I think they should change it up and start like Yellow: you don't chose from three starters, your beginning pokemon is chosen by personallity test like in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. when it determines your personality, it gives you an egg that hatches.
 
Going back to the "Pokémon Fusion" thing, I think something like that could work. Maybe in a certain area, certain Pokémon react with the Elemental stones in different ways. For example, what if in this cave, a Fire Stone is used on Hitmonchan, and he becomes Hitmonchar, or some such. Then he gains a second type, Fire.

Not quite the same thing, but a few Pokemon have location-specific evolutions already. Glaceon and Leafeon evolve by leveling them in specific snow routes and forest routes, respectively.
 
Peaople are forgetting that certain pokemon already sort fuse but the other pokemon is not really in your party for slowpoke and you need a remoraid to get Manitine. If they want to do 2 or 3 more its cool what cant happen is that all can fuse.The fusion has to be intresting .

Why even bother making Slowking a branched evolution? Why not just tack it on as the third part of the Slowpoke line?

Why did Red step down and go off the grid for three years? That's been bugging me for a while. I wish there was more backstory on Red's disappearance and such, seeing as he's the most badass character in the series.

I think the manga explains it but I forgot the details.
Don't know if you're the type that thinks of what's canon or not and all that, but really, it's good enough.
 
Just get another set of decent starters, unlike gen 3 where all the starters were awful. Also they gotta make poison type moves stronger, Nidoking is my favorite pokemon but there are no great poison types moves.
 
I wouldn't mind if they do a "Mysterious Dungeon" and gave you a starter Pokemon based on the answers to some questions..or maybe just a hcoice.

It would be cool if they made one game on which at the start you're given a "experienced trainer" option and let you choose at least 1 starter Pokemon and just proceed to get the experience/badges and avoid the usual "Welcome to the Pokemon world..are you a boy or a girl?..here's how to catch a Pokemon"..deal in all games.

Again, an option..not that the eliminate it.. :p

Yeah, I'm the person who thinks manga Red, Ash, and game Red are all different people.

In the manga, Bruno challenges Red but Lorelei freezes him into an ice sculpture while he and Bruno are fighting.

I think Slowking is a separate evolution because it is an offensive version of Slowbro, so that you can choose what you want when you evolve your Slowpoke. Almost all evolutions are improvements (The only exceptions being to do with things like abilities or types) so if they were to put Slowking after Slowbro, they would end up jacking up his stats and making Slowbro useless.

I was under the impression that Red didn't want to just stay and be the champion. All he wanted out of the Pokemon League was to beat the champion and be the best, he didn't want to just stick around the Indigo Plateau and battle weak trainers again and again. He is probably in Mt. Silver so he can keep training.

If they want to add new types, I would hope that it comes with a retool of the types in general, maybe even remove a few and shuffle things around a bit. Just adding more and more types makes the game feel bloated rather than balanced, and I don't think it helps the argument a little earlier about keeping things simple for the new players. Then again, this is coming from the person that said way earlier in the thread that I'd prefer a total reboot with all or almost all new pokemon instead of just continuing to expand.

In terms of more realistic game tweaks, I don't mind that they have stuff like IVs, but I wish if they're going to continue that route that they just finally give in to it and include some sort of tools within the game to more easily keep track of EVs and IVs. I remember having sheets and post-it notes filled with numbers and battle-counts trying to be sure I don't make any missteps in training, and I think to that extent it's just become needlessly obscure. Would anybody really object to making it a little easier for folks to raise a high-caliber team?

It's kinda sad that the project didn't go much. They were only able to reach Beta 4 and only made 6 (7 if you count Ditto) characters.

To be fair, is not like for that fan game they animated all nearly 500 Pokemon (about twice if you count female versions)..aside the rest of the game.

...for a 3D game it may be easier though...Battle Revolution looked great.

I believe the only difference between Slowbro and Slowking is that their def and sp def stats are swapped.

To be fair, Pokemon has more return from investments than 99.99% of game franchises and more than enough money to make it happen themselves.

Or at least fix that awful Graveler back sprite. gross.

Oh, and I really don't think they would have to make an entirely separate thing for alternating genders lol.
 
Reduce EV grinding.
Make Hidden Power easier to control the type and damage. This move is only useful for things like Netbattle.
Change the stats of some of the Pokemon to make them better.
 
They NEED a Pokemon Box kind of thing. Like I understand the philosophy of making kids interact with each other to trade and stuff but, with Wi-Fi, isn't that already out the window anyway? Besides, if I'm willing to pay for a method of transfer, why not? More money for them.

Speaking of slowpoke...why the hell is the thing that bites his tail not actually a pokemon? It's been around since the beginning and it would have made a much more logical remoraid/mantine type relationship. They could have changed it so that slowpoke only evolves when that pointy/seashell pokemon (that doesn't really exist) is in the party with slowpoke.

It's more of a "mutated" or "deformed" Shellder than an evolution or any real separate Pokemon.

Oh, and I made up the name for it WAY back; Spikeder.

Or Pinhead.
 
I just hope that the next game goes back ton the RSE type metagame. I miss being able to make crazy setups like an azumarril with rollout, defense curl, light screen, and reflect

Another fixable problem is IVs and Hidden Power. They serve no purpose other than to force me to catch even more duplicates until I get just the right stats I need.

The kids are content with My Pokemon Ranch despite it being basically half-broken (the only person who can withdraw is the person who deposited making transfer between games impossible) and functionally poor compared to Pokemon Box (which in turn was functionally poor compared to Pokemon Stadium but makes up for it with much more space).

Since this is turning into the Pokemon gen 5 ideas thread I'd say basically what I said before; make EVs more visible*, maybe axe IVs completely (natures is enough random stats for re-roll for without having to resort to RNG abuse for IVs as well...), find a solution to the UU Pokemon which isn't give a select few an evolution (its that and Baby Pokemon which are bloating the Pokedex...it doesn't help the results looked pretty bad in my eyes)

*-I know the reason they're not is to avoid scaring the kids away with all the complexities.

Agreed, it shouldn't be many times harder this gen to transfer your pokemon from one cart to another and to search and sort your pokemon by various attributes than it was last gen.

Well in the anime it sort of "evolves" into that form when it bites Slowpoke. If we're going into alternate evolutions for the next Pokemon it would be pretty interesting if you could evolve your Shellder into Shellder 2 if you had both a Shellder and a Slowbro in your team at the same time. I guess it would be an alternate to Cloyster (with a high attack stat rather than Cloyster's high defense).
 
The PC needs to be a lot more streamlined generally. Can't believe what a pallaver it still is to say, put Pokemon in and out of the Day Care.

Anyway I think the Slowbro thing is something they should maybe consider and normalize. Perhaps in Gen 5 make it so that to evolve it requires a Shellder on your team that permanently fuses to it. That and stop counting Nidoran&#9792;/&#9794; as separate Pokemon. Sure it'd fuck up some past things but I think rethinking some of this and making it more interesting for veteran players to rediscover would revitalize things.

The fan game had to end because they had years of work ahead of them they could never realistically finish.
