PS3 Firmware 1.90 (XMB Backgrounds, order game listing, chg vid settings in-game)

uh no.
It is easy.
Insert any; thumbdrive, USB external harddrive, SD chip, Ipod via USB, or any another cards the PS3 reads.
Go under saved data utility, hit triangle on whatever you want to copy and copy to desired device.

Is there a way to transfer your old PS1 saves to the PS3, copy them to a USB drive, and load them into the PS1 emulator that is on the PSP? Thats basically what I want, so I can continue playing from my old saves, on the go!

You got a gimped console: whenever you play a multi-region game, you're gonna get the censored Japanese version. No decaps for you. :(

Yep. Just pick up the memory card adapter.

I believe that cause by over exposure of the camera as the camera tries to compensate for the dim lighting. Either the aperture is wide open or the shutter speed is slowed down. Either case, his TV is fine.

:lol This was just to test to see what it'd look like. Obviously this wallpaper would make the menus unreadable so I think I'll stick with the default. Still, it's nice to have the option now.

Now that they've officially confirmed they're working on getting in-game XMB access up and running, how about some custom soundtrack confirmation?

:D

Yes. Custom soundtracks are all I want from future updates. Sony make it happen!

In-Game XMB Overlay Coming In The Next Update

"PSU.com Reports:
"It seems that Sony is always listening to us, and that their "we are listening to the consumers and we care for them" is a true sentence indeed, spoken by Ericl Lempel. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. confirmed that an In-Game XMB Overlay is coming in the Next Major Update (you all know what I'm getting at). Yes everyone, you heard it at PSU first. In-Game XMB Overlay will be in the next update, but we don't know to what extent..."

Not to offend you Firewire, but that report is a lot of crap. They've already said they're working towards it and that isn't new information. That last sentence is a total liability waiver for them. Either the damn thing has XMB overlay, or it doesn't. What a cop out.

That's shitty reporting at its finest. Not to say it isn't coming (as was always rumored for 2.0) but how in the world did they draw that conclusion from Eric's blog post?

Yeah but it keeps the pressure on Sony to actually do it. Which is all I'm hoping for because we've been waiting long enough! All I know is sh*t will hit the fan if it isn't in the next major update!

What I want is cross game invites. That will be that last thing I require from the firmware updates. Anything after that is gravy.

Like I said before man, it's not going to happen. They'll put up the XMB support, and from there, it's all on you and Playstation Home. Cross game invites will not happen, ever.

You'll launch home, launch your game, get a message, go back to home, launch new games, end of it. That's probably the plan, and I doubt (note: SERIOUSLY doubt) that they will implement a coss game invite system once XMB overlay is fully supported.

I think what they mean by "we don't know to what extent" is whether it'll support the various functions of it, like being able to use the internet browser, play music, add friends to your friends list, change system settings, etc... without exiting the game.

I thought every game related aspect of Home was eventually going to be added to the XMB?

No answers for this question?

One more.. a year ago Sony offered Europeans the chance to reserve their Playstation Network tag.. I did so, but am unable to find the password they generated for me. Is there a way to retrieve this information? And is the PSN login the same as the Playstation account login on the Sony PS site?

Post #705 - You must have missed it.

You upload the saves to the PS3 with the adapter and download them straight to your PSP through USB. Simple.

Call Sony for the password or click on "Forget your password?" when you try to login to the PSN. It is not the same as the Playstation website unless you set it up that way.

Thanks a lot! Good to know I don't have to convert the files to get them to work.

So there is no way to confirm my PSN login before I actually get my PS3? I wanted to get it in order first... thanks again!

Seriously, I love this background thing but... Please sony, add some deep black shadow to the text and icons, because with 99% of wallpapers...

I contacted Sony after I had my problem yesterday and they were no help.I got into my account again finally myself and I am still having the copyright protection error thing with my purchased games.I contacted Sony again today and they said that the old firmware was corrupt and that the new firmware puts copyright right protection on all your downloads now.

I was then told in order for me to be able to play them again I have to set my modem to DCHP which I have no idea.

you have to search for the DRS settings in order to enable the HDSTT+. once you're done with that you can put your modem in SDQTTX mode to enable the DHCP.

in other words the operator was clueless about your problem and tried to put the blame on your modem, so you'll no longer bother him. heh, hope you'll solve the problem in some way

:)

No replug? You done good Sony, damn good. Call me a lazy bastard all you want, but shooing my cat off my lap to plug the controller back in just to update was a pain in the ass.

They fixed my 720p issue, my "plug in the controller" issue. Now I just need a fix for the disconnecting controller and Sony will be golden.

When it comes to in-game XMB - one of the things I love about the XMB is how easily modular it all is. In game, you could just cut it down to sound and video settings, music, friends, and game options (quit, turn off controller, etc) simply by removing unnecessary icons from the XMB under those conditions. I'm thinking in game XMB will be simplified but only in a streamlining sense.

So how does this new Blu Ray feature work? Is it anything 1080p TV owners like me should focus on, or it's not worth bothering with?

It's very much worth trying, to see if your TV supports 24FPS mode. If it does, it eliminates the "judder" (uneven framerate display with 24FPS footage, which means all theatrical movies basically)

Well when using remote play the icons are still there but clicking on them doesn't do anything. Probably will do the same for ingame XMB.

Question: with the new firmware now I can switch between RGB and Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr in the av output selection when watching DVDs (I don't remember it was possible before, but could be wrong) and so deciding which one to use to watch DVDs is alot easier (I really like RGB) but wanted to know, what would be the "right" one to use (leaving preference aside) to watch stuff when using an HDMI cable? RGB or Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr?

I probably overlooked it in earlier updates...but when did they add the ability to rename video files? Was it always there? I was suggesting that feature to a few people this week when today I realized it was already there :D

Anyway, Im not sure if I missed this with the 1.8 update but did anyone notice DOWNLOAD CONTINUATIONS?!? FINALLY!

I restarted my system during MGS4 trailer download. As soon as I logged back in download automatically continued. It's naaayce.

LTRTFM? :)

Lain: That's been there too. I don't know which one is right either but you can try looking at the online manual and seeing what it says about it.

nope

Also, since the update, there is a glitch in Folding at Home where it restarts your PS3 when you quit out. It doesn't seem to hurt anything but I thought I'd make people aware of it.

Finally got it. I hope the PS3 wallpaper thread goes on for a bit longer...

Completely off topic but can I buy Japanese PS1 games with my U.S. credit card? Wasn't sure if this was answered...

No, I'm not dumb. I don't know your US Prices but here in Europe Sony is overpriced as hell, 500€ more than Samsung, Sharp and so on. And for what? For a nice defective Set with much Clouding, like on the Pic shown above.
