I've been playing this game since release, so easy to pick up, go online for a few good matches, and keep it pushing.

If anyone wants to do friendlies, let me know! I hope the sequel has a lobby system, cause that would really help the community remain involved.

Blaziken has 2 armour piercing moves: Flare Blitz and EX Hi Jump Kick. Flare Blitz is a variant ending to the Blaze Kick special, so that could be what makes it feel random.

Yeah I played a bit more today and kinda figured that only the move after Blaze Kick counter pierces. I guess that's Flare Blitz. I wish Charizard's Flare Blitz counter pierced.

Edit: holy crap I beat Bim in an online rank match. I know it's only online n'all but still it feels good lol.

They really do need to add a water starter, any will do tbh but I can understand why they don't want to put Greninja in yet because of his synchro form not being explained yet.

Bought that Hori pad and it's well worth it. Won nearly every single game today. Made so many S and A ranks rage quit which is annoying for me. >_< I thought they would have fixed that by now.

The only character I really have trouble with now is Shadow Mewtwo. He gets his Synergy too fast and can Mega Evolve at least twice a game. How do you even deal with that?

Finally got to A rank, I don't think I'll try for S. Hardly anyone plays this game anymore so you get sick of playing the same people over and over again. Hope they release it on NX so it gets revitalised.

Wish this game had a better roster and that they didn't make the always terrible "make the controls relative to the always changing camera angle" design decision.

How so, unless the opponent crosses you up in duel phase the controls are always the same.

gotta say, I really enjoyed watching Pokken at Evo.

Tonosama claiming the win as Braixen was hype for me, not just because I'm a Braixen fan but also the reads and evasion were on-point, taking me back to my soul calibur days in some cases XD
Kind of sad he was the only Braixen to break into the top 32 but it perhaps at least shows it's more a case of the player than the character as I saw a decent amount of Braixen in pools who must've sadly drowned there :p

It was aslo interesting to see Potetin emerge as the 'Infiltration' of the tournament with his decent spread of characters.

Just got back from watching EVO at a friend's place and Pokkén was definitely my highlight. Partially because I heavily rooting against USA after they celebrated beating two people who play Pokkén on the side, so seeing them lose both of their Championship Series tickets to Japanese players was delicious entertainment. Hearing that the US vs Japan 5v5 money match got backed out of was icing on the cake.

Can't wait for Worlds, when Europe will jump in and knock American players to the bottom of the totem pole.

.........considering i played almost all fighting game only using my waifu...... I am loving him already here lol.^_^

I love using Cute Pokemon on main pokemon series too lol. Loppuny the fav.^_^

we're getting 3 new characters that are the opposite of cute/feminine it seems

First of all the 5v5 happened. Result:
USA took it in an incredibly close set, last game last round.
Was recorded and will be uploaded later.

I don't know what this weird narrative you're trying to create is, but I think most of us were well aware Japan is a step ahead. Still, USA making up half of the top 8 when we've had the game for significantly less time is nothing to scoff at.

Anyway we spent a bunch of time hanging out and playing casuals with the japanese players after the tournament and everyone was super respectful and nice on both ends, so like... chill out? Video games are fun.

I'm torn between:

* Being the villain.
* Being honest about how I feel the best in Europe are being slept on by everyone and are looking to make waves at Worlds.
* Talking about how that SRK article is super dumb and premature.
* mentioning that some people definitely seemed to be drinking their own kool-aid in the run up to EVO.
*"MEET ME SOMEWHERE!"

So just pretend I posted some amalgam of the above.

People who hate on Braixen are a mistake :p

And yeah, I liked that the pokken tournie had it's own 'infiltration' in the form of Potetin, multi-character players like that can help mix things up and are often fun to watch :D

I'd respond to ynthrepic about the 'fighting game curse' when it comes to female/feminine character numbers but they apparently got themselves banned somewhere along the way ^.^;

IIRC, the stream only confirmed Darkrai for arcades.I'm sure it won't be long before it drops on Wii U too.

We still have no word on if Scizor and Empoleon are actually getting added at all let alone a release date. and if you're looking for high level Blaziken play, I'd suggest watching the fornightly London Pokkén Streams we do. Angeldarksong is the de facto European Champion, and I can hold my own. I don't think there's another scene with multiple Blaziken mains, so at least we have that.

I just bought the Hori controller since I had a 50$ gift card from my CC company.

As someone who already had Pro Controllers, is it worth it still? I heard it makes a good PC controller anyways. Hope the online community is more alive than this thread though! D:

I still get matches pretty quickly in Friendly and Ranked whenever I play. There's also still people regularly playing in the Pokken Community Discord.
