This is very much true; British humour can be acerbic at times, but in the last ten or so years that bar's been pushed so far (Little Britain and the like) that it's now just plain offensive to a lot of people. This KSI bloke seems to be one of those who thinks the bar wasn't pushed enough, but doesn't get why it was funny in the first place.
I expect some heavy damage control / rebranding over the next few weeks for this guy; whether or not this is akin to closing the stable doors after the horse has bolted, we'll know soon enough.

Tbh for better or worse this is how the culture of teenage to young adult humour is like in the UK. These are the jokes that we pull on each other. Its probably wrong but the truth is 90% of people between of ages of 13-25 will look at this video and find nothing wrong with it.
In fact most will look at that video and think KSI is great because he has the balls to pull such pranks.
Im not defending anyone just explaining the culture of where these jokes come from and why it would create a huge audience as seen by KSI's subscribers.
Doesnt mean he isnt a prick just that he is most likely not sexiest. To some this is shocking but to most living in the UK as I said between those age groups. This really isnt anything at all, this is the humour Ive definitely grown up around ( I got called alot worse than this stuff) and Im middle to upper class.
Youth today may be like that, but it doesn't make it right. Immorality by concensus is still immorality. If that's the case, then somewhere along the lines either society or parents have failed the children. Probably both.

I also live in the UK, and I don't know anyone who would act like the asshole in these videos. It's not like he's joking between friends, he's being an asshole while harassing people and getting paid for it.
It's on the same level as happy slapping; the fact that some youth approve of it doesn't make it ok, it's still fucking disgusting.

KSI didn't do much different from what Sacha Baren Cohen does... making people uncomfortable by playing a character; it's a joke but yeah it had the intended effect of making me uncomfortable in places, particularly when he mimed cunnilingus at that one girl. The rest of it was pretty funny but not that.
That said I was fairly baffled by the "sexual assault" hyperbole that came out of various news outlets after eurogamer.
Matt Lees had a point when he said the guy probably isn't appropriate for micosoft to use.
But I'm not so seething with moral outrage I never want him to get a sponsorship deal again or for his channel to get closed or whatever.

There was nothing funny about it, nothing audacious about it and nothing entertaining about how KSI have acted in those videos, even if you are British. In fact, its quite cringe worthy and even the chavs around my area (I live in the most slummiest place in Birmingham mate) wouldn't take those kind of comments and spin it as joke. There are lines that shouldn't be crossed, and the thugs around me know this pretty well. I am amazed how clueless you are to the whole underground gangster business when you are making claims such as this one and act like you know your shit.

They are consenting. KSI has to get them to sign a release to appear in his video. As I said one of my friends is also a big youtuber and he does these "prank" videos often and he has to get the people's consent to show the video.
Anyway it just seems a bit weird to jump on the bandwagon since everyone here im sure has pulled a joke or prank/bullied on someone they know or dont know.
There must be some jokes to be found because those 4 million + subscribers must come from somewhere.

I saw that Videogamer.com video before it was taken down, but I never commented on it. It was pretty well done and it brought up an interesting darker side to corporate imaging. Basically this KSI guy is an attention whore who acts like an ass around people for attention. He has a large following on Youtube, and he uses that fame to whore himself out to companies to make viral youtube videos that generate lots of hits. It's pandering to the lowest common denominator. .

I'm a Brit too and I too disagree with your assessment of "banter". Banter goes on between friends, or at least people in the same social group. That was not what was happening here. You try harassing women you don't know, in the fashion KSI was, at your place of work and see how long it is before you're shown the door, and if you tried that with random women in pubs I doubt you'd go too long without either being arrested or someone beating the crap out of you.
You see, the key thing here is that those women were at their place of work, and the fact that they were being paid to interact with the public immediately puts them at a disadvantage against assholes like KSI. They could tell him to fuck off but I suspect they would be concerned about how that would look to their employers, and I suspect the same thoughts might come into their heads with regards to thoughts of complaining about use of the footage. Whatever the case, people at their place of work have the right to carry out their work without harassment, and it is harassment. Trying to handwave it away as "banter" doesn't change that.

The same reason people watch PewDiePie. The target demographic is probably quite young, 8-15 yrs. They're just getting into swear words. They like people shouting, doing pranks, awkwardness, and being part of the "army". They want to be a part of the most popular Youtubers. Homophobic and rape jokes are fair trade.
Hazard a few guesses?
a.The bureaucracy in large companies is slow to recognize a issue let alone move to solve it.
b.Legal obligations due to preexisting contracts.
c.Or, my favorite horse, the negative impacts surrounding the issues do not superseded the perceived benefits provided by said promoter(s) and/or the hassle of having to find and contract a replacement.
The truth is probably a blend of more than one reason.

Great article, completely agreed that as this hobby has a more diverse audience, KSI is making that small world even smaller with his behaviour. Good use of empathy about your potential daughter being treated like this.
If he's remorseful about his previous mistakes, he would not try to censor that but publicly apologise and learn from it.

I'm aware that people managed to cache a tweet from July that KSI deleted on Friday. Is there anyone on here who knows how this is done? Indirect references he made to my video on Friday have since been deleted too. For obvious reasons, I'd like to see these recovered.
