So if someone is in the grab animation and both characters go green you can still get out?
Oh ok, sometimes stuff flies over my head so I was making sure. I'm not sure about the exact case you are talking about. Usually if a grab is broken the grabbing character will be green but the attacking character will be red and it will be a critical hit.

Not sure that I've seen both characters go green, unless it's both going for the grab and one beating out the other.

I can't remember but I dunno if you can tech throws? So if both throw maybe the faster throw wins? I honestly can't remember, I've found it best if you think a throw is coming to throw out a quick attack to interrupt it.

Also Attacks > Grabs > Counters >Attacks.

If Anyone cares Easy Allies (former Game Trailers staff) are streaming Pokken right now: https://www.twitch.tv/EasyAllies (for around 3 more hours)
They aren't great and super noobs at it but they enjoy it.

I'm not sure about that specific case because I haven't run into it, but if you're doing any regular attack while they try to grab, you'll break their grab.

Hmm okay, thank you for the help :) I will try and do some tests with friends just to confirm!

Note that if you're specifically trying to beat a grab with an attack you'll want to use a move that wins from frame 1. Generally 8X is one of these. Some moves will often just break the grab but not attack back.

EDIT: If both players are trying to grab at the same time it goes by whoever lands their grab first. Different characters have different throw ranges; for example, Suicune's grab, when carefully spaced, beats most shorties' grabs. But since Suicune has a slow grab (11F, most are 9F), if they are right next to each other and start their throws on the same frame Suicune will lose.

Man, Blaziken doesn't have a fun time trying to get in on Braixen or Chandelure.

That match up is just not fun. It turns more into a platforming game, where I'm just timing my jumps with the spell spam.

The people who get in on me with Blaziken somehow manage to get there via the air. It's like magic.

This is something I dont understand. How can you not find this fun? It happens a lot in Smash Bros as well, when you fight spammy players with Samus/Toon Link/Falco. It is the epithome of a boss fight. You have to find your way to their "weak spot" while dodging constatly changing patterns of projectiles. I find it amazing.

I find not being able to beat spam as more of my own flaw rather than the game's flaw.

To beat projectiles, try counter r button cancelling.

The grind to unlock Mewtwo is crazy.
yeah, I'm only in Blue League atm and damn :p

Cool, thank you for the info :)

BTW, I've had both characters land their grab at the same time and neither will get grabbed. But this is not a tech, just the game saying, "hey you two landed your active frames of the grab on each other, so its a tie". It is not something you can rely on or even try to do it on purpose. Most of the time, the one who input the grab first wins.

Also, I was testing how to deal with long range grabs vs Sceptile with a friend, and for some reason i could not do it with Lucario's Jab, I expected the jab to be the fastest way but I got grabbed all the time. I guess bad timing, it was much easier to do it with the strong button, but you have to do it a bit later than them and you wont be able to punish anything afterwards, not even with burst (at least with Lucario). Of course, if you see it coming, an high stance attack or just jump will work much better and some high stance attacks allow you to get closer, but if you miss, well they have the advantage

Man, I haven't had this much fun with a fighting game in a while.

I think I'm going to remap one of my shoulder buttons to A. I honestly can't see any other way to use Gardevoir's Moonblast without being really obvious

Yeah, I mapped Y to one of the shoulder buttons for her just so I could charge it and be able to do something else without accidentally pressing another button.

You know it.

I've unlocked Mewtwo, but Shadow Mewtwo....

Slowly climbing my way through Chroma League. x.x

I got bored of the grind somewhere in Blue or Red, never mind this. :(

I haven't decided if the grinding would be made better or worse with an actually competent AI to fight "/

I find switching out to other Pokemon help keep the grind fresher. The AI is poor for teaching you he game, but it's enough to just learn the basics of a Pokemon's moveset and test fire it in a 'live' environment

Urgh. I just hate fighting R.Pika. Too fast, too strong, everything is a huge combo, grabs always whif.

EDIT: Basically, fought a bunch of R.Pikas in a row including the same guy with over 60 wins twice in a row (when I'm barely E4) and I'm mad salty.

So I chose to go 180 on my main 'mon and pick up R. Pika. Can't take a hit for anything but dishing out the buffs and debuffs like no tomorrow. The constant field changes and combos off the wall seem to frustrate people to no end. Love her!

yo that Garchamp in that tournament stream destroyed the competition
2 perfects in winner's finals

I think that chargeable command grab is fucking people up. It doesn't flash green until the very last second and people don't have the experience to spot it.

It does. I compared my Machamp vs Rico's and there was a difference in stats in ranked.

Also I don't agree that it is "pretty minor". I had a 20-30 damage difference on most of my moves as Machamp. That adds up over a fight. 50-100 damage after a couple of combos is a big deal. Perhaps it doesn't have as large of an effect on other characters.

It's 10% with max attack, and yes it was confirmed.

Do the stats for your Pokemon count in online? I assume that's why I still level up while playing online.

I just haven't been grinding. I play the league when I feel like it and go between it and playing online. Nice and chill.

I figured, that's a lot, especially on power characters.

I really don't see why they bothered. The game wouldn't have suffered at all without stats.

EDIT: It doesn't bother me too much though considering they're a one time grind and you can easily alter points. Plus they'll always be off in tournaments.

Good Braixens make things look so easy. Can't decide if I want to pick up Braxien, Chandelure, or Gardevoir.

I've yet to see any good Gardevoirs to really judge it.

Skill Levels Off is the standard for offline tourneys. For online, well, it's the player's responsibility to make sure their main is fully leveled.

I know attack is just flat out better than defence in most cases (I think it was determined to be a 10% buff for max attack versus an 8% buff for max defense) but how about the synergy stat?

Probably not worth giving up the damage but it'd be interesting to know.

Gotta echo these statements about the absurd grinding in the single player mode. Bought to start the fourth damn series of matches in the B league. I just want all my sets and stages damn it...
