Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

If that was the actual Gen V line-up, I think I'd really like that. Aside from the stupid Regis of course.

I wouldn't. The person added way to many pre-evos and evolutions of other Pokemon. I hope the newest gen doesn't do this, It's like a cop out.

I guess there's too many babies. I always welcome evolutions though (God knows why s/he thought Skarmory needed expanding on though :lol)

There are some really good designs on that sprite sheet (Squidart > Tentacool, and Bulson looks like a really cool Tauros alternative), but some are utter shit.

Also, why can't anyone fathom the concept of a three-line fire ant Pokemon? I always wanted this so we can get both an awesome ant Pokemon and a Fire/Bug type.

I only have two Type effectiveness related changes to suggest:

1. Poison should be super effective against Water.

2. Make Rock type attacks neutral against Fire.

Yeah I also like the squid one and the electric/flying dinosaur thing.

And yeah, Skarmory doesn't need an evolution. It would be way over powered if it got one.

I still don't understand the point of baby Pokemon. Only a small fraction of them actually give moves that are useful on their fully evolved forms. Most of them just serve as padding for the Pokedex.

They're for the anime.

Because Pokemon is about significantly more than battling. The people who are EV grinding and hatching hundreds of eggs for the right IV and nature combinations are few and far between.

I don't see why the game wouldn't support the Pokewalker, they could just copy the system over from HG/SS because it works just fine the way it is.

Also, does B&W coming out in under a year in Japan mean we won't see the combo version of HG/SS?

A male Combee evolution? Talk about missing the point.

Little Cup!

I generally would rather see new species as well, though.

I knew you'd say that, I was just about to mention it too.

I tried it back for a little bit without many EV considerations (how the hell are you supposed to do that), and it was super fun. I might actually battle that way exclusively. It also completely makes up for any baby Pokemon (that I never hated in the first place because I usually love their designs).

I suppose there isn't any Battle Frontier facility about Little Cup? Would be so awesome, and it's not like there's "too hard" for the Frontier.

Edit: There isn't a single Pokemon in that Pokedex that is above "horrible", and that fact is further emphasized when he put actual Pokemon side by side inside there. You guys have seriously lost your mind.

1) I understand how they would not include it just based on the cost of installing the infrared sensor in the cartridge itself and the more unique somewhat translucent plastic casing. Seems like a gimmick to drum up interest in a remake (I still love the pokewalker).

2) I also wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Crystal version after the release of Black and White which makes me believe that perhaps B&W wouldn't be totally compatible with HGSS (think the rotom tranformations that were added to Platinum but unavailable in DP)

It's kind of ridiculous compared to normal EVing. First, you have to make sure that you don't get too much EXP in the process and go beyond level 5. This can be done through the use of vitamins, Pokerus, Power Items, fighting only very low leveled Pokemon, and using multiple EXP shares (forcing the rest of your party to siphon away as much EXP as possible). Fairly easy, but tedious.

What makes it silly though is that 4 EVs do not correlate to 1 extra stat point at level 5. Depending on base stats, sometimes you only need 4 EVs to get an extra point, while other times you need 80. This leads to hilariously specific EV spreads with the points distributed across 4+ different stats in all kinds of obtuse ways.

Oh yeah. I can totally see Crystal happening at this point, especially if Gen 5 is a big departure.

Yeah holy shit. Did you try it out yet?

I made a Little Cup team for PBR because one of the stadiums in that game requires it. Didn't really put any of my own thought into it though. I more or less copied an example team from Smogon with only minimal moveset changes.

But I did battle Jos with this team yesterday. They were autoleveled to 100 for the fight, though. Video ID is 14-97385-68592.

I really like the fake list, though 270 Pokemon is way more than GF would every give us.

*edit* I am also a fan of pre/post evolutions to existing Pokemon.

I never got why there aren't any pure flying types? It's not that a pure flying type would be overpowered, so it must be some technical thing, right?

Probably because GF always saw Flying as a sub-type to be attached to the Pokemon if it had wings. Or something dumb like that.

Probably because of something like that, but possibly also because of Roost. Roost temporarily eliminates the user's Flying type and the associated weaknesses/resistances for it.

I think someone hacked Roost onto a Flying Arceus to see what it did and it caused Arceus to lose all typing and therefore take neutral damage from everything.

Well that's not game-breaking, there could still be a pure Flying type.

Wasn't that added 4th gen anyway? I don't think it's related.

I never got why Gyarados was a flying type.
Doesn't make any sense to me.
Because if Gyarados was Water/Dragon in Gen 1 where it was introduced, then it would only be weak to Dragon type attacks and the only Gen 1 Dragon attack was a fixed damage move.

We probably won't get an update. What we're expecting is getting bigger and complete scans from CoroCoro...aka a full page of all the cam pics we've been seeing. I dunno, maybe this'll opt some Sugimori art and details to be posted on the official site.

I'm not holding my breath for anything other than clear high res shots of the pics already in coro coro. I'm guessing we may have to wait till next month to get anything good :/

Hope I'm proved wrong though!

While some diehard series fans were quick to show their dismay that the new games aren't coming out on the Nintendo 3DS first, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White is still looking like a pretty decent update for the million-selling series. That's the take-home we got, at least, from a set of screenshots published in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine.
Among the things hinted at in the screens is a brand-new cityscape setting, with your trainer traveling on elevated paths (an extension of cycling roads, perhaps?) and weaving his way through tall buildings. Also depicted is a new one-stop Pokemon shop that combines the facilities of a PokeMart, Pokemon Center and Global Terminal into a single building -- the Pokemon equivalent of a Walmart Supercenter, you could say.

The setting isn't the only new thing, either. In addition to the usual sort of visual upgrades, Pokemon Black/White will feature a battle system that, if initial impressions are worth anything, will be quite a bit more dynamically depicted than before, with the battle camera switching viewpoints depending on the action and the fighters even casting realistic shadows on the ground. (The Pokemon are still 2D sprites, though, so don't expect some kind of massive Pokemon Colosseum-style graphic upgrade.)

"As you can tell from the screenshots, Pokemon Black/White's adventure takes place in an area different in nature from before," a Pokemon Company rep told Famitsu. "The new story that unfolds in this place, along with the never-seen-before Pokemon you'll encounter, will allow both old fans and people who haven't played the other games to enjoy the experience without preconceptions."

The new games have a tentative fall release date in Japan and will presumably hit American DSes sometime soon afterward.
