I found this gem on a news site today:

"The day we finally depose RINO's like Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, John Cornyn, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, etc, and replace them with Tea Party leaders like Jim DeMint, Michele Bachmann, Ted Cruz, Richard Murdock, Mike Lee, Mia Love, etc, will be a day of great celebration."

I don't want to live on this planet anymore. How am I supposed to troll people this dumb? It cannot be done, you'd have to go beyond the impossible and then some.

So I'm reading 538, and I stumbled upon this comment:

Gerald FnordPasadena, CA
Regardless of what mathematical jiggery-pokery you may pull, Mr Silver, you can't change the fact that you are a gay Jew telling men with divergent views and used to getting what they want that they can't have it, and that in the minds of many ('most'?) of your critics is all that matters.

Reality, after all, is not a matter of facts observed and the probabilities of other facts' being observed, but rather is made on what the chest-thumpiest, growliest, dung-flingiest alpha males of the tribe say it is.

I don't even...what?

I really want to see some Florida polls. If we can win that one I would feel so much better. Or is Florida usually called late? Are we going to see Ohio + Wisconsin before Florida?

Just voted in my first election. Absentee ballot since I'm still at school, but chalk another vote up for Obama/Biden and Tim Kaine in Virginia.

Oh, so that's why we should vote for you.

“You know that if the President is re-elected, he will still be unable to work with the people in Congress,” Romney said. “He has ignored them, attacked them, blamed them. The debt ceiling will come up again, and shutdown and default will be threatened, chilling the economy.”

Florida will probably be the closest State (unless Obama is running away with it, in which case it may be North Carolina) in terms of vote percentages, so it will probably be called very late.

I hate to say this, but you might be a part of the reason politics sucks so much these days.
Lies, partisan hackery, rabid anti-intellectualism, and blatant opportunism are reasons why politics often suck. Wanting to see a party pay for espousing all those things is hardly the worst thing in the world.

Cool. Gonna do a quick call of which state combos are going to win this and wrote print them out. My living room is going to look the situation room on Tuesday night.

Florida population is what...double the population of Ohio? Pretty sure Florida will go late into the night, with many more ballots being cast there than in Ohio.

I'm sorry but voting for a 3rd party in a swing state does make you a dumb person. If you really want to inspire electoral change throwing your vote away on a candidate that can't win does NOTHING. You should be out petitioning for a fairer system, but when it comes time to vote as it currently is you are doing nothing but hurting everyone else involved out of spite.

Yep. Around 8 million people voted in FL in 2008, while about 5.5 million ballots were cast from Ohio.

Because this:

exacerbates the hostility in politics and makes it harder to work in a bipartisan manner.
Republicans have already said that they're not going to work with Obama, so it's not possible to poison the well any further. The only thing that will work is to make them suffer electorally for their intransigence.

It's their vote. There is nothing wrong with selecting the candidate that fits you best, and voting for them, even if you know they won't win. It's far from dumb.

Yeah I'm with tacticalfox on this. Bring on the full socialism and communism and drown me in islamoathiestic america, brother leader sheikh Obama. our land belongs to u.

Someone should make a zip file of election night essentials. Pdfs of the states with electoral vote counts. Timetables for poll closings. A pundit bingo and or drinking game. All 'likely' winning/losing combination. A list of 'essential' states for either candidate. What else do we need?

edit: latest 538 & wang predictions and early voting numbers and ratios for exit polls that could swing early voting.
