In a debate format, Obama isn't as quick on his feet as say Clinton or Newt. Obama is more methodical, which means he rarely hits homeruns, but also it means he rarely makes any critical mistakes. He doesn't get flustered. If anything in the Dem primaries in '08, he got in trouble when he was a little too over confident (ie. "Hilary you're likable enough...").

So basically Obama is Floyd Mayweather and someone like Newt Gingich is Mike Tyson?

Effective juxtaposition, though I'd prefer they focus on just one or two and give them more breathing room.

Partly for this reason.

Romney has put shoe in mouth often enough that you don't need to play dirty, though. Just hitting him on his genuine fuck ups is enough.

Though, none of those are taken too far out of context, IIRC. But they're clipped such that I cannot be sure.
It's just a web video, not a actual tv ad. It's for the base.

Most of it is out-of-context quotes. Don't like it. Mitt says enough stupid shit that you don't need to talk him out of context.

I have zero sympathies. After 'You didn't build that' and 'you can't change Washington from the inside', it's all fair game. Fire all cannons I say.

HEADS UP For This Sunday Night 9:00 PM
TO ALL AMERICANS, DEMOCRAT, REPUBLICAN, INDEPENDENTS RIGHT OR LEFT.

SUNDAY NIGHT - VERYo IMPORTANT.    This Coming Sunday --
Set Your DVR for the Fox News channel at  9:00 PM Eastern. Maybe this
is why the White House has been discounting FOX.  Sounds like this
could be history in the making someone may go down - either Obama or
Fox News.  It may be that Fox has been holding this information back
due to the sensitivity of it and out of courtesy.  But, Obama has
taken on Fox and it appears they are ready to spill the ugly beans of
truth about the background of this individual who has had an extremely
radical past. This Sunday,  Fox News is going to air a very important
documentary about  Barack Obama, Sunday night at 9P.M. Eastern.

The report will go back to Obama's earlier days,
showing even then his close ties to radical Marxist professors,
friends, spiritual advisers, etc.
It will also reveal details about his ties to Rev.
Wright for 20+ years, i.e., how he was participating with this man,
and not for the reasons he stated.

The report has uncovered more of Obama's radical
past and we will see things that no one in the  media is willing to
put out there.  It will be a segment to remember. Mark your calendar
and pass this on to everyone you know:  Sunday night, 8 PM CT; 9 PM
ET.
Democrat or Republican, this report will open your eyes to how YOUR
country is being sold down the road to Totalitarian Socialism.  If you
care about the direction of our country, pass this notice on to
everyone you know.

                 PLEASE PASS IT ON....

Surprised everyone is all in a huff about the "You didn't build that" being out of context vs. when they quoted Obama without the context that he was quoting McCain. That was far more egregious in my book.

I assume you got angry at Mittens when he was running those out of context "you didn't build that" advertisements and parading it all around his campaign in rallies and at the RNC?

If this were a Republican ad with out of context Obama quotes, most here would be mightily displeased.

There was a decent amount of outrage about that too, it's just that it was during the primaries and among the other crazies like Santorum, he didn't stand out as much.

Scott Brown Says He “Regrets” the “Unacceptable” Behavior of His Staff
6:43 p.m. | Updated BOSTON — After a second day in which a video of racist behavior by his staff members threatened to overwhelm his re-election bid, Senator Scott P. Brown’s campaign issued a statement Wednesday evening saying he “regrets” what he called “unacceptable” behavior.

He also issued a verbal warning to his staff members who participated in the tomahawk chops and Indian war whoops — and to all of his staff — that such conduct would not be tolerated, according to a statement from his office.

The statement, from his spokeswoman, Alleigh Marre, follows:

“Senator Brown has spoken to his entire staff – including the individuals involved in this unacceptable behavior – and issued them their one and only warning that this type of conduct will not be tolerated. As we enter the final stretch of this campaign, emotions are running high, and while Senator Brown can’t control everyone, he is encouraging both sides to act with respect. He regrets that members of his staff did not live up to the high standards that the people of Massachusetts expect and deserve.”
The principal chief of the Cherokee Nation had asked Senator Scott P. Brown to apologize for what he called the “downright racist” gestures of Brown supporters at a campaign event Saturday in Dorchester, Mass.
“The conduct of these individuals goes far beyond what is appropriate and proper in political discourse,” the chief, Bill John Baker, said in a statement. “The use of stereotypical ‘war whoop chants’ and ‘tomahawk chops’ are offensive and downright racist. It is those types of actions that perpetuate negative stereotypes and continue to minimize and degrade all native peoples.”

I mean intimately, even sexually. I'm sure she loves Obama to a degree, but their relationship seems somewhat one sided to me when you look at how she acts whenever they're together. He's always the one reminding her of romantic stuff they did in the past and she goes "ahh yes," he's way more animated, etc. It's like the cheerleader in highschool semi-dating the guy who does her homework

Given Obama's attraction to people who don't like him, and his history of trying to make people love him, it's not particularly surprising.

Man I love you PD. I hope you never leave NeoGaf. This dude is the greatest!

Here's a question for those of you who have volunteered/worked on campaigns. When doing voter outreach, how/when do you check a voter off your list? Do you ask them if they've registered and or voted (whether it be early voting or on election day) and take their word for it? Or are there ways for a campaign to confirm such things?

during early vote, you simply get a list every morning from the election office of all the people who have voted. then you input into system so there names don't reappear on your lists the next day. on election day, you simply have poll watchers who can 1) update the vote count every hour and 2)find information about specific voters so you can black off your list

and never take a voters's word for it. back in 2007/8 and up to to dec 2011, i would simply tell prospective obama voters that there is no point in lying to me or my team about whether or not they voted. because i could find out very quickly if they did or did not.

i didn't see romney's new ad. him saying 'obama and i both care' is a pretty effective way of not appearing like an asshole. too little, too late for that, though.

What what

This year, Obama's team talked early on about running in Arizona, which offers 11 electoral votes, but it never did. Now, with an internal Democratic poll showing Obama narrowly leading Romney, Obama's team might make a play for the state that has seen a 160,000 increase in voter registrations by Democratic-leaning Hispanics over the past four years.

Buying television time in Phoenix, the state's largest city, is expensive and Obama advisers are closely watching their finances.
More valuable than Arizona's electoral votes is their Senate seat, so I hope he'd make a play there just for that.

I think Carmona being heavily associated with Obama would only hurt him. I believe the reason he's doing so good so far is because his ads basically say "Democrats and Republicans both suck. I'm an Independent dude."

Flakes ads are basically "Carmona is Obama's guy. You don't want that, do you?"

Obama is leading in Arizona? What?
An Obama lead is probably an outlier, but if Romney's only got a small lead there on average and Obama's got money to burn, why not compete? It looks like Wisconsin is off the map again.

I somewhat agree but if Obama is leading in Arizona in spite of not really doing anything, that message can't be resonating too well with voters.

That's what I'm trying to get at. How exactly would you confirm if someone voted or not?

Mitt Romney: ‘Pleased With Some Polls, Less So With Other Polls’
“Frankly at this early stage, polls go up, polls go down,” Romney said in an interview on Wednesday with ABC’s David Muir on the campaign trail in Toledo, Ohio.
“I’m tied in the national polls, both Gallup and Rasmussen have the numbers at even,” he told ABC News. “State by state you’ve got some advertising going on from the Obama people , which expresses their views on my positions which frankly, I think are inaccurate, and in some cases, dishonest.”

Isn't Arizona birther central? Wow.

electoral-vote shows the last poll taken a week ago having the state just 3 points apart.

if the republican base just gets apathetic and new voters come out in droves, it could turn arizona.

i see obama's absolute max in hitting 369-380 electoral votes. it would mean getting omaha, north carolina, missouri, arizona, and indiana. indiana is the most of a crapshoot of all of them, but if obama carries arizona and missouri, it might be at least somewhat competitive.

No way Romney doesn't pull further ahead in AZ by Election Day. He'd have to do so bad during the debates... Which, given Romney being Romney, is a possibility.

But I won't let myself get excited.

Oh please god, let some *really* embarrassing tax returns leak and just let Obama run up the score
