It means they are updating the PS1 emulator, which also means that the PS3 is getting an emulation update as well.

In case some didn't know this, for every PS3 FW update, they have updated the BC.
 
reorganizing the game list is huge for me.....damn motostorm icon going to bottom of list...that icons music is way louder than the others and with my headphones on it scares the hell out of me if I accidentally highlight it. LOL

I'm guessing you didnt DL Cash Guns Chaos. You'll get nothing short of a heart attack if you have your volume way up and you accidentally highlight it.

I was so happy when some of my additional demos installed and push that damn Motorstorm demo down the list....
 
Yeah. Thankfully the CGC Dlx demo is off the store page. (If you've downloaded it before, you can still get it from the Download List, I tried it.)
Then I bought Motorstorm, so I deleted the demo. Tranquility restored.

Yeah, the reordering of the games list is pretty damn great news. Now I can finally have my PS1 games together, demos together, PSN games together etc. and stuff I play the most near the top.

Oh I HAD it. LOL.....HAD !!! I deleted that loud sucker asap. It is pretty cool to have those animated icons tho. Specially Ninja Gaiden and Stardust HD.

I deleted the demo because for a while it was the most recent one I downloaded, so I'd start up my PS3 to Cash Guns Chaos's noise every time.

YES! SSD on the top! Everything else into the folder "Other".

Yes, I do agree folders would be welcome both for Games and Videos, but I wouldn't make them mandatory. I do want to have at least part of the list "folderless" so that I can be one click less away from things I play the most. In any case, I like that they went with reordering first. I dont' have enough games/demos to make folders option a must, yet.
 
It's cool how they seem to take suggestions and reported bugs from the blog and implement them into the firmware updates. I just did a request for in-game custom soundtrack, do the same! The power of one voice prevails over all! (my voice that is...)

yeah well, you do know they seed that as well..company personel posting for items they are already working on etc. to help give the appearance that its your requests. I wish MS would listen and let us HDTV owners adjust the fonts, etc. Hate the fact my 46inch hdtv has to have ginormous text, blades etc. Sony did theirs right.
 
Nice update IMO.



I'm lovin' the continued refinement of stuff like CD, SACD, and movie playback. While it may seem small, it shows that they have a team of serious A/V people as part of their XMB dev group.

Europe is a special case because they are basically phasing out PAL becuase many of the HDTV's available are ATSC/NTSC.

PAL titiles were never widely available in Japan however.
 
Has anyone confirmed whether you can do video backgrounds?


If not ... I wonder if a workaround would be to make a monster sized .gif?

Yeah, I had to delete that damn thing. The game's actually kind of fun to play, and I wouldn't mind keeping it on the hard drive, but I can't take the XMB music it plays if I accidentally touch it.

Post the link. Yes, the updates are always the same, so JP update will work on any console.

Hopefully you can change the image options so that when you choose "ALL" for viewing your photos that will actually stay that way and not just revert back to folders whenever you watch a movie, play a game, turn off the ps3...

Looks like a pretty cool update

if you are downloading it from the official site, then it'll clearly have a FW version number right there in front of you. as for compatibility, like with PSP FWs, there is only one updates that works with anything.
