THIS! This was huge! It really made 4th gen for me. I can't believe people are saying the games are exactly the same :lol



All these huge changes too, fuck the haters! Each gen has had significant upgrades.

Exactly! But now people (there exists a fanbase outside of GaF you know) are saying what else can gamefreak do? If the game is released and is just DP/Pt with better graphics and new pokemon/new land then to me that would be unnacceptable. Each pokemon game has had upgrades (mechanics wise) that has made going back to prev gens hard (at least to me). Mr Pokemon (the guys whose name starts with an M) has said that the games will take on a more action oriented battle system (NP review) so i'm hoping to see the fruits of his statements in gen 5.

Edit: And just to add one more thing. Notice that the number of real additions and changes to the games have slowly been decreasing....shake shit up GameFreak!

I think the biggest mechanics change happened between Gen 1 to Gen 2 right? Then I guess the 4th Gen had a big change when it came to the physical/special split.

For the 5th Gen, I really think they gonna revamp the breeding system. I feel it's really outdated and just makes it harder for us. If you see GameFreak does acknowledge that we mass breed which is why beside every daycare center we have a long road to go up and down for breeding. They can probably take it to the next step and just make the whole process faster.

As for gameplay changes, let's see if they gonna go with their talk about more action oriented. Unless of course they were talking about that Wii game they released long time ago.

Would be nice...the show's version of Kanto trainer battle is nice too. I still feel Mewtwo should've had it's Pokemon Stadium Boss Battle theme as its battle theme in Heart Gold/ Soul Silver. Sucks that piece of music was only used once and so long ago.

Okay, maybe that´s just me, but significant in my book is:

RE3 -> RE4
Alttp -> OoT
FF -> ME

And so on.
There ARE changes, but to 95% of all Pokemon-players it is NOT significant.

98% of people online pull stats out their asses. >_>

I know tons of people who keep up with the games and see these changes as being big . . . don't know where the fck your thoughts on BIG changes come from. They don't have to completely change the way you play (making it over-the-shoulder or going from 2D to 3D) for it to be a big change.

Already mentioned, but Pokemon Sunday teased a big announcement for next week. In the lower left corner, it says there's urgent information from Masuda (who's in charge of Game Freak). The top left corner also says the same.

The other panels seem to talk about the new movie.

I'm pretty sure that if Masuda is going to be on the show then information will be revealed about the game. He's got nothing to do with the new movie/new pokemon reveals.

Edit: I've now settled on what i actually expect from these new games: dynamic sprites. They don't to be as detailed as I described a few pages back but the DS is more powerful (if marginally) than the 64.

Why can't my dragonite open its mouth to perform hyperbeam? Is it really that hard? I wish i was more programmer savvy and all that...

Fire/Dragon would break any sense of balance Charizard has. He's already overpowered.

Stealth Rock can be Rapid Spin'd away. Besides, a monster with access to both Swords Dance and Belly Drum coming off its amazing Speed and Attack stats needed some neutering, just like the old "FEAR MY ALMIGHTY WRATH" Alakazam of the RBY days.

I think this is the problem. Stealth Rock overcentralizes the metagame. Back in the day, rapid spin was more of a choice but now you NEED a rapid spinner. Kinda like Scizor or Garchomp (before OU ban). You NEED to have a counter for these guys or you're pretty much screwed. I can understand tiers (think street fighter) but goddamn.

I'm not tech savvy but even if artists make the sprites, don't programmers program what they come up with into the game itself? Or are there such things a programming artists?

Whatever the case, i'm still expecting more dynamic sprites and i'm expecting to be disappointed. At the very least i would like an appearance animation, a standby animation, a hurt animation, and a K.O. animation. It can probably be done but to do this for 600 pokes is time consuming and game freak is probably a small team.

Still (i'm still thinking), what i'm expecting is probably feasible at least on a technical level. Games like Mario and Luigi SS and Golden sun had tons of in battle sprites that were dynamic and these games came out on the GBA.

Charizard overpowered? Charizard is a gimmick pokemon in competitive battle. He can work with luck, but saying that he is overpowered in todays metagame is pretty laughable.

Oh and whatever scan/news you see on some youtube channel with a name similar to giancarlo11 (something like that) is also fake.

CoroCoro comes every month around the 15th so the leaks will usually come out couple of days before max. Anything before that is 100% fake.

And if you actually look at the screenshot in the scan it looks exactly like D/P. If this game is just more pokemon with gen IV just slapped on them i will finally be done with pokemon...and i don' t want to be. I'm really expecting them to tinker with the battle system somewhat. The Farfectch'd evolution looks badass though.

Also, I found the fake scan with the Farfetch'd and Delibird evo, the former = awesome, the latter = ugh.
