I mean, it is what it is. I don't know what they intended for Dark Souls 2 anymore, and my friends tell me it's still a pretty decent game, but I couldn't support it after everything I heard about it. The bugs, the visual and gameplay downgrades, the various idiosyncratic problems. It just seemed like it was a real shady way of doing things.
At the very least, now they indisputably have the system power to be able to complete a vision commensurate to what they're showing right now, so I hope they don't later have excuses again.
But the fact it's the A-team really makes me excited about its chances.

According to him seeing the enjoyment people had watching Dark Soul's streams is why streaming was a big feature on PS4.

I remember the original leaker saying he saw the footage in a private industry stream.
Makes me wonder why he'd share it though, not many people seem to have had access to that. Just look at all the gaming websites reporting the rumor. They don't know anything about it themselves.

He played a rough build of the game and never made it past the first boss. Other gaffers have said the game was rough at the TGS when it was demoed. When the game was released Shu went back to it and felled in love with it making it one of his top favorite games. Other gamers have had the same reaction as him so you can't really blame him for his first impression.

It took 3 or so hours before Dark Souls really clicked for me.
The first few were spent lost and still getting used to the controls/combat.
I was also grasping at the fact that the game has high expectations of the players and hands them just enough tools to figure it out themselves. That's a far cry from many other games I played until that point.

No, I am not implying that.
I am saying that in the case of both 'second' and third party exclusives, the first party is paying for a game and limiting it's potential audience. It is not 'ethically' different at all.
At the time they were team-mates at Bayern Munich and worked / played together for years.

It had framerate issues and the networking features weren't running yet. I'm not sure why it really matters at this point. He's made it very clear for several years now that he really likes the series.

yes, at first he didn't like it - when he first tried it. But he has admitted Sony and himself "dropped the ball" with DeS and I guess the souls series grew on him since.I read several times he became a fan of the Souls games.
I believe Sony did stuff like pay for DeS' servers when FROM annouced they were shutting them down so they probably had a long (priviledged ?) working relationship together.
