Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I doubt that thing's an evolution of Lucario. For comparison:

?

Missing the spikes, and the fur is all wrong.

Why would I assume based on the single question mark in the circular picture that this is going to be a new set of games rather than a remake ala platinum or crystal?

After looking at a whole bunch of stuff about early versions of Gens I-IV, I can say that I have no interest in Pokemon anymore. At least when it comes to the character designs. That being said, I really really hope Gen V is a new beginning.

Because it features brand new Pokemon in a Whole New world/ land?

And that there's no precedent for remaking the third game of a previous generation. And that there's no precedent for a fourth main-series game in a generation.

It's funny to me that people have a hard time believing the new game(s) will be Gen 5, and go on to make the most unplausable theories about what it might actually be. :lol

What would anyone gain by this being a DSi exclusive?

Force people to buy a DSi, keep people from importing/pirating, make me buy ANOTHER DSi, I should have imported in the first place, but I wasn't thinking that it would come to be an issue buying an American DSi.

Doesnt the DSi have a better CPU or something?

Yes, but that wouldn't be the reason, it's not like the current gen is anywhere near tapping the potential of the original DS's hardware. Their reasoning would be completely financial if they change platform to DSi.

Arceus destroys the whole world and starts again from scratch.
Shin Arceus Tensei?

Cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic adventure where you must decide if man should conquer all or if the world should be returned to a more natural, Pokemon-dominate state?

I don't like my Pokemans emo.

People keep saying this, but is there any evidence that any future DS games will take advantage of the "better" hardware? Besides, Pokemon isn't a series that has ever pushed hardware.

I suppose the reasoning for thinking the game could be DSi-exclusive is that it's a huge franchise that will effectively "force" people to buy DSis, but I really don't see it happening.

I still hope it will end up being a DS2 launch title. :D

I know what you're saying, but its funny you phrased it this way because I am the proud owner of pikachu minis, gameboy to N64 adapters, infrared sharing doohickey, and soon to be proud owner of a pokewalker. If that's not pushing hardware on us, I don't know what is.

Ha, that's true. I meant pushing the limits of technology, but you're right that Nintendo has pushed a lot of peripherals on their faithful fanbase. :lol

I'm restarting my interest on the franchise playing Platinum (two years ago I played Diamond) and DAMN, I can't put down the damn thing. Good times :)

By the way, is there any thread in particular to arrange Pokemon trades? I'm looking for a Ditto and a Charmander for breeding, but I don't have any pokemon in particular that could made a good trade... Now, if there's a good Samaritan out there that could help a fellow Gaffer, it would be awesome :D

Serebii has posted some pictures that he is calling rumours for now so you can go have a look there.

I'm hoping it's real.. mainly because I like the pre-evo, and am kinda ambivalent about the trend of "humanlike" Pokemon, so it'd be nice to see something more animal-like come out of this reveal.

Hey, that doesn't look bad. I'm a little glad it's not just an evolution of an existing Pokemon, I think recent generations have had way too many of those.

I like it!
If it's real, then kudos to Ravidrath for correctly making the kitsune connection. :D The "Evil Fox Pokémon" description fits with the animal's shapeshifting abilities in Japanese myth, which likewise seems to play into the story of the film with Ash's doppelganger, Z.

I would say the original Pokemon games pushed the hardware quite a bit. The world was at least as big and complicated as, say, Link's Awakening. I would not be surprised to find out 4G also use the original DS's hardware to the max - though it's not obviously 3D, it does have a lot of visual tomfoolery going on.

It would be pretty awesome if this new Pokemon was one of the starters. The pre-evolution kinda looks like a little starter 'mon, and having a different set of types for them would be pretty interesting.

Kinda weird they show off the pre-evolution at the same time as the evolution. Normally they show only one or the other and let fans cook up madcap theories on its relation to other Pokémon (or if it's a legendary, a la Lucario's situation.)

It's pretty cool though if it's real though, I like the colour scheme. I don't immediately hate it like I did with most of the Pokémon unveiling events of the past (which I later on end up adoring, as the compulsive monster-catching whore inside me tends to do. ;_; )
