Pokemon sequel is under development for DS

I'm in awe of the new videos: the music, the animation, the Smugleaf <3
I was admittedly a little skeptical about GF putting out a brand new generation on the DS just as a new handheld system is going to launch, but my faith has been restored.

I love it. I think they read directly from the CoroCoro article about 97% of the time. :lol

The second form needs to be more distinguishable from the first, but the the third form is certainly ace.

On a related note, where is everyone finding all of this awesome fanart? deviantART?

Yeah, the evolutions rarely look so similar to the first. Needs to be a bit more unique, and I kind of expect something more snake like for the final.

And I also want to know where people are finding all this fan art? I don't see this much on DA... my friend gets all his pokemon fan art from 4chan, but I hate going there. :lol

Really? The second forms usually always look exactly like their first evo's. Only with minor details here and there.

Sorry, I don't have a tablet and my drawing with a mouse is pretty shitty.
So bear with a pencil sketch snapped by a BB camera.

I can't draw, but I want Smugleaf to be like a Leviathan.

This is my thoughts too, since it is labeled as a snake i'd think it will turn into something similar.
I love leviathan! so here is a Leviathan Smugleaf:

I think Pignition is going to end up looking like a fire version of an Inoshishi Gami, boar god, like Okkoto from princess mononoke

someone from Pixiv did it:

Replace the spikes off the head with leaves, etc.
Like this? (not a fan of the shape though):

Just another topic to bring up: What do you think/want the Pokemon to evolve into? Personally this fanart describes what I'd like to see the Grass starter to turn into:

For the fire starter, a warthog is perfect for him. Have no idea what the water starter can turn into other than I'm guessing it's going to be very snowman-like.
I really like this.

holy shit the sprites move :lol

edit: wow female trainer is a bitch, she just keeps walking right into the path of people and they have to move at the last moment.

I think that's the male trainer.

Wow, after 15 years, Pokémon developers finally ackowledged that:

- Computers can show several things at the same time, and you don't have to wait for the "hit" effect to happen and the sound to stop so you can trigger the decrease HP animation. Unluckily, they haven't discovered that text can be shown at the same time as well. They haven't fully grasped the concept yet but at least they're trying.

- looping the code HP = HP - 1 was never a good idea for animating the HP bar, especially when some Pokémon can go up to 500HP and more. Looks like the designers decided to go beyond basic programming classes.

I'm going to miss this... It was so fun watching the enemy's HP drop so slowly... Going "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon.....!" only for it to stop at one pixel full :( Then Lance uses a Full Restore and I get mad.

looking at the starters battle video it seems some of the Pokemons have 2 or 3 little animations running randomly (the weird water one had at least two in the vid )

that's really shaping up nicely :D

What you say only applies to some pokemons of the first two gens(bulbasaur, squirtle, the crocodile).
Starters from gen 3-4 are way more different from their first stage evolutions(except mudkip maybe)

GEE THANKS GUYS.

NOW ANYTHING GAMEFREAK SHOWS WILL BE A DISAPPOINTMENT.

Black and White are getting worse with each fan rendition.

You can't just LIST the "exceptions to the rule", they are still there even if it wasn't so much the case for the 4th gen (One could argue that Chimchar does this too . . . it's 2nd form just looks like a older, more developed form with a longer tail).

One other thing I have noticed is that Charizard is the only line that completely changes what it starts off as (Charmander is a "Salamander" that turns into a full blown Dragon where as everything else stays within it's animal line type. So I assume that our Otter will be a Otter in it's final form and not a Polar bear or w/e people have been saying )

Here are some "interesting" evolution guesses:

if there is one thing I demand from the fan artists is a hentai of Green and the new chick.
There are some with the girl trainer, but no Smugleaf.
You can have cross dresser Smugleaf though:

and finally all the generations:

I want to address this because I also see quite a bit of people complaining about the Gen I Pokemon cries. I'm also on that wagon.

I really don't understand why the games continue to use the ugly chiptune cries for the first two generation of Pokemon when they remade their cries all animalistic (similar to Gen III, and IV) in Pokemon Stadium I and II.

I'm no expert, but I can't imagine it being terribly difficult to import those cries from Stadium over to a DS game.

I remember playing Stadium as a kid and being pretty amazed at how well they translated the blips and beeps into animal cries in those games. I also have always loved the 'cries' way more than the incredibly cheesy saying of their own name shit that the anime brought. Probably why I could never get into the anime or any side-games.

Could you find a good example of the Pokemon Stadium cries and link them? I haven't heard them in over 10 years.

All black & white needs is one more turtle Pokemon and I can create my balanced team of four turtle pokemon (Squirtle, Torkoal, Turtwig, ????), a Raticate, and a Scyther.

Jynx: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApPJACXCdoM&feature=related

I linked that first because I never thought they could make that cry sound 'good'.

Persian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMGPHDPlMDQ

Mewtwo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZHc7Gktf0I

The chiptune cries is a huge nostalgia thing for me. that's why I like it and don't want it to change.
They could just add an option like the GB Sounds to enable them back so everyone's happy.

Surely it'd be Ninjask rather than Scyther? Unless I'm misunderstanding who Scyther is supposed to be...

The fire pig's animation is adorable! Once again that water otter thing has the worst animation, waving its arms around and blinking, wtf.

Umm... since when is 7 just "some"

None of these pokemon have drastic second evo's.

Charmander/Charmeleon
Bulbasaur/Ivysaur
Squirtle/Wartortle
Chimchar/Monferno
Cyndiquil/Quilava
Totodile/Croconaw
Mudkip/Marshtomp

Fact of the matter is, it's not rare for second stage evo's to look very similar to their first stage. And there's no real reason to expect otherwise. Unless of course it's something you want. But wanting something and expecting something are two different things.
