Hillary is no longer a threat, she blew it. Her speech last night just made her look like an ass. Well, not to her most ardent supporters, but to the rest of the world she now just comes off as a selfish, whiny, narcissistic sore loser. I think the few reasonable Clinton supporters left will start to see that the more Hillary continues this charade.

Not to rain on everyone's parade or inherit the ChickenLittle tag but the Michelle tape thing is getting pretty specific : http://hillbuzz.blogspot.com/2008/06/whats-on-michelle-obama-rant-tape.html

Yes, I know that I'm linking to a hardcore Hillary blog but still, that's a lot of information. I'm worried. There's even a picture that puts her there with Farrakhan.

The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event.
hillbuzz said:
The "tape" is a DVD that Trinity United sold on its website, and possibly offered free for download up until March 2008 when Trinity's site was scrubbed and the DVDs were no longer offered for sale.

This outburst happened just one month before the 2004 Democratic Convention, when Barack Obama delivered the keynote address.
...so it's really not that old, and not to mention, a lot of people probably have it should it exist. Why isn't it up on youtube by now? Why didn't the Clintons get someone to leak it to the press? Because it probably doesn't exist.

But this is what he's infering. He's specifically saying that the VP spot doesn't make sense for her as opposed to having a role on health care / health insurance.

She is the #1 person we DONT want working on health care. I don't blame her for "failing" in the 90's, but she's on the health insurance dole in a big way. Hillary Clinton should be kept far away from healthcare legislation. Fucking Obama should know that.

Obama needs more people to push him toward single-payer. Put Kucinich on the job!

The news media just needs to ignore Hillary, they have no obligation to report on her. They don't report on Ron Paul's going's on.

So did Hillary actually concede yet?
Well, the media has crowned Obama as the nominee, so it doesn't really matter if she doesn't concede. Well . . . it does matter in that she is needed to unify the party but she is not going to become the nominee.

Also, why the hell wouldn't this have been used against him by Alan Keyes in his Senate race? This doesn't add up. I'm calling bullshit.

Yeah. Also, I did a lot of searching on LexisNexis and that photo is pretty much the only thing that ties Michelle Obama and Ms. Farrakhan together. There is no evidence that either spoke at the convention.

Also, Larry Johnson is still saying its Louis Farrakhan, not Mrs. Farrakhan that Michelle is on video with, and there is no evidence that he was at this conference at all

I don't want hillary as VP but I'd be fine, no I'd LOVE it if she was a leader for health care. It is her pet issue and she knows a lot about it. We should all be perfectly supportive of her leading a commission or what have you on the issue for the Obama administration.

But all that knowledge wouldn't guarantee that she wouldn't screw it up... a second time.

Oh, shit, the AIPAC thing. I almost forgot about this.

Edit: The more I think about Hillary not conceding, the more it's starting to make sense. I still think it's not cool for her to do this, of course, but look at what was going on at her rally.

No link to media that would say Obama won. They had pizza for the reporters. It's the last rally of the primary season.

This was little more than a private party for her and her supporters. She didn't want to bring the room down by saying goodbye.

Again, It doesn't excuse her behavior. It would've been better for her to go out as a supporter and a uniter. But at least I can kind of make sense of it.

Bah, edited this out of my previous post because I got my dates wrong, but indeed, Alan Keyes could have used this video (and if he was a smart man, and it existed, WOULD HAVE) against the Obamas in 2004. Youtube did not exist yet, other video sites did, and likely would have been uploaded by rabid GOP supporters to those sites. Hell, Keyes wouldn't have even needed to know it existed for someone else to get it out there -- video site, blog, leak to the press, whatever.

Hey guys... is there a link to the speech that Obama gave that everyone was talking about 10-15 pages ago (50 thread count per page)? The one with him hitting on McCain's weak points and also been magnaminous towards Clinton?

I really wanna watch it!

It's been looped in CNN a number of times today. I think it's from the New York rally.
Was gonna say that if it is from the WV stuff then it is an old quote. If this is new...then I want to see it.

I'm sorry, but I hate how different Obama (And well, every politician) is on Israel to me. I know that there is no other option as a politician, but it's one of those issues that has kept me away from politics in the past, and if not for Obama, would keep me out this time as well.

And how well do you actually understand the situation in Israel?

You mean how Obama had to go shill in Florida for the Jewish vote, yielding quotes from the courted like (paraphrasing) "I don't think he'll take care of Israel, so I'm voting for McCain, even though I'm an American and McCain clearly won't take care of the country I actually live in"?

Yeah, it pisses me off too.

here's a very good article about what went wrong for clinton

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121252558317842545.html?mod=hpp_us_whats_news

Before South Carolina's primary, Mr. Clyburn admonished Sen. Clinton for suggesting President Johnson deserved more credit than Martin Luther King Jr. for civil-rights laws. On primary night, Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn and they spoke for 50 minutes. "Let's just say it wasn't pleasant," Mr. Clyburn says.

Mr. Clinton called Mr. Clyburn an expletive, say Democrats familiar with the exchange. Mr. Clyburn's office would confirm only that the former president used "offensive" words. Some day soon, the congressman says, he'll write about the incident. On Tuesday, he endorsed Mr. Obama for president.

Shill for the Jewish vote? I hope he wouldn't waste his time lying for something as small as the Jewish vote.

Jewish lobbies are a different thing, but that would go against his "new politics", wouldn't it?

small meaningless RANT:

I've made up my mind to actually VOTE for Obama this fall, provided that HILLARY is NOT on the ticket.

Now if Obama offers Hillary a cabinet -level position, I'm going to have to think about it.
I really dispise Hillary to the core. It really depends on Obama's choice. If he chooses Hillary, for a position, then forget it. If Obama is "forced" to have Hillary on his cabinet , then I'll probably still support Obama. No, I WILL still support Obama, despite my loathing of Hillary.

Real change only has a chance if Obama is a total break from the Clintons.

Clinton and Bush are closer to each other than what Obama is supposed to represent compared to Clinton. I hope & pray Obama is not all talk.

I want Obama to be the next JFK, the next Reagan. Those are the only 2 Presidents I have any respect for. Every other President has disgusted me. Johnson disgusted me, Nixon disgusted me. Ford disgusted me, Carter disgusted me Bush Sr disgusted me. Clinton disgusted me and Bush Jr disgusts me.

BTW, Ronald Reagan was absolutely FORCED to have George H. W. Bush as his VP in 1980. Reagan did not want Bush at all, Reagan disliked Bush and Nancy couldn't STAND him. Reagan vowed that no member of a secret society (Bush = Skull & Bones) would be on his ticket. They twisted Reagan's arm, and at the 1980 RNC, Reagan "welcomed" Bush as his VP. In March 1981, just 69 days into his presidency, there was an attempt on Reagan's life. Bush Sr was SO close to becoming President 8 years early. I wonder sometimes what Nancy Reagan thinks about that, and about Bush Sr. I think deep down, she hates his guts.

I worry about Obama. Do I think the Clintons are capable of doing to Obama what many suspect Bush almost did to Reagan? Yes.

anyone watching obama speak at AIPAC today?

this is, uhh... yeesh. tough crowd. wonder who told him to say anything positive about iran to a group of rich, perpetually nervous jews.

you go to a university to talk about diplomacy. you go to AIPAC to talk about blowing things back to the stone age.

I'm not an expert but I know a decent amount of history regarding the founding of the nation and I try to keep up on the current situation when I can. Do I have to have some sort of degree on the situation to have an opinion on it? Or are you just being condescending?

Wait, wasn't she in charge of a health care initiative back when her husband was in office, and didn't she blow it? How is she qualified to do it now? I'm also worried about Hildog pushing her health care agenda over his if she takes this position.

I'm all for involving her. I'm very pro-Obama, and I think there's a place in the white house for her somewhere. The question is where.

This is a solid point, particularly since Hilldawg has already been fantasizing in public about the possibility!
