Popeye's is C-Tier

I got a 2 piece combo for dinner today. Thigh and leg+ red beans and rice+ biscuit and a cinnamon apple pie. Every item was strictly C tier, except for the biscuit which was C+. Right on par, except maybe a little below KFC.

This was only the second time I've been to Popeye's, after trying their Spicy Sandwich and cajun fries, which was B tier, btw. I was tricked by the Satanists into believing Popeye's could have a chance at beating Chikfila. Not in this universe, Lucifer.

That sandwich is the best item in all of fast-food with the possible exception of Whataburgers. The fries could be better but the red beans and rice is decent.
I can see someone thinking that. It's crispier, but the Chikfila Spicy Deluxe has a flavor I like better.

We aren't gonna agree on Whataburger though. I've gone there over a dozen times when I'm in TX, but it's burgers taste like McDonald's, but bigger. Not bad, but nothing too hot.

Do you have other fast food outlets in your area where you can get red beans and rice? I never did so it didn't matter that it was c-tier. It mattered that I didn't have to make it myself. :) I never ordered chicken after the first time though, their chicken was horrible, particularly since it could have been sitting under a heat lamp since shortly after the revolution. It could have been a mummified chicken entombed with Cheops, like bony chicken jerkey.

Where else can you get a chicken sandwich that good for $4?

Every other fast food chain is hopping on the bandwagon with trash meanwhile most of their menu is overpriced.

I only trust Popeyes and In N Out. Unless McDonalds brings back jalapeno mcchicken.

Their spicy chicken is much better than their regular chicken.

Chick fila doesn't even sell fried chicken pieces. And their sandwich is lame compared to the godly popeyes sandwich.

Popeye the sailor man does my head in. He got his super strength from eating spinach, but in order to eat the spinach he squeezed the tin open with his bare hands. If he's already naturally strong enough to squeeze tins open with his bare hands, then why the feck did he need the spinach?

Lol Popeye absolutely decimates KFC, KFC is straight trash. It's not even a contest. For the record, Chikfila is also trash, Raising Canes stomps it into the ground beneath it's heel.

I really enjoy their chicken tenders and their sandwiches. Yet...

Their service are probably the worst service in any fast food i've ever witnessed. Next to McDonalds. On a Friday-weekend night, guarantee you will have to wait 20-30+ minutes for your order. Oh.. and don't forget they may make a mistake in your order too. My family and I had many terrible experiences with them. Here's my rankings since I am a chicken sandwich lover.

1. Chick fil a
2. Cane's
3. Wendys
4. Popeyes
5. Jack in the Box
6. McDonalds (their new sandwich is disappointing). Even their mcchickens are better!

Problem with Popeye's or where I live is that they're only is bad areas. The only one that was in a good area closed down because the service was HORRIBLE.

Chik-fil-a is still the best IMO.

It’s because he only has strength in those huge forearms. Open a hard to twist lid of pickles or squeeze a tin can open if spinach...no problem. Only after he eats the spinach does the muscles in his biceps grow.

(yeah, I just made that up)

if popeyes is C- whats Church's Chicken?
Haven't tried Church's yet. Do you have to wear body armor when you go? It was pretty cool at the Popeye's, just some guy laying down on the sidewalk screaming at me; didn't seem like he was packing heat. Not that that would stop me from getting some good fried chicken.

No way their chicken sandwich is the best one out of all the fast food choices. Also their spicy chicken is amazing.

There's two McChickens though... the new one (that obviously looks like it's trying to compete with Popeyes) and an old one (the mushy thing that looks like a no name grocery store chicken burger).

Has anyone had Joliebee?

Saw a video and the guy said it was really good. Only thing is there are no Joliebee's where I live.

Hmm, gotta check it out again now. Thanks

Had Popeyes the other day, and I was disappointed. It was pretty bad. Chik-fil-a never disappoints, they might not be the greatest, but they're consistent, and the customer service is excellent.

A couple of years ago, Carls Jr had a buffalo grilled chicken sandwich. It was so good, too bad it's gone.

edit: Going to have to try the new mcd's chicken sandwich.

Yea, I'd rather just get an 8 piece from the grocery store.

Their chicken sandwich on the other hand is several levels above Chic Fil A's. It not only tastes way better, but the portions of chicken are huge. And I'm a fan of Chic Fil A.

I'm with GAF. Popeye's is good (as is CFA).
Ranking either of them anywhere near KFC is inconceivable. The last time I tried KFC I considered throwing away my lunch (on a work day). It's awful.

Bojangles is great too. Two breast dinner w/ green beans and a large unsweet tea is a perfect low-carb Southern fast food dinner. I like their spices more than Popeye's as well.

Shit, that bread is giving me cravings. I love that cheap, squat bread with sesame seeds.

I've considered trying this Bojangles place before on recs, but sadly I live in the northeast, and the closest one is over 150 miles away so not happening any time soon.

The only thing I buy from Popeyes these days is the spicy chicken sandwich. It's the best. The fries aren't too shabby either, but McDonalds does that better. The regular chicken strips are OK too, but if I want strips I'll go to Cane's or even Chik-fil-A.

They serve breakfast all day as well. I'd recommend also getting a country ham biscuit if you ever eat there and want to splurge. The dirty rice is good as well, usually full of pieces of sausage.

Spicy Chicken Sandwich is S tier in the chicken sandwich game.

But you're right, everything else is so-so.

I have yet to try Popeyes yet, every time I drive by there’s usually a line of cars stretching through the parking lot and I have yet to eat any fast food that’s worth waiting in line for half an hour+ or so.
