Any opinions on the Raidou series? I generally like the MegaTen games.

So how would PS2 games look on a computer monitor using component cables with a RGB or DVI adapter (I don't even know if this is a thing)? Would it look better than just using component cables on my 50" tv? I figured that if it's on a smaller screen it would look a little better.

i think i lost my 8mb ps2 memory card drat! =(
Fair enough. Honestly between the PS1 and PS2 libraries, I doubt the PS2 will ever leave my set up again. My PS2 backlog is comparable to my Steam backlog, and there are way more games I want to add to said backlog.thanks! had to clean the controller for an hour. it was lookin nasty.
nice ps2's =)
just grabbing mine out of storage to play resident evil 1 non dual shock directors cut i just got in the mail. the greatest hits Re1, i had long time ago had butchered music, just want to replay the arranged version w/ the REAL ost =)
now, if only i could find onimusha and r-type final... my memory card is in one of those cases.
DTL Test PS2 price watch- late January edition- still dry. One console only model for $250 which is a bit high and the rest are ridiculous.
i check every once in a while for the hell of it, so I'll just post my findings here. lol
I said so before, but I'd also advise checking various collecting forums' sales threads.
i assume your steambacklog is huge. i just want to find my r-type final and finish getting all the ships. (damn... where is it? i may have to just buy it again and another memory card...drat!)Fair enough. Honestly between the PS1 and PS2 libraries, I doubt the PS2 will ever leave my set up again. Got a copy of No One Lives Forever in the mail today. Always heard really great things about this, excited to try it out. Doesn't seem like it has aged well, but I guess we'll see.

I got a copy of Xenosaga II in that is pretty beat up. It plays just fine, but it's a 80 hour RPG and I'm not sure if it would be playable start to finish with some of the scratches I am seeing.
Would performing an ISO rip of it give me a sense of the kind of disc errors I'd get and if it would be complete-able?
It's actually like a 10-15 hour game (and it's for the best, IMO).
A rip should let you know if it's playable. I had a copy of Gradius V that had a pretty gnarly label scratch and I got a few errors when trying to rip it. Once I actually booted it up, it wouldn't make it past the first level.
Really?! The first 3 hours of the first game was 2 hours of cutscenes, and they trimmed the 2nd down like that? Is it no longer an RPG?

Okay, looks like I'm half right. After looking around a bit (it's been a long time since I went through it -- the first PSN outage IIRC), the game is actually closer to 25-30. There is, however, some leveling/skill trick that I remember using that cuts down on your playtime significantly.
Once you get started with the game, see how you like it. I wasn't really feeling it (and really wanted to get to EpIII which I thought was wayyyyy better and more realized than I or II) so I was cool with making the game a little shorter.![]()

try the rip and see if it's successful...
if it fails, depending the damage, there's a way to get rid of the scratches, if possible, can you take a shot of the scratches?
edit:
here's a sample of deep scratches i just buffed out a month ago
on a clear plastic canopy (but works on dvd/cd very easy):

Wait, whats this about? Because i've got a Sega CD game thats got some music skipping.

These scratches are label-side. I'm fairly sure it's a done deal for these discs but I want to be sure.
It's a DVD so it should be fine. Label side is death for CDs or Blu-Ray but DVDs are a plastic sandwich with the data on the bottom layer of plastic and the reflective layer in the middle.
General rule of thumb is if you see light coming through, it's done.

Teknoman, can you post a shot of the damage under light?
depending on the scratch, i can recommend a solution. i don't want to post generic instructions w/o pics bc i found people in the past error and conclude it doesn't work.
but all you may need to spend is under 2 dollars or nothing.
glad it works,Made an ISO of both Xenosaga 2 discs, 0 read errors. Looks like the discs are good, despite label scratches.
Now to get more than 3 hours into Xenosaga 1...
Sure, i'll take some different angle shots.
