There are sort of two parts to it. The first part is his call to guarantee all bank deposits for six months, which is something intended to get money back into bank deposits so that their books are nicer, hopefully getting the credit freeze that is going on unthawed. Honestly what the treasury and world governments are doing will work, it will just take some time and during this time there is going to be a lot of pain.

The other part is mostly top-down bread and butter failed GOP shite, designed to allow the ownership class to write off more losses this year so they don't have to pay as much in income taxes and allow them to sell their still-profitable long positions for cash (do we really need MORE flights to cash at this point without hitting taxes). It does nothing concrete to help the middle class, except for the ideas that Obama has also endorsed far earlier (no taxes on unemployment insurance and lower taxes for seniors with lower incomes).

It's the typical GOP fare that McCain has been unable to sell so far, and that McCain will likely not be able to sell to the public again.

After billboards saying “Obama for President” appeared in the Electronic Arts Inc. game “Burnout Paradise” for the Xbox 360, the company confirmed the candidate bought the ads.

Some ads were also paid for by a political web site, voteforchange.com.

Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) is based in Redwood City and has a studio in Los Angeles. The company said it sold the ads as it would have sold them to any qualified politician, but that the company was not expressing a political position.

News reports said this is the first time a U.S. presidential candidate has bought in-game advertising.

Gigaom, a blog about gaming, cited Holly Rockwood, an EA spokesperson, confirming the deal.

“Burnout Paradise” is a racing game.

*) Heaped praises on her
*) Said that she was the only one holding both Obama "accountable"
*) Went and did something that the McCain campaign hasn't done yet, and blamed Obama's campaign as partially responsible for the ACORN stuff.

I'm sure that the McCain camp didn't want her to go there,but she wanted to go there becuase it means she is doing the work that the base wants-smear, smear, smear and fan their fears. She would "go there" with Wright if not for the fact that she'd be pinned in by the media if she did so, and she reallllyyy is afraid of the non-Hannitized press right now.

It's fun to see the somewhat bewildered reaction in the media to this. For a lot of these reporters, it's probably the first time they've ever heard of in-game advertising. First Read had a similar reaction:

Yeah, after reading that story, it's not good enough. It looks good on it's face, but warts up as you get closer to it. It'll probably have some traction on the blogosphere, and maybe a few mentions in the MSM, but that's probably the extent of it. The only reason Ayers really gained any traction is because McCain's campaign kept pushing it, they made it official. Obama won't do the same.

i guess my question/point/statement is: duh? when has in-game advertising been for sale before during a presidential election, so that a candidate could purchase some? maybe during this primary, but who would spend precious primary dollars on in-game advertising when competing against a field of 5+ people for the nomination?

Couldn't have agreed more, I am absolutely flabbergasted at the sheer amount of alienation Arabs or Muslims probably feel when stuff like this goes down. I have a friend (and this is in Canada) who gets a bit nervous telling people he's from UAE, and I can understand why because immediately a lot of people will look at him differently.

In general, I think there needs to be a stronger push by the MSM, emphasizing the fact that even if Obama WAS a Muslim, it would not make his campaign any less valid.
