I understand that your hypersensitivity is going to project a racial/ethnic undertone to my saying "rich, nervous" but ultimately AIPAC has been carrying the flag of the NeoCon movement ever since 9/11, oftentimes utilizing American fears to perpetuate Israeli goals in the Middle East. And since "Rich and nervous" is about a dead-on assessment of the people who comprise the neocon movement, I say that my assessment is dead-on.

Or, in terms you can understand-- there's a difference between seeing a black guy in Popeye's and asking "How's the chicken?" versus seeing a black guy at work and asking the same question. One is in context, and my comment was in context. Don't take it out of context and act like I just insulted Jews everywhere.

Neocons are generally percieved as cocky, not nervous, and that's where the thin veil over your racism falls apart.

Don't mistake me for an AIPAC apologist, I can say with certainty that I have a bigger issue with them than you seem to, I just don't resort to stereotypes in order to attack them.

Being a senator isn't a lowly job, you know. ;)
i agree completely. i just don't see her going back to the senate after all this, having to work with people who she might blame for her not being the president.

It's not an accomplishment until people can get race out of it. The right man won, it doesn't matter what color he is.

It most definitely matters that race didn't stop the right man from winning

Obama vows to stop Iran from having nuclear arms

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said on Wednesday Iran posed a "grave" danger in the Middle East and vowed to stop it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

"The danger from Iran is grave, it is real, and my goal will be to eliminate this threat," Obama said in a speech to a conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobby group.

"I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon -- everything," he said to a standing ovation.

Some pandering, but I guess he had no choice.

It seems like what he has said before. He considers Iran having nukes to be a serious danger, and will work to prevent it, but he is not interested in just going after Iran for the heck of it.

The only way to get Hillary out of the picture for good is for Obama to select his VP as soon as possible. Once both opponents (McCain and Obama) have made their selection, Hillary will look like a lonely, third wheel and the media will gradually ignore her.

Only if you leave out the rest
Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Barack Obama vowed Wednesday he would work to "eliminate" the threat posed by Iran to security in the Middle East and around the globe.

"There's no greater threat to Israel or to the peace and stability of the region than Iran," he told the powerful pro-Israel lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Council (AIPAC).

"The danger from Iran is grave and real and my goal will be to eliminate this threat," he said, adding loudly to add emphasis that he would "everything" to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"The Iranian regime supports violent extremes. And challenges across the region. It pursues a nuclear capability that could spark a dangerous arms race," he told AIPAC's annual meeting in Washington.

Calling for "aggressive, principled diplomacy" to tackle the problem of the Islamic regime in Tehran, he also warned he would never take the military option off the table in guaranteeing US and Israeli security.

"As president of the United States, I would be willing to lead tough and principled diplomacy with the appropriate Iranian leader at a time and place of my choosing -- if, and only if -- it can advance the interests of the United States."

I'm not the one trying to justify my racism.

At least, not in this thread. :p
Look-- any nation that bulldozes entire refugee camps and invades sovereign nations over the perceived threat of single-digit terrorists is either nervous or evil. I try to give Israel the benefit of the doubt but if you'd prefer the adjective "evil" to describe Israelis, which I figured would be "too racist" (go figure), then I'll edit the posts for you.

The idea of Jews being neurotic is pretty popular in pop culture representations.
Neurotic? Did I call anyone neurotic?

Following AIPAC's speech. To Peace in the Middle East

Well, that was the entire text of the reuters report that I quoted, so now you know where to address any issues you may have.

Thanks for posting more on the speech, but still, the fact that he states those things don't detract from the slight pandering. Both happened in the same speech.

LOL. MSNBC says McCain's campaign has promised that his speech today will "make news"

Putting millions of Americans back to sleep is not making news.

Or you can just do things on your own time table and go straight to the Ignore Her part. McCain and Obama are certainly giving the media plenty to focus on already.

So now Israel is nervous? I thought you said AIPAC was.

Shit, I live in America, and we invaded a sovereign nation (even though I didn't support it) I guess that means I'm inherently evil as well.

Seriously, do some ACTUAL research before running your mouth. I don't think you're an anti-semite, I think you just have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

Seriously, "single digit terrorists" are now okay? Nations should allow "single digit terrorists" in to their borders, because at least it isn't more of them? I personally DO NOT support many of Israel's methods, and I have no interest in defending them, but you really have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

Edit: As for your "percieved threat" comment, you do realize that Israel prevents a GREAT deal of potential terrorist attacks, no? Thereis a reason why the Israeli inteligence agencies are so highly regarded internationally.

His speech from last night got some rave reviews.

"McCain's Rough Opening Night"

http://www.blog.newsweek.com/blogs/stumper/archive/2008/06/04/mccain-s-rough-opening-night.aspx

The reviews haven’t been any kinder at National Review’s blog, The Corner, where writer Andy McCarthy poses a rhetorical question this morning: “Would you rather, a) watch last night’s McCain speech or b) be waterboarded?”

:lol

Obama will pick Clinton as his vice president, then she will have him killed and she will become the president.

She would do that.

McCain sent Obama a letter inviting him to town hall meetings across America?

Interesting.

It's old news, but finally bearing fruit. This really could be a fascinating campaign.

This, by the way, is how Hillary will, day by day, be pushed out of the limelight.

Shouldn't be more than a few weeks.

Obama poked McCain today for backing divestment from Iran after not signing on to Obama's and Brownback's bill a year ago favoring that course.

McCain aide Randy Scheunemann had no explanation for that, but said Obama should have held hearings on divestment from Iran in his senate subcommittee, despite Iran's location.

(The Europe subcommittee, Avi points out, has been recently granted the scope to hold hearings on anything John McCain is interested in.)

Huh....they really need to work on their spin/pushback if that's going to be their boilerplate answer.

Interesting.

the town hall, while it may be a good idea and get them side by side to show just how bad mccain is, it also boosts the crowd and stature of events he is at, because obama is there and draws many more people.

for mccain, the upside is 'hey, a lot more people and free media exposure that i dont have to pay for, etc'
for obama, the upside is 'hey, look at me, now look at him. can i get a fist pound?'
