You can see the city map in this pic.

Looks like you can walk "up" deeper into the city, hopefully the camera's good enough for that, but if it is... hype+++

I bet Team Rocket takes over this city at some point xD

Or Team Whatever.

Hey, if this takes place back in time, maybe we'll run into an older Team that Giovanni was just a scrub at!

I kind of grew out of Pokemon after G/S came out and after I got over that the biggest concern that I've heard is that they haven't done much new. Most of them have been remakes since then too. I might as well wait for the next real generation to see if they add some new ingredients to the formula.
Starting with Diamond and Pearl, they completely changed how attack and special attack are assigned to moves. Attack now applies to all attacks that are physical in nature, and special attack applies to long range/magical attacks. That was a pretty big change. Plus there was the addition of natures and abilities in Generation 3.

Guess Filb should have video up soon.

edit: green thing probably a Bulba?

Could be, really hard to tell from caps.

Well, HGSS HEAVILY hint at a Team Rocket return. And by heavily, I mean that foreign dude.

Ugh, just show the starters god dammit, where are the starters!?

It's going to be a while... especially because people like us eat up every single little morsel of information.

And double battles, and hold items, and online, and the pseudo-3D, and different sprites for male/female...

Doesn't necessarily mean anything...

Ah right. Though we could go on all night about the additions since G/S.
Yep, I was horribly misinformed. I guess I should go play some Pokemon again before ignorantly posting in here again. :lol

Well, the quest really hasn't changed much. Collect 8 badges, defeat Team _____, become the champion, collect them all. Same thing with a new coat of paint.

The game mechanics change quite a bit while still adhering to the same basic style, though.

Platinum or Heart Gold/Soul Silver. Pick one of those three up and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I wonder if this city is some sort of hub?

Also, is that Pikachu on the TV on top of that building?
Well, there's a map of the city in that screenshot. Looks like all of the paths branching out are nothing but docks, and you can't go full circle around the city. I doubt it's a central hub unless you have to take a boat to every region.

OH GOD IT'S THE HUB THAT TAKES YOU TO HOENN/JOHTO/KANTO/SINNOH

Just kidding.

Well the dude specifically said he was going to move back to his own country and reform Team Rocket.
That wasn't in the originals.

I was wondering if it was or not, thanks.

But if this game takes place back in his country, are all the NPCs going to have that godawful accent? D:

In video game logic, you'd be from the country, so no accent.

It might just be the 3d but judging by how Pikachu's mouth is different in both pics, those billboards look animated. This city better look REALLY cool at night, I know the HG/SS cities did

Not "loading" screens, but you know... going into a building from outside loads new map data and the screen goes black for a sec.

And I get what you're talking about now ILikeFeet. I'm not sure what that dark ending of the road implies.

It's dark because the buildings are casting shadows. Shadows don't just disappear when you walk towards them. But it looks like the roads leading inwards will just warp you to a new map.

Wasn't HGSS technically a 'remake' taking place in the same locations but with different characters and later in the timeline than GS? I can't remember any team rocketeers saying they were disbanded 3 years ago or something.

Zilch said:
Right, that's what we're talking about.

That sort of loading/warping is not commonplace in Pokemon games.
Sure it is. Generation 4 used those annoying stations you had to walk through when moving from the main map to a major city. This is just loading different maps within the same city, which is no big deal as long as the loads are no more than the load time when entering a building.

GSC/HGSS are both 3 years after RBY/FRLG, and even the original GSC mentions multiple times that it's 3 years after RBY.

The story is the same.

Even though the story is essentially the same, I think it's a retcon type of remake, like FRLG were. That's how the game can be tied in to Sinnoh in a few places and can justify adding new areas throughout, like FRLG did relative to RSE and GSC (Sevii Islands).

What are you talking about? The ORIGINAL G/S said TR disbanded 3 years ago, which was referring to Red's actions in the original R/B

Yeah, I get what you're saying and technically you're right, I'm just not sure if I can get down with that. Walking into and out of buildings felt like a natural/unobtrusive way to load new map data.

Alright. It's been an awful long time since playing Gold.

Just watched the video Filb put up to see the walking video. I really dislike how the trainers are really small and look terrible. I thought at first it was just my stream, but with the high quality video, they still look terrible.

Anyway, it seems odd to me that some buildings are just black while the others seem normal. Maybe it's there to distinguish the ones you can enter and the ones you can't?

Yeah, and it says the same in the remake. I don't see how that's relevant at all to the Pokemon "lore." All of the events happen exactly the same way as they do before, only with some additions.

Team Rocket took over the Power Plant, obviously.

Ah, I wan't talking about the TR thing. I know the guy said the same thing in GSC :P

I meant things like Crasher being in the Dept. Store, the full
Seafoam Islands
, Pal Park and Safari Zone,
Sinjoh Ruins
, Silver being
Giovani's son officially, instead of just suspected to be
, that sort of stuff.

Well, the camera is zoomed out in that shot of the city, so that could explain the sprite quality. Remember, other shots showed the trainer proper, like the cave and the Pokemon center.

I haven't really been keeping up, but are those real screens? Cause they look ugly as fuck. I don't really care i don't buy pokemon for the graphics i just hope that the final game won't hurt my eyes like those screens are.

They're captured from a stream.

Edit: Those might be captured from a TV actually, but it was a tiny box on the TV sometimes. They're low quality.

How long do they fucking plan on going without revealing any information at all?

Did they.. not think of it yet?

They honestly don't have to. They can release bits and pieces at their leisure.

So I take it, the HGSS implementation of your lead Pokemon following you is not present in BW? They always do this with Pokemon... leaving out features previous games had.
