PoliGAF Thread of THE END and FIST POUNDS (NYT: Hillary drop out/endorse Saturday)

of course, no matter what happens, the primary process seems by definition "undemocratic" with the mixture of caucus/primaries and staggered schedules. If they really want it to be "fair", they'd have every state vote on a single day at the beginning of June. All the candidates campaign however they want beforehand.

If Michigan and Florida are now moved up...doesn't that just give other states a right to complain? "I wanna count too!"

I think they'll meet Hillary's Michigan solution halfway. 73/55. I really do think that Hillary will go to the convention if she looses delegates based on a vote that would have been for her in Michigan, and giving her those 4 extra delegates wont change anything except that the people who did vote for Clinton were all represented. More importantly Hillary can't claim that votes were stolen from her. But they will give the uncommitted to Obama rather than have them as "official" uncommitted.

Well I meant more along the lines of rotating primaries, with states from demographics... making for a mixed primary to begin with, every time. As I forget what DNC guy said, but put in different states, combining white, latino, black, southern, western, rust belt type white folk stuff. To get a clear representation of America.

then you would just be getting the candidate with the most money/fame/recognition. The staggered schedule allows for momentum to be a factor in deciding the nominee. If it was all on one day, Clinton would have won in a landslide.

and this whole bullshit about counting MI/FL is just that. the candidates knew they weren't going to count, the voters knew they weren't going to count. They still should have just stripped half of the delegates, as we wouldn't be seeing this clusterfuck that is going on today.

FUCK.

i'm as big of an obama supporter as anyone, but i'm really disappointed in this. he's leaving the church he's been part of his whole life for purely political reasons.

not to mention, the church is very popular in the black community and he is essentially turning his back on his strongest constituency.

i don't like this.

Stupid Obama, STUPID!

why? he does it before they announce MI/FL resolutions. that'll take up a lot of stuff. then PR, then a bunch of supers monday and tuesday, then results night. it might get brought back up then, but i think burying this decision on a saturday afternoon was the best they couldve done with it.

Shit. This is no good. First he didn't want to reject his pastor, but was forced to because of the media, now this. I don't know that this is the best thing for Obama to do.

Fuck the media. And also, disappointed in Obama here. Not good at all. "Politics as usual" +1

It's a disappointing decision but one he had to make, he stuck it out longer then I had anticipated and probably longer then most people in his situation would have.

If true, it was probably a mutual decision between Obama and the church. Obama's rise to prominence keeps the spotlight on Trinity.

Deal on MI(according to Chuck Todd): 69/59 -- cut in half. Net delegates of 5 for Clinton. Both addons for Obama. Net of 3 for Clinton.

:lol

"Call this informed speculation... Clinton camp wants to resolve Florida tonight, bring Michigan to CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE.

But they don't have the votes. We'll see, but that's the latest buzz."

This is really getting out of hand she's been mathematically elimated for awhile now give it up.

It's getting to a point where I hope she gets seriously hurt or something so she can drop out already.

Chuck Todd saying a source says 69/59 split, with half votes + both add-on supers to Obama, meaning a net of +3 Clinton for Michigan.

well here's good news

chuck todd says the 69-59 plan will be accepted, but with half votes (so a net of 5 for clinton) but obama will also get two add-ons (so it will be a net of 3 in the end)

It probably was a mutual thing, just to also spare the church the public scrutiny over every single pastor's sermon and every guest sermon, reporters there every day parsing words.

Theres no doubt that there are political reasons behind this decision but the Church itself seems to be a large factor based on what Roland Martin has said.

That would be awesome news for the Obama camp.

The clintonites would go insane. We'll see whether Bill was bullshitting (as I suspect he was) when he said that they'd respect whatever is decided.

Also, is Chuck Todd a glorious, sexy, awesome wizard or what?

Upside to the church resignation: Obama chose this moment so the news would be drowned by Puerto Rico, rules committee, etc.

Always good with timing anyway
