You can see the city map in this pic.
Looks like you can walk "up" deeper into the city, hopefully the camera's good enough for that, but if it is... hype+++

Starting with Diamond and Pearl, they completely changed how attack and special attack are assigned to moves. Attack now applies to all attacks that are physical in nature, and special attack applies to long range/magical attacks. That was a pretty big change. Plus there was the addition of natures and abilities in Generation 3.RoboPlato said:I kind of grew out of Pokemon after G/S came out and after I got over that the biggest concern that I've heard is that they haven't done much new. Most of them have been remakes since then too. I might as well wait for the next real generation to see if they add some new ingredients to the formula.

Guess Filb should have video up soon.

Hey, if this takes place back in time, maybe we'll run into an older Team that Giovanni was just a scrub at!

Doesn't necessarily mean anything...

Not many noteworthy ones, though.
Well the dude specifically said he was going to move back to his own country and reform Team Rocket.Andrex said:Doesn't necessarily mean anything...
Yep, I was horribly misinformed. I guess I should go play some Pokemon again before ignorantly posting in here again. :lolAndrex said:Ah right. Though we could go on all night about the additions since G/S.
Well, the quest really hasn't changed much. Collect 8 badges, defeat Team _____, become the champion, collect them all. Same thing with a new coat of paint.RoboPlato said:Yep, I was horribly misinformed. I guess I should go play some Pokemon again before ignorantly posting in here again. :lol

Well, there's a map of the city in that screenshot. Looks like all of the paths branching out are nothing but docks, and you can't go full circle around the city. I doubt it's a central hub unless you have to take a boat to every region.ivysaur12 said::O
I wonder if this city is some sort of hub?
Also, is that Pikachu on the TV on top of that building?

But if this game takes place back in his country, are all the NPCs going to have that godawful accent? D:

Filb has a bigger, clearer video up now.
I know that musical style from one of the games...can't be sure yet. To YouTube!
Zilch said:Load screens like every Pokemon has? Or something different?
Probably no more than N64 games had when you traveled between areas.ILikeFeet said:hmm, the road going into the city looks dark. could there be load screens?
Sure it is. Generation 4 used those annoying stations you had to walk through when moving from the main map to a major city. This is just loading different maps within the same city, which is no big deal as long as the loads are no more than the load time when entering a building.Zilch said:Right, that's what we're talking about.
That sort of loading/warping is not commonplace in Pokemon games.
MNC said:Wasn't HGSS technically a 'remake' taking place in the same locations but with different characters and later in the timeline than GS? I can't remember any team rocketeers saying they were disbanded 3 years ago or something.
The story is the same.MNC said:Wasn't HGSS technically a 'remake' taking place in the same locations but with different characters and later in the timeline than GS? I can't remember any team rocketeers saying they were disbanded 3 years ago or something.
Even though the story is essentially the same, I think it's a retcon type of remake, like FRLG were. That's how the game can be tied in to Sinnoh in a few places and can justify adding new areas throughout, like FRLG did relative to RSE and GSC (Sevii Islands).MNC said:Wasn't HGSS technically a 'remake' taking place in the same locations but with different characters and later in the timeline than GS? Alright. It's been an awful long time since playing Gold.Gravijah said:GSC/HGSS are both 3 years after RBY/FRLG, and even the original GSC mentions multiple times that it's 3 years after RBY.
Yeah, and it says the same in the remake. I don't see how that's relevant at all to the Pokemon "lore." All of the events happen exactly the same way as they do before, only with some additions.Zoramon089 said:What are you talking about? survivor said:Just watched the video Filb put up to see the walking video. I really dislike how the trainers are really small and look terrible. I thought at first it was just my stream, but with the high quality video, they still look terrible.
Anyway, it seems odd to me that some buildings are just black while the others seem normal. Maybe it's there to distinguish the ones you can enter and the ones you can't?
Ah, I wan't talking about the TR thing. I know the guy said the same thing in GSCZoramon089 said:What are you talking about? The ORIGINAL G/S said TR disbanded 3 years ago, which was referring to Red's actions in the original R/B
Well, the camera is zoomed out in that shot of the city, so that could explain the sprite quality. Remember, other shots showed the trainer proper, like the cave and the Pokemon center.survivor said:Just watched the video Filb put up to see the walking video.
