PS3 Firmware 1.90 (XMB Backgrounds, order game listing, chg vid settings in-game)

Did Sony themselves confirm it coming? If not, they need to imo.

I do not believe Sony confirmed anything which is good, because then people would stop holding it against them while they get the function working properly and release smaller firmware updates like this.

"B-b-b-but I want to play my Linkin Park albums when I play Loco Roco 2!"

Wow, I can finally upconvert my CD audio to 176.4kHz. I was waiting for that.

Somebody please tell me this was a joke post. Upconverting your cd's in most cases just makes them sound worse, not better.

Games that use licensed music like Burnout, Tony Hawk and other sports games often are more enjoyable when using music you like, or newer songs after the ones provided get old. Maybe you think it's sacrilege to alter the original artist's harmonic layering, but god dammit, Excite Truck is so much more awesome with my music.

Seriously. I don't get how people don't care about this feature. The type of music I listen to NEVER is featured in games and I have to put up with dreadful awful techo elevator music.

They're saying it's coming later in the week.

I concur with licensed music, but I was just mocking for the sake of mocking. :D There are games which I personally alter music for on the X360.
Forza 2, your lack of music during races saddens me.

There are games which I frown upon when people alter their music though. :(

So how long will M33 take to crack the 3.52?

0-Day?

I expect something close to it.

In the past, Dark_AleX was notorious for being days/weeks late. M33 seems very consistent in their patching and updates. Even unlocking the new ISO loader. Plus their CFW updater is a tad more streamlined.

any news on 1080i upscaling if your dumb (or bought an HDTV 5 years ago) if the game doesn't natively support it and only supports 720p?

I do not expect major alterations to the security side of things, but you never know. Sony may actually try this time.

No news at all I'm afraid. It appears it's now up to the developers to implement the support within their game. I could be wrong though...

I thought it was updated in the SDK so that developers didn't have to implement it themselves...?

Hey, I'd be more than happy if it released tomorrow, but I'm just saying what was said earlier. Besides, tomorrow is technically later in the week. ;)

do you have a link to confirm this?

Was in like update 1.3. My friend has a 1080i set only and the launch demos like MotorStorm downscale to 480p on his set but newer demos are upscaled to 1080i.

I thought M33 is Dark Alex, just a different alias.

If he is a different alias acting under a new group, he's really changed his style. I wouldn't be TOO surprised. Whatever keeps me in a happy medium between homebrew and up-to-date firmware.

The Homebrew Hacker Protection Program works wonders. :D

I'm already installing it

It's downloading, but apparently going really slowly. 1% I was just running a couple of torrents and their speeds were fine so I don't see why the update download should be so slow.

Game sorting is pretty weak. You can only sort by import date and format.

I'm fine with separating by format, but I agree. There ought to be a few more options there. I'm still downloading. Does anyone know if you can change the PS3 XMB theme by itself like on PSP or is it just wallpaper?

Just wallpaper

Looks like Full Range HDMI sticks for PS2 games now. MGS2 is looking nice. And it looks like the strange blurring effect that was happening with the game is not there anymore. Game looks beautiful.
