Actually this guy is the first water starter I like since Gen 2.
 
I like them, but they lost their impact after seeing all those fakes, they'll need a few days to sink in.

It's strange that they got the fire one wrong considering that's the one front sprite shown in the scans.
 
I do agree that they're rather bland, but I still like them better than the Gen 2 starters in terms of their base form (except for Totodile, who's awesome). I can't really make much judgments on which one I would like to choose unless I know what they can do and what they evolve into, though.

I will be very surprised if the 3'rd evo's of the Fire/Grass starters aren't fuck awesome. Very surprised.
 
What the hell at the water dude (Mijumaru?)? Unless its evolutions are awesome, it easily replaces Mudkip as the weakest Water starter in my mind. The other two are fine, especially the grass guy (Tsutaja?).

Liking the older protagonist. The dude looks ready to kick some ass.
 
Wow, peple's mock ups were actually insanely close to the fire/grass starter especially. Not sure if that's a good thing...:lol. But I like how they look anyway, the most important thing is their final forms for me.

My preference is Gen 1 > Gen 2 > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 3.

Really hate the RSE first forms minus Treecko. Although I find lots of pokemon tend to grow on me, so who knows about Gen 5. I really like the 5th Gen Water type so far. :D I have a feeling the final forms are going to be incredibly bad ass all across the map. Even for the water type, I wouldn't of guessed Empoleon would be awesome when Piplup was announced either.
 
I like theme, theyre all pretty interesting. Fire Pig is gonna be my starter tho. He's wearing a speedo. lulz. The grass one looks really chilled and the other one is a clown lol.
 
The grass one only uses 3 colors + its eyes, the other two use 4 colors.
All 3 should have good evos, but the green one's will be fuck awesome.

I thought Piplup was good in terms of design and Empoleon was badass, so he kind of wins points for having an awesome evolution. The blue otter/mime/clown abomination is something so random... it's like someone decided breed Mog with a Mime Jr or something.

Yeah I'm talking about the first form there,Empoleon is great.
It's not a clown people it's a snowman.(or rather a snowotter)
 
OMG the Girl Trainer looks awesome!! Finally a cool Girl trainer!!! :O

WTH at the water starter indeed, it looks weird, but in a unique way, was it influenced by clowns or what.

The Grass one looks the coolest, i'll definitely start with that one.

Hm, this is the first time a set of starters really hasn't stood out to me, design-wise. I'm glad other people like them though and I'm sure I'll gravitate towards one eventually.
 
Besides the flacid dick on the water starter, I kinda like it. It seems like he just needs a big hug.

Kinda sucks, I always go with the grass starter and this is my least favorite since Chikorita. I'm still gonna go with him, but damn.

Fire starter is easily the best. Look at the face. He's so fucking stoked right now.
 
That deviantart sprite of the Grass starter is really growing on me now. That's it, the Grass starter in Gen V is a smooth fucker, for now. I still say the pig is rather generic, though. Water starter is probably the worst yet, next to Mudkip, but I do think it's cool that it'll probably be Water/Ice as some of my most used Pokemon hold that dual type.
 
Grass Fashion Designer is so smug I want to punch him.
Fire Sprinting Pig is so retarded I want to punch him.
Water Gingerbread Man is so ugly I want to punch him.

The starter is getting the fuck out of my party as soon as I get a seventh Pokeyman.

The female trainer design is the best of all Gens so far.
The male trainer design is better than Gen III's and IV's.

empoleon can't save gen 4 on its own:

Gen 2 > Gen 3 > Gen 5 & Gen 1 > Gen 4
 
Female trainer design is good, but to me the female trainers have usually always had good designs, especially in comparison to the male.
This trumps the male character yet again for me. The cap thing was cool the first time around, but now I'm just bored. Favorite male design is from RSE, even though the RSE hat is weird.

Well I'm not going to argue about that. Because I too really like the design for B&W. And as someone said earlier it's much better than Gen 3 and 4. I would even go so far as to say I think it's better than gen 1.
 
Impressions!

Trainers:
Girl - Her hair is so HUGE!
Guy - Not too bad. At least he doesn't have a beret.

Starters:
Grass - Badass.
Fire - Pretty cool looking. Final evolution has potential.
Water - Damn Clown Otter.
 
Glad I left this thread for a bit, loving the starters. Fire pig looks cool, and I am pleased with douchebag grass type. I think their evolutions are going to decide which I choose as a starter.

The impressions I get from each trainer:

Red: It's clobbering time!
Gold: I'll punch you in the face and eat your lunch, you twat. (Retconned to my-legs-are-waxed-and-I-got-the-prettiest-skin-ever in Gen IV.)
That other guy: My baybladez are metal!
That beret guy: POSH POSH POSH POSH POSH.

I'm not sure how I feel about the art of the city. It looks very strange from that perspective. I would have preferred a map of Isshu as a whole, but oh well.
 
The battle "platforms" (for lack of a better term) are polygonal so I feel pretty certain that there will be camera rotation and movement in battle as well.

Pokemon are still sprites though. That will look super awkward.
