I should clarify I want all new Pokemon, and just that. I don't want a 450 Pokemon long Pokedex.Mafro said:+1
I love the original 151 Pokemon. A reboot would be great.

You guys act like more variety is a bad thing...no one is forcing you to catch all of them anyway and "Gotta catch em' all!" stopped being the tagline YEARS ago. I feel most of the people complaining about a large number of pokemon have never played the game online against other people...

It's probably the same thing as the other announcement, but it surely does give more confirmation it's a Gen 5 game and not some spin off crap.

Hey, variety is good. Just tell Game Freak that. Also tell Game Freak to stop flooding their regions with Geodude, Zubat and Tentacool jesus christ.

But those five birds have exactly the same typing (Normal/Flying), whereas there are a lot of type combinations that haven't been used at all yet.Zoramon089 said:A small handful out of NEARLY 500 pokemon. And despite what you may thing some of those don't play the same. You'd be stupid to say Pigeot, Fearow, Swellow, Staraptor and Noctowl all played the same just because they're birds...because they're quite different
Haha, I could name more analogues if you'd like. Just thought I'd start with those.Zoramon089 said:A small handful out of NEARLY 500 pokemon.
Of course they don't play exactly the same, but they serve the same purpose overall.And despite what you may thing some of those don't play the same. Zoramon089 said:No they don't. You don't use a Noctowl for the same reason you use the others. It's use is completely different. You're too focused on the types and aren't giving any attention to stats, ability and moves when those are equally as important
They're only important to people who care about the metagame. For everyone else it's rock-paper-scissors and who looks the best.Zoramon089 said:No they don't. I doubt it. Pokemon Sunday usually doesn't reveal anything new, though they were the first ones to hint at the Gold/Silver remakes so who knows.Zilch said:Is this saying that next week's Pokemon Sunday show will reveal information about these new games?

Cliffnotes for the lazy;
-He basically took the original 151 + their 2nd/3rd/4th generation evolutions (i.e. Chansey and Blissey, not just Chansey), took out the crappy, pointless ones (i.e. baby Pokemon, Fartfetch'd).
-Shifted their types around to make things more even and interesting (Koffing is now fire/poison, Electivire gets dark/electric, Dragonite family is pure Dragon).
-Comes out to be around 170 Pokemon, all with new/interesting type advantages, all of which are useful in competitive battling. Stats are also evened out so that some Pokemon aren't extremely overpowered (Mewtwo) or underpowered .

Because in the main game, you aren't encouraged to go much higher than about lv. 50, due to trainers going up to about lv. 50 (60 for E4). It's only post game that you see higher leveled pokes.Arnie said:One thing which has always bothered me is why do evolutions typically stop at around the 36 level, when the levels reach 100? Why not have another stage of evolution around the 60 mark, and extend the game itself to keep you playing after this final evolution.

NO. Level 55 evolutions (Dragonite, Tyranitar) require too much grinding as it is!Arnie said:Can't wait. I do hope it is significantly different to the original formula. Also if there is going to be new information on Feb 7th then that means the Feb issue of CoroCoro will definitely have new info on new Pokemon.
Yes, if they're going to have higher level evolutions they have to provide you with a place to fight enemies where you'll actually gain a decent amount of experience from them.Sixfortyfive said:NO. Level 55 evolutions (Dragonite, Tyranitar) require too much grinding as it is!
NeonZ said:It's a pointless wish, and probably would just create more problems, both for gameplay design and character design, but I'd like to see 4th evolutions for the starter pokemon that basically turned it into a legendary pokemon.
They could be limited to the post game, connected to some quest, to make them feel special. Although I know it'll never happen because most people wouldn't want new evolutions for old Pokemons, especially because they could look just worse than the originals.
