Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I agree. Plusle and Minun are terrible pokemon. They were made purely to show off the possibilities of the double battle mechanic, but they're next to useless on their own and neither does a very good job of covering the other's weaknesses. Not to mention that their design is derivative and they're more or less forgettable (i.e. they're Gen 3's pika-clone).

When Pachirisu came out I was like ^_^. I then used him until I realised that he's a pika-clone and doesn't evolve into anything useful.

Eh, they're trying too hard. But yeah, all of those Pokemon need evolutions. I could do without any babies though.
Its cool to have little cup battles.

Balb thought the evolutions were real, let it be known!

Stealth Rock can be Rapid Spin'd away. Besides, a monster with access to both Swords Dance and Belly Drum coming off its amazing Speed and Attack stats needed some neutering, just like the old "FEAR MY ALMIGHTY WRATH" Alakazam of the RBY days.

In gen four, Charizard's typing is absolutely brutal due to the strength of Rock-type moves. Rock-type moves are very common since few Pokemon resist it or don't have the defense to backup the type resistance. It's only takes a couple of Stealth Rock hits to take it down, which a Ghost-type can delay. It's not so much there are common counters to Charizard so much as that countering Pokemon don't have to specialize against Charizard. Pokemon such as Milotic, can not only neutralize most Charizard sets but also effectively counter many other Pokemon.

The main issue with stealth rock is that there is only one (in my opinion) viable rapid spinner in competitive play (Forretress). They either need to nerf stealth rock (recommended) or add more rapid spinners.

Or add Rapid Spin alternatives.

But yeah, I do think that Charizard was overpowered in Gen 3. Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to give that thing access to Earthquake?

If there isn't a way to quickly transfer all of my pokemon into this game at one time, I'm not buying. It took me months to get all my pokemon from my GBA cartridges over to D/P/P, and I'm not going through that Pal Park hell again. Never. Again.

If you can get your hands on another DS, you can use your DPP cart to transfer your Pokemon to your HG/SS relatively painlessly?

No you can't. You would need to trade over each and ever Pokemon to "transfer" them over. Seems pretty painful to me.

I wouldn't say painlessly. If you had 150 pokemon to trade to the new game, first of all you would have to have 150 filler pokemon to trade in the new version. Second of all, you'd only be able to trade 6 pokemon at once before having to get out of the trade menu and withdraw 6 more pokemon from the PC. Then you go to the receptionist, wait for it to save a lot of data (which is like 20-30 seconds), then repeat the process over and over again.

Painless relative to Pal Park, I assume.

both methods are tedious. period.

If I could just drag and drop all my pokemon from my DPP cartridge to the new cartridge via 2 DS's, that would be ideal. And from a developing standpoint, this added feature is easier done than said. Seriously it just seems practical. But then again this is Nintendo, the same developer that makes us travel hundreds of miles to a Toys R Us that hasn't closed down to get rare pokemon instead of utilizing the Wi-Fi

Agreed. Wholeheartedly.

That has to be the most legit looking fake I've ever seen. Granted, I can't read Japanese, but the art work and then the screen shot, the way everything is laid out on the page... Great effort!

The screenshot on that "scan" is so clearly from D/P/Pt. Doesn't seem like that great of an effort to me. Though I'm not gonna lie, I don't totally hate the designs.

Seriously though, I'm going to be beyond pissed if the majority of new pokemon we get are just more evolutions or babies (unless they introduce 4th evolutions which would be fucking awesome). Baby pokemon are just pointless shitty filler material

Agreed. I do love evolutions of old pokemon though. It makes the new ones useful (I loved my Togekiss annoyer in my Pearl party).

I wish there was a legit leak. This is killing me.

I'm fine with a few evos of older pokemon, but in D/P it seems like there were just way too many. I want as many brand new pokemon as possible dammit!

And yeah, the wait for info is killing me too. But at the same time its awesome, because new gen pokemon info is always better than Christmas :lol

I really can not wait to see what they come up with, especially to take advantage of DSi and perhaps Wii interactivity.

I can't wait for sunday. News of generation V can't come soon enough. I know, considering we still haven't gotten a hold of HG/SS yet it seems silly, but I can't get enough of pokemon games. They're the only games that can consistently keep me interested for hundreds of hours

Tomorrow could be the big day!

CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKERS, THE HYPE TRAIN IS LEAVING THE STATION

EDIT: Serebii: "Tomorrow, we're likely to get some big news"

haha Farfetch'd needs an evolution

and so does flareon, because he is the worst eevee-lution ever

No, what Flareon needs are some decent moves to go with its impressive attack stat. Flare Drive would be enough to make it a very viable option on Baton Pass teams.

I can't wait for a new generation. I never really got into DPP, I just played through Diamond once when it came out. I'll probably do the same with this. I hope they change things up. I feel like they will, because they already have 5 games for the DS, so they'll take their chances with this one.

The need to fix/make the Kangaskhan family.

Kangaskid ==(Level 20, if Male)==> Kangasking
Kangaskid ==(Level 20, if Female)==> Kangaskhan

Or something like that.

More branching evolutions too. Expand on what you got.

What about a "Parastone" that evolves from a Paras in a certain cave, or if you have a Golem in your party?

How about a "Cyllapead" who is the pure bug counterpart to Butterfree? Maybe if you hold Caterpie from evolving into a Metapod, he'll evolve into this at level 10? Or a stone/move/area type evolution instead.

New trees are interesting and all, but I'd like to see the branching out of older ones.

And maybe, even take advantage of having so many "types" of Pokemon trainers. Yea, the trainers. Maybe you can become a "PKMN Breeder" by passing the test of breeding several different pokemon with certain movesets. I.e, show Breeder Exam Person a Machop that knows Bullet Punch, and being smart y'know that you need to breed one with a Hitmonchan as the father. The reward for becoming a breeder is that eggs hatch faster or something. And maybe you get Pokemaniac/nerd status by catching X amount. It might make finding shinies slightly more common. Rich Kid status for hoarding X amount of cash, and from then on you get a slight discount at shops or something. School Boy status for actually reading all of the notebooks in that darn school which seems to be in every game. Maybe the reward is a type chart you can access in game. Maybe you could only apply one of these "types" at a time or something.

I decided to download and test out KeyholeTV on the offchance that I'll get to watch Pokemon Sunday live tomorrow night. Really nifty program, I think Saturday morning cartoons are on right now.

I think i'll give that a shot too.

EDIT: What channel again?

TV Tokyo.

I'm not sure when Pokemon Sunday airs, but survivor says 6:30pm EST (8:30am in Japan) which sounds reasonable...

KeyHoleTV.png

That's the channel for first time users.

The thing that used to piss me off about it during the HG/SS news was that always near the game segment, the stream would start lagging really badly. It would make the whole thing unplayable.

EDIT: The show begins 7:30 AM in Japan. I think there was a 13 hours difference.Could be 12 hours I don't remember exactly.
