Predict the price of the Wii U (what are you willing to pay?)

$299.

Probably willing to pay that personally, though I don't think its good value for money at that price. Apart from the screen its hardly got cutting edge components as far as we know. Hell the screen itself is apparently similar to 3DS ones which are probably pretty damn cheap.

$299.99 is what I see the price at. They might be able to get away with charging higher but after the slow start the 3DS had I don't think they'll risk doing that again. Though it all depends on how expensive the new controller is. They might be able to manufacture the console at a low price but the controller is something else I think. Though could be really wrong and it could be cheap to make as well. I expect an included game as well to show off the controller the way Wii Sports showed off the Wii remote.

Prediction: $350 or more

What I'll pay: I'll probably buy it anyway, unless it's a similar situation to 3DS at launch, but I'd like it to be $200.

With rumors of the CPU, people saying that it will have 1gig of ram or even 1.5gig of Ram, plus that controller, I am thinking $399.99. Perhaps they can push it to $349.99, but who knows. By the time this thing comes out the Ps3 and 360 will be in the $199.99 range, so that will put Nintendo in a weird position cuase even at $300, they will be $100 more than the other systems.

If it was over $300 they'd price themselves into oblivion. Fancy controller or not, there's just no way it would make any sense to go higher. You can buy a 360 or PS3 for less than the amount of change I can pull out from under the couch.

I think it will be $349 and I'd be willing to go up to $399.

A console + a tablet, and considering the ridiculous price they put on the 3DS, anything less that $400 would be shocking. I predict a very disappointing first price. Probably $450.

I'm unemployed so I can't buy the Vita or Wii U if any hypothetically released this week. If I had a steady job, the cheaper the better, but I'd be willing to go higher than what it should be set at to compete with other consoles.

While I hope that the 3DS hasn't set an unfortunate precedent, $450 for a Nintendo console? Really?

I'm guessing $299 or $350.

We all put on our non-excited faces, right? Should be $249.99. Maybe 299.99.

Seriously,

They need to be a phenomenon, and they can't do that if they price themselves out of the market.

See the 3DS for an example of doing it wrong. At $179.99 it would have sold how it should have, and it would have still made them money.

I think $299.99 is the home console equivalent to that.

For people with 299. You guys are crazy.

Did you forget that wii was 249, with just a 39 dollar controller?

You guys are dreaming if you think it will be 299.

It doesn't mean they wont take a hit on the WiiU.

300-350 is probably the max I would pay at launch. I'm expecting it to be in that range, but I will not be surprised by $399. Hope they have learned from the 3DS, though.

I dunno guys, Nintendo grew a pair with the 3DS. We'll see. The costs are still up in the air.

I agree with this. How well the 3DS sells the rest of this year at its premium price is going to factor in to how much they sell the WiiU for.

If 3DS can hit Nintendo's projections at the current price, I suspect Nintendo will start the WiiU off at $399.

If the 3DS continues to lag behind projections, WiiU will come in somewhere between $249 and $349.

$399 with U Play or U Sports. I'm willing to pay whatever they ask, though for once I wouldn't get it day one if it went higher than $499.

Why should it be any higher? The Wii itself was actually over priced when you consider what was in it compared to the GameCube. I'm primarily a Wii gamer and I can even admit to that.

$299 is what they should be aiming for I believe. I could see $349 depending on the controller in the end. Anything higher doesn't make any sense when you consider Sony and Microsoft will be making price drops around it's launch to stop it from taking off.

I'm going to channel my inner Pachter. $249.99 alongside an updated 3DS reduced to $199.99. By the time this is released we'll see either a 360 or Kinect price drop and a PS3 price drop.

The Wii was also overpriced. Much like the 3DS.
