalidate a strategy based on it (such as walling whilst setting up entry hazards). Deleting it will.

Besides which, you'd have to explain in-universe why all of a sudden your awesome 4th-gen Stealth Rock user is now missing one of its moves.

Does anyone remember what a horror the move Wrap was in RGBY? If you were fast enough and lucky enough to never have it miss, spamming it could win you entire matches. Same with Hyper Beam. Going from a 30% chance of requiring a recharge turn to 100% meant that facing off against a human trainer didn't turn into an all Hyper Beam all the time party.

Yeah but why are some Magnemite affected by Earthquake? Are they just chilling on the floor?

But what if in deleting it they balance it better than they ever could by nerfing it?

There is such a thing as having too much shit. When all you do is add add add add, you get to a point where you've added too much. Eventually you have to delete to keep it balanced.

THEM'S THE BREAKS.

Then again logic has no value when it comes to emotional attachment.

I completely agree.

I find it so backwards that so much shit with this series gets a pass because "the game is for kids/ has to appeal to kids" yet they are OK with them adding more and more moves and having to keep tweaking them along the way.

It just makes shit more convoluted if they just keep adding stuff. :/

I'm OK with them just clearing house and replacing moves . . .

I agree that there is a point where things get to be too much. However, Stealth Rock's problems are very easily fixed. It's an entry hazard move, like Spikes or Toxic Spikes, but without any of their disadvantages (layering). Paring down its power to those levels balances it out nicely. Hell, even making sure it's only in operation for a maximum of five turns does the job.

Stealth Rock being of an element that's super effective against other types is pretty annoying in how it eliminates certain Pokemon from competition.

I also think they should limit strong/Toxic-level poison to Poison-type Pokemon.

And make Thunder Wave and Confuse Ray have way less accuracy. And have Pokemon wake up from being attacked. And redo all of the held items. And make Poison super effective against Water.

And stuff.
