Yea, after realizing that David's intention was to create life of his own, to be a father, all the shit where he didn't remark on Shaw surviving made sense. It was all his idea, really. Weyland just wanted to meet the creators. David wanted to BE a creator, regardless of the costs.

This is a very cool idea, but it goes absolutely nowhere in the movie. He basically shrugs when he sees Shaw with her stomach stapled, and then he does nothing related to this for the rest of the movie.

I love that they gave David the ability to think enough for himself to behave the way he did in this movie. I can't quite explain why I think this was a good decision, but it just felt superior to Ash in my opinion. I would never shit on the original though.

Ash is superior because he didn't have any robotic tendencies, he seemed human right up to his climax. David was amazing because of his robotic nature.

Was this directed to me? David followed orders, I thought that was clear. He had to do what Weyland said. Now if Ridley had ever shown that David was conflicted and starting to make his own decisions, I would agree. But all of his actions could be seen as him following orders. I think.

Him infecting Hollway and keeping Shaw's pregnancy to himself was pretty clearly him going outside his orders. That right there throws a lot of his actions into question. I don't think Weyland had any presumption or knowledge of what the goo would do to shipmates , the whole mission was exclusively about Weyland getting to know immortality and perhaps even the meaning of life in his final days.

I like how he let Holloway hang himself with his own words. The scene is beautiful as it's framed as Holloway talking David into David infecting him.

It would have been cool if he tripped some sort of security system and he and the biologist got trapped in the temple. It would have explained why they couldn't wait by the cave entrance for the storm to clear, because they were trapped in an area that hadn't been mapped.

Not much, seeing as he is a paperweight now.

Maybe Shaw will staple him back together, hahaha.

The cutting room floor is where that plot hole is at. No doubt, Scott thought it was fun to make it a surprise that the geologist & other dude never made it back, but found it inconvenient to include the explanation in the film.

They're exploring an unknown monument of an alien planet... they have no idea what kind of pathogens could be airborne. It's just really unprofessional and very characteristic of how careless and stupid the crew was as a whole.

I was confused by that myself since they have those globe things mapping out the area and the ship could track their life signs. Didn't know why Elba didn't tell them they would going the wrong way.

Why did the ship never leave is what I'm asking. The guy was sitting in the pilot's chair. We find no one in that chair, but there is a sleeping dude. What happened that prevented the ship from leaving, and why did the dudes just keep on sleeping, or why did the pilot go to sleep if the ship didn't leave? Heck, there are other ships, why not get one of those?

My running theory is that the black goo makes you go insane and eventually kills you, possibly reviving you if you're already dead. The only way Xenomorphs come into this is if you reproduce if infected. The possibilities of this are very small due to the extremely quick incubation period. This would explain why the worms then mutated into the snakes as worms are hermaphrodites. So the worms reproduced once they were in the black goo and out came the xenosnake. Holloway banged Shaw and out came the proper facehugger and later a baby xenomorph.

I mean, that has to be it. We will never know, but MEH. Its good enough for now. Now, there is the stuff in the canisters, right? I remember it being like green/radiator fluid.. He snapped off the top? Were the canisters melting???? Couldn't figure that out..

That scene was great. I loved Dave. His performance was so above everyone elses in the film. Movie had so much going on, it really was the story that pulled it down..

There really is no excuse for the mapped guys getting lost / not guided by Elba back on the ship other than there is some shit in deleted scenes explaining what happened. I don't think anybody in the production would really miss that given how it's something every audience member, whether they liked the film or not, picks up on immediately. Has to be some thing Ridley found necessary to cut from the film.

It seemed simple enough to get out as our heroes hurrying back, spent less than a couple of minutes getting out of the caves. Fifield again was in radio contact with Prometheus and somebody should have quickly mentioned something.

Maybe the static storm interrupted this and it was never stated that radio communication was down? I could have swore they were talking to them as the storm rolled in. Either way, the ship had a direct link when Fifield said he was bailing out, how they never tried to turn him back in the right direction from that moment is weird.

Somewhere in the movie, Elba asked the (lost) guys where they were and they replied back with some numbered coordinates. So whatever they had at their disposal allowed them to know where exactly they were.
