PR: Cartoon Network's 2017-2018 line-up

Never could get into Gumball. It reminds me of that annoying orange crap where everything is just loud and overly dumbed-down. I am not a fan of Steven Universe either for reasons other than quality but respect the seemingly large following it has.

Adding on to my list Clarence is pretty darn good too. Forgot about it though because I cut the cord.

Teen Titans Go is the second best show on Cartoon Network.

Maybe if I were 12 and had the attention span of a squirrel would I agree with your assessment of Teen Titan Go. Horrid art style, awful writing full of terribly unfunny dialogue, subpar animation...those are my main issues. Literally the only redeeming quality is they got the voice actors from the original series to come back for this abomination.

I mean, sometimes the animation is pretty poor. You can tell the episodes that they spend a lot of money on, and sometimes they just go crazy with the animation and produce some great stuff. However, the writing is genius if you ask me. Early episodes are more insufferable because it's just randomness for randomness sake, but as the show gets more self-aware and settles into the characters everything gels really well. Lots of great DC comic references as well.

Seriously, the latest episodes have all been oddly brilliant in execution, especially so when they get meta. (Though the 4th Wall episode was a little too on the nose for me.)

I'm a bit surprised that CN isn't trying to ride the 90s nostalgia wave like Nick is. Outside of the new single-night Toonami block, the bad reboot of Power Puff Girls, and the (fantastic) finale season of Samurai Jack they aren't doing anything as far as I know.

Meanwhile Nick has The Splat block and is making a Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie, an untitled Rocko's Modern Life movie, made a Legends of the Hidden Temple movie, and is working on a Rugrats project.

Where is Cartoon Network's version of The Splat? Where is the new Dexter's Lab, Ed, Eddie, and Eddie, Johnny Bravo, or Courage?

Legit never thought I would ever see someone describe Gumball as "garbage." Like, that's not an opinion I ever thought I would come across.

I mean, what? Holy fuck.

That show's quality consistently blows me away.

You find it surprising that somebody dislikes something you like on the internet?

If I were a kid I might think it's ok but as an adult I can't stand Gumball because the show annoys me. I'm not saying I'm so "mature" and "adult" compared to you, just that I have grown out of that style of animated show. I mentioned earlier that I like Clarence but his stupidity comes off as endearing to me while Gumball as a whole is full of bad jokes, constant shouting, poor writing (haven't seen one episode I liked), and an art style that I am not a fan of. In my opinion it's Uncle Grandpa levels of bad.

We Bare Bears is amazing though...

So is Clarence.
My man.
bring back ed edd n eddy you mother fuckers
Chill, we ended perfectly. I'd rather that show stay great. They should release the rest of the seasons in the west.

I'd love to watch Cartoon Network but it's such a chore to watch their shows as the weird scheduling and half assed on demand selection kills it. They should partner back with Netflix.

Really? In my opinion Clarence is an incredibly annoying obnoxious kid that the show consistently tries to push as "kind-hearted lovable goofy hero" which makes it unwatchable. If the main character was literally anyone else on the show it would actually be worth the time.

Eh, Clarence has it's moments. I don't think it's as good as Gumball or TTG, but it's alright at times because of the supporting characters. Clarence himself is overwrought.

ComedycomedycomedycomedycomedycomedycomedyCOMEDYCOMEDY!

Action cartoons are dead...

Meanwhile
Ultimate Spiderman had 4 seasons
New Spiderman series starts in the summer
At least 4 seasons of Avengers Assemble
2 seasons of Hulk
2 seasons Guardians of the Galaxy
At least 1 season of Big Hero 6
at least 4 seasons of Star Wars Rebels

Fuck Cartoon Network's excuses.

DC and WB animation said "fuck CN" and are taking it elsewhere.
That's the correct response and what Justice League Action should have done. Instead, the latter let CN shove it into an obscure time slot and air it out of order, with no marketing and random hiatuses. On top of that, the show would actually preempt its own time slot by a minute or two, so DVRs would start recording in the middle of each episode. What did they think would happen? I think they also did some tricky shit with the guide because a lot of what the episodes that have aired are just parts of the pilot, with different episode names and descriptions.

BONUS: it also fucked up PlayStation Vue because its cloud DVR would order series by episode number instead of air date, so whenever I checked it, I would have no idea if there even was a new episode.

That their sister company would show some decency for change? Actually do something that would be beneficial for both?

Those of you who didn't know JL Action was on aren't missing too much. As a comedy it could stand to be a bit better but they seem to want to do a good amount of action stuff in there. Doing an act and a half of action just doesn't work well to me.

Catoon Network has a brand new DC comics action carto-annnd it's cancelled.

LMAO. Warner/CN are connected to DC aren't they? Why screw over your own? Hoping for success for YJ season 3 wherever it ends up (which absolutely should never be CN)

i am convinced that the execs at CN have no idea what they're doing
just make DeMarco the head of programming you idiots.

The funny thing about JLAction is that the one time they did an ad for it they used Teen Titans Go (Cyborg & Beast Boy) to hype it up. Someone at CN thought that was a good idea nobody thought to premiere new episodes with new Teens Titans Go episodes.😀

Will they ever learn to make shows longer than 11minutes ever again? As much as I have liked Steven Universe, Regular Show, and Adventure Time I can't help but miss the days of Teen Titans, Young Justice, Thundercats, and the good Ben 10 stuff.

Glad to see Gumball returning as well, and of course Steven Universe is going to be back there was no doubts.

I mean, there were no doubts that it's airing in 2017 and 2018 because it was announced as renewed through Season 5 last year.

What is in doubt is if the show will continue beyond that. I think it will, but it's always possible CN pulled the plug. They may have at least told the crew that the show was ending in Season 5 so they could plan a satisfying ending. Matt Burnett and Ben Levin were the two main story editors for Steven Universe, and now they're running their own show with Craig of the Creek. It's great for them, but their departure can make Steven Universe fans nervous about the show's future.

I think we'll get a renewal to Season 7, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the show was ending before. I can just imagine how heart-breaking it would be if Adventure Time and Steven Universe both ended in 2018.

The fact that it's getting its own console game with Save The Light puts me the most at ease.

Yep. Say what you want about quality and how they're not as good as EMH or Spectacular Spiderman but at least they're getting stuff out there just fine. Not only that but hey have a great lineup of non action cartons AND they picked up the slack for "3rd party" cartoons like Pokemon, Yokai Watch, and the upcoming MegaMan.

Big Hero 6 already had a second season confirmed fyi.

Wait, you guys didn't tune in to Justice League Action when it aired, once a week at 7:30AM on Saturdays with no repeats ever?

Such a shame that people just don't care for superhero stuff anymore.

Did the Big Hero 6 show air already?

I kinda want it to end in Season 5 so that they go into overdrive with the plot episodes tbh

I've seen literally only one episode of JLA and it was ok but didn't really leave a strong impression. Is it really dead already? WOW.

Otherwise line-up looks fine. New Ben 10 looks like trash though. Apple & Onion also looks dumb.

We Bare Bears is good - y'all hating on it suck. Gumball is good too though even I'll admit it took me a while to come around to it. I hated it at first.

The TTG salt in this thread is delicious.

I agree, TTG is actually good for what it is most of the time :P

Isn't Ben 10 that show that the creator made look worse because he didn't like the weird porn of his prepubescent characters?

Wow Clarence is not on the list. That's a bit sad but I guess with what happened BTS, I guess this was inevitable.

Looking forward to the new cartoons though. Especially OK KO.

Ben 10 reboot has aired in the UK for months now. We even finished the whole season. Surprised that the US are JUST getting it.

Anyway, if you ignore the horrible art style, the series is actually pretty good. When you have the original voice actors and the original creator for a reboot, it barely goes wrong.

It's MUCH better than the PPG '16. I guarantee that.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Ben sounds a lot like Timmy Turner. But that's not surprising as both characters are voiced by the same actress.

Just was seeing this myself. Clarence (despite its creator's actions) was an excellent and very funny cartoon.
