I wish this game was compatible with Pokebank and I could bring in my Pokemon to level them by fighting.

Dude...ONE DAY..

There will be a Pokemon Stadium NX, where we transfer our Pokemon from the games in and the battles are done Pokken style.

I CAN DREAM.

From my experience there's not much cool down time for Mewtwo's beam attack. He can summon it like 1 second later, pretty crazy IMO.

As for Blaziken, it's during duel mode. Basically pins me against the wall. Not sure which kind of kick, I think it's a kick that keeps me off the ground.

really? in field mode its a bit more trickier but you can run around and get them with the range combo if need be

in duel mode i find it a lot easier because while he can block almost right after u still get like a milisecond to just dash forward and block (this could lead to a grab which is why i find using the high stance strong to be a good punish tool.

i have been trying out light screen and seeing if that works in any way but so far ive been having a lot of bad luck in trying to get it out it also sucks beams beat almost everything in terms of projectiles lol

oh if its the knee kick or tiger kick i dont really have much other than just try to space yourself and predict it with counters or the high stance strong

also use counters whenever u can braxiens isnt that great imo but it gets unpredictable if u are able to mix it up with just even your basic strings (duel mode)

i really like the strong combo up x to x where if u get corner u can kind of 50/50 a grab or a counter since a lot of people i fought so far seems to fall to it

man i still love alot of the tiny details in this game, like both sceptile and blaziken high stance poses are the same as the mega pose

also on sceptile, i just realized that he is the only playable pokemon with a mega that isn't from X&Y, makes me wonder when they made a final decision on the roster

As a Gardevoir player, Garchomp has put the fear of God in me. I genuinely don't know how to reliably deal with his dig. Less skilled Chomps can be baited into counters, but I don't know what to do against a good player

Same for my chandelure. I'm trying to do some new stuff with him especially in the mid to close combat. 3 times I accidentally ko'd my opponents with overheat. That thing is a ridiculous counter. Possibly strongest in the game, definitely want to incorporate that into my moveset.

And also better breath how to play keep away when the opponent is all up in my space. Like pls stay away.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet

Only one of his Mega Sceptile attacks seem like exclusive to the Mega, Dragon Claw, and even that looks like regular Sceptile could've done it with different animation---also he doesn't use his launching tail in an attack, only a Win Pose, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had Sceptile ready to go, found he was getting a Mega, and then put him off to add it in.

He launches his tail as a mega in his throw.

Imagine a mainline Pokemon game with these graphics
minus the blur...
<3

think I'm Pikachu Libre btw. which is funny, cus in SFV my main is Mika :p

Do peoples tv just suck?

The game looks fine on my 50 inch. Anyone else?

Nah, IQ is pretty bad. Reminds me of TTT2 on PS3/360. Jaggies everywhere. Doesn't help that I've been playing mostly PC/PS4 games when I come to this, though.

Played for the first time with my son. He was having fun because he gets to mash and cool shit comes out. He's playing as pokemon with his friends and they're all having a blast.

I played him and he was winning just because I was figuring stuff out. Slowly started to learn, how to counter, 8WR dashes and stuff and...man, started having a lot of fun started beating him, and then my son started to ask how I was doing certain things. Game is a lot of fun and going to get tons of play just because of how user friendly it is. Even when I beat my son, he was having fun just because he got to do so much cool stuff with some of his favorite pokemon. GG Namco and Nintendo.

This is the first pokemon game I've ever played. :p

Yeah I had a guy or two against my Brax yesterday spamming dig on their first round, didn't work on the second though as I started blocking then punish into grab.

I'm addicted to this game so far, way more than SFV when it came out. Feels like a breath of fresh air. Hopefully this franchise will live on.

Dat OST...it's all on my phone now, so solid. :D

Also playing Gardevoir, and I can confirm that Garchomp is a powerfuck. Him, Charizard, Mewtwo, and Pikachu Mishima can be real headaches. I gotta start using calm mind A more to get some space away from them, because once they're in my normals are too slow to do much against them. Plus, forward Y doesn't beat throws sometimes, merely resetting to neutral instead, which is bullshit. Mega Charizard simply walked up and did a throw into super for like 285 goddamn damage while I sat there calm minding, thinking I was getting a free combo.

Finally got the afro hair. I'm mad I can't wear the Santa hat with the afro hair.

Are there any hats with the afro hair? It's slim pickins for this black guy.

Maybe I'm crazy but

When I'm playing Braixen, during the support pick in the 2nd rounds I think Nia keeps calling her Weavile

Nia likes to talk about/to her never seen Weavile that she briefly mentions having when you start the game and on a few other occasions.
I don't know why they decided to do that.

I think she's talking about her own Weavile, right?

I know what you're talking about though, I noticed it yesterday as well.

EDIT: looks like that's the case. :lol

I can't deal with these long distance attack spammers...

It should be more punishable than it is... I try to jump to close distance... I try to use counters and cancels to close the gap, but as soon as I block one attack there's another to deal with, which makes it hard to get in there for the kill!

What is the strategy for this, particularly against Chandelures?

I was not expecting much, but I actually really enjoyed the shadow mewtwo side-story thing (I just finished red league). The showdown itself was great, and felt like a proper "boss fight" which is tough to do in a fighting game. I think the fact that he shows up intermittently and has the potential to destroy you while you're ranking up helps in that regard.
The fact that they force you to lose round two is a bit lame though. He started getting the blue shield on whatever I attacked him with, and auto broke out of throws to ensure he would win. Getting the unlimited synergy for the final round felt really fucking cool though.
The music during that fight was fantastic, I think it was a remixed synergy theme?

Yeah. Regardless how the grind in handled in the leagues the Shadow Mewtwo stuff all around was very well done for a fighting game boss.

I need the frame data. D:

I guess I'll have to live with only a rough idea from setting the training mode dummy to jump after blocking for now.

Whoever came up with the energy ball spam combo in duel mode--you're a monster and I love you. That juggle is amazing and to finish it off with stored power is so satisfying. Also learning that the spin (I think it's Back Y?) sending opponents into a stunned twirl is very good for setting things up.

Although I'm still having a tough time with EB. The description says its properties change when it intercepts a projectile attack, but I've only ever seen it shoot a few extra bolts when it got in line with one of Charizard's ranged attacks. Maybe it just has a narrow hitbox or something. Wish it could actually intercept and block a projectile!

I thought maybe the TV was displaying the same image the GamePad was, but I don't think it's quite 480p. I don't know why this has to look like a Wii game, because TTT2 looks much much better on Wii U and that's a tag game.

Which combo is that?

For energy ball I've found that it beats some light projectiles but lets other attacks through (like beams, iirc). From what I can tell when it hits another projectile, whether it snuffs it out or not, it shoots the extra bolts. It would be nice if it was a bit more reliable on defence.

You are welcome lol.
It doesn't do it vs every projectile only medium power ones and up. But what happens is it will explode then send out homing arrows. The down side is that the start up is so slow and the move it self doesn't eat many fireballs so it normally turns into a trade you could have just avoided normally.

Found something sort of useful in free training. if you hold a direction when switching phases it will move both pokemon near the wall.

In mega, start with counter, then energy ball > diffuse, ball > diffuse, stored. Each bolt off the diffuse bounces the opponent into the next one above it.

Oh, nice. I am usually paying too much attention trying to land my super when in synergy mode. I will have to try this out.

Loving this so far, having some friends round tonight to do local!

I think it's also quite easy to see how this could appeal to kids - it's super flashy and there's a lot of automation, which makes it quite easy to do things which look super cool.

I went into this with my expectations fairly low and they've been blown out of the water. I'm loving this! The fighting mechanics are so fun and fairly deep, I love the league structure and the online works fantasticly. Its so refreshing to see Pokemon take on a new artstyle and the stages just burst with charm. I've finished the green league and played 2 online matches (both of which I'm glad to say I won) and I can't wait to get more out of this game. Its very good.

I hold my opinion of Street Fighter V being one of the best fighters ever made but Pokken's a better package and a more refreshing experience.

I'm using a Super Nintendo Classic Controller which works really well for this.

With Gardevoir? When you're in duel phase that super comes out so easy. Might be a nice finisher in place of Stored Power though... Will have to see if the timing works out.
