PoliGAF 2017 |OT4| The leaks are coming from inside the white house

She recently had been vetoing any bill that had been coming to her desk including popular bipartisan stuff. She's not that well liked, is seen as corrupt (but that's just New Mexico) and all the major population centers lean left to some degree. It's not going to be a given but odds are in the Dems favor.

Guadagno will be crushed in NJ.

Speaking of NJ, no surprise that Christie isn't joining the governors on The List. Do you think they'll suppress me because I'm a communist or they'll ignore me because I'm white?

Good to know. I envy all these states that will be getting blue governors. Even after eight years of Republican obstruction, destruction, and defunding, LOLOklahoma will give us another one. I hope the schools and my job survive the next few years.

Anyway trump didn't go far enough. No one cares about a face lift. And it seems from the evidence she did have work done and he was just being a bully. He should have commented on how she is a manic depressive weirdo adulteress who sank our country when she refused to accept Hillary.

You should also hope for the ground to stop shaking as well, lol, with all the fracking earthquakes.

I'm a registered Democrat for primaries, but I've voted PSL before. Trump wanted the data on who votes were actually cast for I thought in addition to the other stuff.

Your ballot is completely anonymous. At most they'd be able to see your party registration and voting history (i.e., when, not how, you voted).

Statement from Arizona Secretary of State

Arizona will not provide the personal identifying information of Arizona's voters to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. We will only make available the same redacted information that is available to the general public through a public records request. Social security numbers, Date of Birth and identifying information such as Mother’s maiden name will not be transmitted.

Arizona's voters can expect to have their personal information remain private and safe.

Couldn't the Democrats spin the public option as Medicare/caid for all? Technically, if you can buy into it, it'll be available for everyone.

I know this is a bit, but it feels a little gross. There are already enough attacks on women and mental illness in the world, we don't need more, even if they are jokes.

THIS IS WHAT IT MEANT IN '09

Help Me Fight for a Public Option (Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand)

As I've written over at DailyKos and as I told Howard Dean last week, I believe that a robust not-for-profit public option must be a part of the health care reform package Congress passes this year. I feel that opening up a Medicare For All type system to everyone would lower costs and increase efficiency by injecting some much needed competition into the market.

This is why I asked the question, because a non-zero number of people have begun to refer to a single-payer system as "Medicare for All", making the term really fucking confusing.
She's come out -- again -- for Medicare For All.
Like socialism, people misuse words and make them very confusing!

you're getting the timeline wrong, single payer has been getting called Medicare for All since at least 2003 and it looks like the centrists appropriated it for the public option :p

This is where it's coming from, then- I followed the '09 healthcare stuff closely and that's what it referred to at the time.

Mississippi's secretary of state says he'll tell the commission to go jump in the gulf of Mexico if he receives a request from the commission for personal information about voters.

http://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/politics/2017/06/30/hosemann-voter-records/444623001/
"As all of you may remember, I fought in federal court to protect Mississippi voters' rights for their privacy and won," Hosemann said. "In the event I were to receive correspondence from the commission requesting (what the other state received) ... My reply would be: They can go jump in the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi is a great state to launch from."

Will Martha Choakley try again MA? I said earlier that if she ever wins it'll trigger the apocalypse.

I think beating Baker will be very difficult even in this environment. He's both popular and hates Trump.

So I really love that a lot of people, including Schumer, are calling the Kobach think the "voter suppression commission". Maybe in the end this will be a good thing, because I don't think enough people are aware of what's been going on. Of course, then you have people like my parents who can't be convinced that there's anything wrong with voter ID, so maybe it can't be helped.

Also was noted on twitter - could you imagine if Obama had made this request? It would have been Jade Helm x infinity.

I know this is a bit, but it feels a little gross. There are already enough attacks on women and mental illness in the world, we don't need more, even if they are jokes.

This is why trump won.

(I don't think manic depressive is particularly gendered and she is, from what I understand, an adulteress, but I would call Joe an adulterer. I think it's a little weird, honestly, to say we can't say negative things about Mika without it being lumped in with Trump's mania. Mika is not a good journalist or television personality. For the record I do not care about plastic surgery and think it's hardly an insult to say someone is rich and fabulous enough to make themselves more rich and fabulous, but I would not have commented on her appearance, just her behavior.)

edit: I mean really, during the election both she and Scarborough were disgraceful. And these are people that were cavorting with Trump as recently as December! I hate that she's become the lightning rod because they are rotten.

But if it helps, I would recant. I would just call her a terrible journalist. :)

.

I hate Trump because he's forced us to defend trashy networks and personalities, but in these times one must form new alliances.

Similarly, long-time on-again off-again Madison Mayor Paul Soglin considering for Wisconsin Governor.

http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/lo...cle_2016d865-5810-5e65-8206-a70b85066b13.html

Soglin is a character, though he has been an effective mayor. He was active in student protests in the late 60s and was known as the "Hippie Mayor" when first elected in 1973. Nowadays if he has a conflict with the Madison City Council, it is more likely that the majority of the council is to his left. He had an unsuccessful run for Congress back in the 90s. I wouldn't really consider him a top tier candidate, but it would be nice to have a candidate.

I wasn't saying that mental illness is gendered. That part wasn't clear. I was saying attacking women and attacking mental illness are two separate things that we have too much of and you happened to walk up to the line on both of them.

No matter what your opinions on Mika's qualities as a journalist, neither her gender nor her mental health are germaine. If you want to seriously critique her and Scarborough (which I think is absolutely a fruitful endeavor) I think you will be more successful if you approach it in a serious manner. Anything else just adds to the sniping and noise that shows like theirs already produce.

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. Soglin doesn't seem like a very strong candidate, but he is a candidate.

Setti Warren (former mayor of Newton) and a few others are challenging Baker next year. I assume Coakley's time in public service is over, but you never know, she could always threaten to lose us another powerful seat again.

this is probably not going to go anywhere but I support the attempt

She said on the show that she did something to her chin and doesn't give a fuck who knows it. Boss response.

Newer injections and less invasive cosmetic procedures are much more affordable nowadays, so it's not like before where only the really rich was getting them either. Hell, I'm considering some.

Huh. Calling oneself a liberal or progressive implies openness to change, not aversion to it. I've seen a number of "hippies" who over decades ossified and stagnated in their beliefs. Perhaps as one gets older one likes change less and less; I'll be forever young and sexy and thus have no idea. But a lot of people in that generation seem to have followed that pattern.

I've also noticed that people of my grandparents' generation, born between 1925 and 1935, tend to be more Democratic. They remember the Depression - their own poverty, their own hunger - and how government intervention and social programs saved lives. That era produced quite a few lifelong Democratic voters.

To offer a guess, I suppose that when you grow up with nothing, you have no fear of anything being taken from you; in fact, you acknowledge your and others' need for help. The Boomers, conversely, have always known a world of abundance and fear their spoils being looted.

This is gold:

During the campaign, Vice President Pence promised that our administration -- because Mike is very much into space -- would revive the National Space Council, and with this executive order, we’re keeping that promise. Feel very strongly about it. I’ve felt strongly about it for a long time. I used to say before doing what I did -- I used to say, what happened? Why aren’t we moving forward?

Or this! This is so me when I imitate Trump:

I will say that’s not easy because everybody wants to be on this board. People that you wouldn’t have believed loved what we’re doing so much they want to -- some of the most successful people in the world want to be on this board.

He doesn't understand a single piece of legislation does he? He goes through the strongest effort to say a million words yet say completely nothing about policy.
