I wish I could share you guys' passion for this game. I never get this excited about anything in my life.

What do you mean by confirmation? The game isn't announced, Sony isn't going to confirm anything.Wait, did I miss a confirmation of something or are we all just assuming that this is the project that SCE Japan is working on with From?
There is a disappointing lack of the phrase "moneyhat" in this thread.
Has it been confirmed that Project Beast is a Sony IP?

I'm still waiting for the FF7 Remake leak.
Where the hell is that Sony?
Although I think Sony's show last year was really weak, they also essentially did half the show in February. If they'd kept KZ, Knack and DC for E3, it would have been a stronger show.
I can't see any 'no used games' type things, MS just isn't fucking it up hard enough for Sony to have any free hits. They can brag about selling more consoles, or having had the right position from the start, but people would just read it as arrogance.
Games are really the only thing that matters this time. They could announce Morpheus' name, specs and release date, but that's the only 'initiative' type thing I think we might see. They'll probably have a notable third party exclusive, Persona 5 or whatever, some hot shit indie thing, Miegakure maybe, but it really should just be a barrage of first party PS4 games, everything else is secondary.
I imagine they'll spend way too much time on third party stuff, I can already feel my eyes rolling at ten minutes of Destiny. AssCreed and Batman too probably. I'd love to know the logic behind featuring third party games so heavily, other than failing to make up the time without them.

Guys, is there any chance this could be slated for 2014?

You think this is another year and a half off?
fall 2015 is my guess tbh.
That's definitely true (about them doing half the show in February essentially). Now we're all loaded up here.
And yeah, Microsoft isn't serving up a fuckup on a platter for Sony to slam on. They've got to bring it. I just wonder what they'll bring to the table.
Shit, on that matter, what is Microsoft bringing?! We don't know shit! PLAY THE FIGHT RIFF JOHN MAYER
You think this is another year and a half off?
I doubt a game of this magnitude will release the year it was announced.
How did From Software get away from Sony's lawyers by releasing an almost identical game with a very similar name (Dark Souls), was it ever explained?
yes. there's no need to rush
Mainly because most people know what a moneyhat is, and this isn't one. It's a Bayonetta 2 situation, if anything.
The Order will be in March IMO.If Uncharted 4 is fall 2015 then this is summer 2015
If Uncharted 4 is summer then this is fall 2015.
Or maybe March + June?
Sony loves themselves a March release date and I think after the success of TLOU they are gunning for more summer games.
Ask Square Enix?
After careful review of the WebMs, it looks like the "whip" is actually some sort of retractable scythe (like with a dual modes: short range and longer range). Is this mysterious dude you play some sort of stylized "death" or "grim reaper" like character, I wonder?
I think it's just a case of don't shit where you eat. Sony almost certainly could have sued, and won, and stopped Dark Souls, but why? To cripple From and burn Namco? Not being a dick has got them From's next series, and allowed far more interest around the studio in the process of having DS1/2 be successful. It couldn't have gone better for Sony.I always wondered the same thing.
Any MS studio developed Titanfall? So like a Titanfall situation?

Far better bet that it's just laziness. It's how Youtubers get away with all their IP theft. There's no real money to be gained from suing small companies.I think it's just a case of don't shit where you eat. Sony almost certainly could have sued, and won, and stopped Dark Souls, but why? Sony's last megaton was going to be TLG but they cancelled it in march.
I'm thinking
Project Beast, Early Spring
Uncharted 4 Late Spring possibly summer like TLOU
GG new IP, Fall
No, it's the exact same thing that happened with Demon's SoulsSo like a Titanfall situation?
I'm hoping that Sony will step forward, negotiate a deal with SE and fund it themselves.
If SE is too dumb to do it, Sony should whatever sum of cash before them to make to assemble a team and make it happen for PS4.
Sony would not only be guaranteed to sell a good number of PS4's with the game, they would almost assuredly recoup every dime invested and make a large profit off the investment.
No one is holding out any hope for Uncharted 4 this Holiday?
They could desperately use it this year people, now that The Order was pushed to 2015.
I sincerely hope that Sony isn't just going into this Holiday with just a delayed launch game and a PS3 port "Remaster".
I have a lot of skepticism about an FF7 remake. Would it actually be cheap to make? What level of fidelity are people expecting? Does FF7 still have the fanbase to make it a system seller? As far as remasters or remakes go, I don't see this one as being a low-risk venture.
I don't know if the FF7 magic can be recaptured.
Da fuq? Titan fall was outright money hatted after the positive reaction came in and all the "I'll get the superior version on ps4."So like a Titanfall situation?
It's not a moneyhat if they actually help w/ funding of something that otherwise wouldn't of been made. See also: Microsoft w/ Sunset Overdrive. There is a disappointing lack of the phrase "moneyhat" in this thread.
Could Sony have legally stopped it though? Are there patents on game design and similarities? I have never heard of any developer getting sued for copying another game's themes and ideas. If it were possible companies like Gameloft would not exist right?
It would be a complicated case, and Sony might not have actually won, but they could have kept it going long enough that From couldn't have sold it and Namco couldn't have funded it. It wouldn't be patent infringement (although certainly you can patent game design concepts), it would be trademark infringement, essentially that using the Souls suffix on a similar product would harm future earning for Sony.Could Sony have legally stopped it though? When was the last time a remake was a system seller?I'm hoping that Sony will step forward, negotiate a deal with SE and fund it themselves.
