It's depressing listening to radio nowadays and realizing that the entire pop music landscape (at least in America) is dominated by 3 or 4 producers.
And the reason is that "daring" and "new" don't sell, so even talented artists end up aspiring to the lowest common denominator (hence the most recent efforts from Xtina, Mariah, and Taylor Swift). There are always exceptions like Adele who achieve success while at least seeming to remain true to themselves, but not nearly enough of them.
